At first I thought you were correct, and that I did have the wrong industry figure. I had just finished talking to an Apple employee about Jobs so I got kinda confused.
I put up a joke web site on Geocities one time and it went down just from the traffic in my office. There were maybe 20 or 30 people viewing it but Geocitie's bandwidth restriction is so low that it was unavailable.
He should see see it as enemy #1. It could very likely prove to be the source of Microsoft's demise. We will probably start to see M$ doing more and more to openly oppose the open-source community and its software in the near future. Obviously Steve is feeling threatened.

Apple has only had a small colony of crazy hippies as their sole users since before '96 and Steve Jobs is still holding out hope.;)
It seems like a paid microsoft security program would be a huge target. I am sure there is nothing more some people would like than to throw mud in M$ face by hacking there extra secure pay thingy. I would find it humorous if a bunch of people paid microsoft money for extra secure software just to have it get hosed worse than anything else.
It isn't going to take up very much and it is being combined with the current analog signal in the same spectrum. This is different than what has been done in some other countries where teh digital signal was made seperate from teh analog signal, thus using up more bandwidth. The technology to combine the two has only been around for a year or two and is part of the reason that digital radio in the US is lagging behind other countries which implemented it a couple years ago. The biggest benefit of combining the two, besides limiting the amound of the spectrum used, is that it facilitates a simulcast. Stations will be able to keep their analog frequency and add the digital at their leisure. And users will still be able to use their analog receivers (with the existing quality) or go out and buy a digital receiver to get the CD quality.
What if every webmaster created a link to a DeCSS program using "civil disobediance" as the text for the link. It would probably create a Google bomb and it would make a statement about the people not approving of a dumb law. What do you people think?
It might be legal to have your weather control machine space but maybe it is illegal to launch it from Texas. Don't mess with those Texans...they'll electrocute ya'!
I don't feel like reading a EULA tonight...by "working on" I assume that means contributing code. Is that correct? It doesn't mean using the program, right?
Yeah, I suppose a new party has a much better chance of success in a third world country than one in the US. The Green Pary is certainly a viable choice (superior IMHO)in many elections but it is ignored by the press and cannot garner enough votes to get funding.

China is a threat...through OSS.
I meant Steve. As in Steve Balmer. As in the CEO of Microsoft. Did you read the article? You know that text up at the top.

FUD

A four alarm fire has broken out in Everett, WA. Officials believe the cause to be a overheated server creating a desk to combust.

Where is the U.S. District Court of Northern California? I am in Nor Cal and I would love to attend.
Twenty bucks says she doesn't even exist.
Sorry if this is Offtopic. Mods, feel free to flag it as such, however, I was just replying directly to the parent post.
That would make a good sig.
See my sig for more microwave ideas.
If it burns cleaner it might be worth it. Also, it is much easier to grow sugar cane in the US than to talk Iraq into selling us oil when we run out.

2 good articles over at Wired. One on the approval of the digital standard and another on the merger rejection.
Wouldn't that prevent him from transfering data to anyone? Don't you want the data to be decrypted at some point?
not to mention Dmitry
Well, I was just thinking. I might as well get it started here.
Civil Disobediance. If I get any feedback I will add it my site also.

Hey man. We gotta save the forests man. Down with dead trees (paper) man.
I was under the impression the law only applied to federal or state web sites.
