Now I am not agreeing either that I want Big Brother watching my every move. I just don't see how we can have both the government checking out people/groups whoever, AND the same privacy we had post 9-11.
In the end, I believe the terrorists did win. We are now forced to slowly move towards Big Brother. We have to rethink our open, free borders.
Thanks Samuel for saying that. Too bad you were modded Troll. This/. crowd just doesn't realize what's at stake.
There have been no other strikes at America since 9/11 and Patriot Act had something to do with it. If you want your privacy/.'ers, move to another country. But I want safety more than I do privacy. And as the poster says, if you're a law abiding you have nothing to worry about.
Finally a reply other than an AC, thanks! Now for my reply...
Yes, I do listen to them, Boortz, Hannity, and O'Reilly to name a few. Do they manipulate stories, heck no. I guess what differs from me is that when I hear something that interests me, I immediately try to find other reports to verify it. 9 times out of 10, the above talk radio hosts are right.
Take this for example, I don't know WHO to believe. In Saturday's paper there was a report from the AP about the Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca, Saudia Arabia. The cleric that was giving the ending speech said roughly "God, make the holy Muslim warriors across the Earth victorious in their struggle against the Zionist west." Saturday night, ABC evening news reports a totally different story saying the cleric's speech was about his call for Muslims around the world to be peaceful and stop killing people.
WTF??!! Two liberal media outlets, TWO completely different stories.
And check this out, in Sunday's paper, there was another AP story and get this, it matched what ABC News reported. Same pilgrimage, same cleric.
So now who do you believe?

Well liberals can't take the fact that conservative radio is so huge because they tell the truth. Liberals believe YOU should believe what they tell you. Conservatives believe YOU should believe what YOU want to believe. They only point out the truth and the conservatives can't handle that.

Wow, this must a be first. A liberal statement being modded Troll. Its usually +5. Has the environment of/. changed? Probably not, but at least some of us are still out there.
Did anyone else see the snuff job Justin gave Janet during the halftime show? BOOM.... Janet's right breast. Was that planned or not? Now we know why teen pregnancy is at its highest, just look at anything MTV puts out. Hehehe.. I made a pun, put's out.
Anyway, flame me, I don't give a crap. But do YOU have a daughter? This is what you have to look forwrard to or are dealing with now.
Can you say grandchild with your 12-13 year old daughter? THNIK PEOPLE!!!
Be sure to also check ebay and Amazon's used book section. I discovered I could by a required textbook for $15 on Amazon whereas the college bookstore had a *used* one available for $75!!
Makes me wonder if the mafia isn running the new/used text book field.
Speakeasy was almost $100/month plus the cost of a phone line through SBC. It wasn't exactly what you'd call competetive, even though the service and support were top notch.
Dude, $100 a month for POS DSL??!! SBC has been running a special for a long time here (Texas). Six months of SBC DSL (don't know the up/down stats) for $26.95 a month. I can't believe you paid $100 a month for DSL!!
This is how Institutions spend money. It is based on grant money, either use it or lose it. Even though an upgrade isn't necessary, the money is there, so they have to use it.
No my values didn't change. The countries values changed based on what happened. We can only blame ourselves.
Hatch is one person who needs to be voted out of office. I don't like him either and I am a Republican.
Leave the Prez out of this because what you fail to realize is that these laws have to pass both houses of Congress. Dems and Reps can vote how they want to. Its equally the Dems and Reps fault. Its not the Prez fault these laws passed.
So the Canadian d00d was wanted in Syria. Serves him right. We are just recognizing International Law. When you get a chance actually read the United Nations Security Council's Resolution 678. You can read it here. We were acting based on the UN laws.
You are absolutely right, the terrorists did win. They won when laws like these are pasted by a weak Congress. Notice how when something bad happens, we get a new law that makes it illegal. I call these reactionary laws. Void of political preference, both sides do this and this is what I do not like.
Racial profiling didn't just happen. Its been going on for decades. Fortunately I haven't been racially profiled because I am white, but I have to admit, if it did happen, I'd thank the officer. He/she is on the lookout for people in the wrong area of town. So say I am on the southside and an officer pulls me over and says what are you doing here? Maybe he/she wants to protect my safety by warning me that I am in the wrong area of town and don't belong here. I wouldn't take that like the other races do. To me, we should ALL be treated equally. Racial profiling occurs because of the so called race laws. We are ALL the same color inside, regardless of outside presence. We as a nation will not be totally free until we lose this. So what if your hispanic? So what if you black? So what if your asian? This isn't our country anyway, ask the Native Americans.
When the Towers fell, everything changed in America. I believe if it weren't for this legislation there would have been more attacks on our soil. But it still boils down to if you don't do anything wrong, you don't have to worry about it.
Like it or not, we are moving to a more of a Republic than a Democracy. Its been happening for years. People are just *now* discovering this, but I think it is too late since these changes been in place for a few decades.
You're just now learning its more about WHO you know that WHAT you know?

That's not the fault of Linux, its the fault of the hardware. All thse PVR systems use digital capture cards that take the incoming signals (video/audio) and encode them on the fly. This has nothing to do with Linux.

I think it does prevent terrorism because they (the terrorists) have to grow eyes on the back of their head.

Easy, get the MPlayer plugin for Mozilla/Firebird. I use it daily to see Windows Media, Quicktime, Real, etc. streams.
http://mplayerplug-in.sourceforge.net/
Maybe you should consider dropping that extra stuff and just renting a hosting server? It should be way cheaper.
