We choose to live in a society in which we try to prevent any deaths (within reason) that we can. When members of that society (out of ignorance) decide that they don't want to contribute to the society then they should rightfully be considered outcasts. Instead, they get to go on talk shows and spread their ignorance to other arguably anti-social members. And when confronted with the dangers that their decisions pose to others they take the anti-social "tough shit" attitude.
It really makes me sad for what (some of us) have become. When did the "help your neighbor" idea turn into "OMG teh Socialism!!!eleventy!11"?
I remember thinking my grandmother was paranoid because she thought that the people on the other end of the TV could see her. I guess she was just ahead of her time.
No, it just makes those Republicans hypocritical partisan douchebags. They don't care about the deficit, they only care about making political points against the other party. And, the country suffers for it.
I have never understood the low maximum income level for social security. It's as if it were DESIGNED to punish lower income earners.
(For those who are not aware, "For 2011, the maximum taxable earnings amount for Social Security is $106,800." Any income above that amount does not incur social security taxes. See here.
The latest (yesterday's) Pew Research Center poll shows that an overwhelming majority (68%) say that "Lawmakers who share their views on this issue should compromise, even it means striking a deal they disagree with."
That sounds like most people want the debt ceiling raised AND they want it done in a bi-partisan, share-the-pain manner.
What you offer is a reasonable solution. And, I think that most Americans would be okay with that. But the rest of us are being held hostage by a small group that is ideologically opposed to practically all taxation.
I just don't understand how we got to a place where a tiny fraction of the population can bring down the economy just by being vocal. It boggles the imagination.
This link was posted earlier by choko, but it bears repeating since I see this or similar statements all through this article's comments. It's about a report from the Wall Street Journal that showed over half of the popular iPhone apps they tested sent personal information without asking permission.
Microsoft HAS been going after android phone manufacturers. As reported here before, Microsoft has made more off HTC paying them royalties than they have selling Windows Phone 7.
This is the unvarnished truth. In some places, when traffic is heavy, allowing a safe distance between yourself and the car in front of you lets all manner of idiots cut in front of you and then HIT THE BRAKES, forcing you to panic stop. Keeping an unsafe, shorter, distance at least prevents the lane-change whores from causing an accident that YOU will be blamed for.
If you can't tell, this is something I find very irritating.
Yes! I'm still rockin' the original Droid with Cyanogenmod 7 and it's like owning a new phone. My early upgrade comes up in August, but I'm not sure that there is anything I want to replace it with. There don't seem to be any good phones with a hardware keyboard available on Verizon.
I don't understand why so many iPhone fanbois trot out the profitability of iPhone as a positive feature for users of the phone. It just means that iPhone buyers are getting ripped off. Yet, in any Android vs iPhone flamewar, there is always someone who trots this out as if it's the end of the argument. Baffling.
I mostly agree with you, but I'm not sure about the scroll bars. "Complex and hard to master" only occurs at the beginning. After you've mastered the interface, does it enhance your productivity? That's the important question. I'm dubious when interface designers remove features in the name of "simplifying" the interface. That's fine if those features don't increase productivity much but sometimes the design decisions seem capricious at best and downright crippling at worst.
Just wanted to say "hear, hear" to your comment.

I you had read the article, you would have known that the service is NOT offered over wifi. Only over 3G/4G networks.
The biggest problem I have with Scientology is their policy of "Fair Game".

I was a "Nielson Family" for one week. They paid me some minuscule amount (5 bucks, I think).
+1 Funny
Excellent use of the Soviet Russia joke.
When do the semi-ballistics start running?
Sounds like you should be driving a minivan, then.

Fair enough.

Android's voice commands do three of those:

Mod parent up! I LOL'd
Please, please tell me you're joking.
Even if you aren't joking, you can install syncing software for Android. And, you don't have to put up with that pile of FAIL that is iTunes.
Tony Stark was able to build this in a cave! With a box of scraps!

Really? An AC that is obviously trolling is "the face of Linux". What kind of moron would accept that premise?
Wow, just wow. So much FUD packed into so little space. It's almost impressive.
