  1. Great... on MIT OpenCourseWare Now Online · · Score: 2, Insightful
This means that from now on less and less people will use those online (commercial) coursewares like www.knowledgenet.com , as MIT online courseware clones will start springing up.

It's delightful to know that people still want to make sure that knowledge will remain free.

Devices like 6650 don't take long to spring in to the market. The catch is that none of the US wireless service providers support #G as of now. Most of my friends think that the current PCS Vision and AT&T mLife is 3G enabled. But as a matter of fact they are not. Well they are kind of in between say 2.75? As a proof none of these companies ads mention anything about video.

Anyways don't get your hopes high on 3G atleast for a couple of years with this economy.

I agree on one point that this will result in far reaching consequences. This is certainly not the end for Nvidia or Geforce. Its far too famous card to vanish out just becoz one of its suppliers got out of business.

May be Hercules will jump back into Nvidia. I own a Geforce 2 Mx by hercules and it is a beauty. Given their past experience and if VisionTek had such a big market cap as claimed, then it makes perfect sense for them to jump back and produce Geforce cards.

Regarding the prices of any chips for that matter. The latest will always be beyond the reach of the consumer. So don't expect any price drops on new cards. A terrific review by any online gaming sites or my favorite AnandTech, well you can expect those new cards selling like hot cakes.

Most cable companies do let you know that it is either legal or illegal to hook up more than one computer to a single lne. I asked my service provider and he said that was fine as they know a typical home user wouldn't be actually hooking up more than say three computers unless there are geeks like in my appt where we've got 8 computers hooked up. But even that didn't bother the cable guy :-) And you can always make sure that he doesn't know you have a 'Home Lan'!

Let me tell you one thing - hackers hack in to a network because they offer some challenge and most of these guys like challenge. What is he (or she) going to accomplish by hacking in to a weak network. Those are the work of kiddies if you want to find their techniques type "hacking tutorial" on google. You can collect far more info than these "honey pots".

I believe the goal of this project is to find out about latest techniques and tools. But I'm pretty sure they will find hardly anything constructive. Wait till they release their report :-)

  18. Misconception on Agile Modeling · · Score: 2, Insightful
"XP offers a methodology for building high quality software FAST"

Well I don't understand why people confuse the term "Agile" with speed. Agile development is not about speed but about change (look in any dictonary). Agile development was a kind of revolt against the heavier methodologies since they were too picky and wouldn't let you change down the road, as easily as some of the Agile methods like XP.

Now the practices proposed in Agile methods like XP might lead to a faster development but will never ever guarantee on time developement and never says snything about speed. It is all about adapting to change in requirements, situation etc.
