Ah, those were the days.... here, have some old-school ammo...
"Mac users switching to Linux is PROOF the homosexuality is a choice and it can be cured"... tho that maybe more troll than insult. Not sure maybe it depends on the forum/context?
Reminds me of that time when some slashdotters found Ralsky's physical addy and signed him up for everything imaginable... the post office had to give him his own zipcode among other things.
gotta admit that was a rare sight. Usually I can spot the trolls a mile away and the occasional crapflood is still going on.... but anything posted after the troll post is as good as wasted IMHO... I just chalk it up to another slow news day
This is cool, I used to dream of widespread education back in the day. And now people are finding ways to do it, cheaply and en masse. This will be better for everyone eventually.
In the year of our lord 2016 I can't believe this shit is still going on. Its been a few yrs since I checked in. Everything in the firehose was spam a few times, and the one article I did promote drew some flak. *sigh* wonderful.
*shrug* I take comfort in the fact that slashdot is still doing this. Mainly its been awhile since I saw anyone get excited over a Beowulf cluster of 386's. But on a more serious note, I think that even if this tech isn't directly viable, at least stimulating conversation about it will eventually lead to a solution. Like Natalie Portman, naked and petrified in hot grits.
Nah. They'll just say that man doesn't understand everything, God is doing it and besides those scientists are all biased liburs cuz they're taking govt money.... *sigh* yes I actually have heard this argument
Mmmmm, nice! I had a similar experience way back in the day (around 1999) a guy in my LUG had some DEC Alpha stations to unload from his job.... I was all over that, getting Redhat on them, networking etc. School was slow and dull by comparison.
THIS. This x 1000. *LACK* of regulations killed jobs -- anyone remember "free trade"? Seems these companies are doing everything to deflect blame from the policies that *they lobbied for* and dodge any responsibility for the social conditions that *they created.*
They're just hiding it from you.

As if it wasn't already borked enough....
bork bork bork
YHBT. YHL. HAND.
Think about inflatable sheep and penetration, then you'll understand why and how it works.
"Webserver front-end was compromised, not the database. Not quite the Panama papers, is it? Non-news for nerds?"
Yeah, pretty much non-news for nerds. I highly doubt they will worry much about the childbirth part.
Depends. It might have a HOSTS file.
Absolutely I agree with this -- and would like to add, firewalling outbound connects as well as the inbound

Clickable links get more traffic around here. Re-posting the link for you from my login acct because logins tend to have more cred.
Actually I'm one of the guys that did vote this article in the firehose... *shrug* I just let it roll off and don't take any of /. personal

Didn't agents Scully and Mulder work for the FBI? And didn't they want to believe? And isn't the FBI investigating Clinton? ....

flushing money down the toilet can be a good strategy for tax purposes if nothing else
I never forgot the perl haiku contest a few yrs ago. My favorite one cuz it made me laugh for a week.

x2 ponies.... have to admit I miss the old days
Most of the Conservatives whom I've pointed this out to, blame it squarely on the government for being so easily bribed.
o shit if only I had mod points.... I *voted* for that guy too... only 1x tho
