My IBM keyboards have survived multiple beer, tomato sauce, coffee, cat hair, pizza, crushed in car doors, and cigarette ash. All in the same year. I never bothered to clean them out, just let the goo dry and keep pounding on them. Eventually the goo turns into a powder which can be dumped out.
Are these like the HappyHacker keyboards? I always wanted one of those... For now, I *love* my original IBM Type-M and Logitech Trackman Marble FX (optical). Running Linux here if it makes a difference. I've always preferred fairly tactile keyboards, the kind you can pound on. Like the old ps2 metal-case ones from 286 days. Optical pointers just because you can park it on the *exact* pixel you want if you get a good one.
How to make a point about junk faxes being illegal: send a fax of a *completely black* sheet of paper from a public or anonymous number. Multiple times. Perhaps hundreds of people doing this at once. Then listen for the outraged screams about "There oughtta be a law!"
And that's another pattern I've noticed: anything regarding SCO always seens to happen in the last 2 hours of the day, Mondays and Fridays. Doesn't matter if its a big trade or a big announcement. BTW check out my pic of Darl McBride.
IIRC the anti-gun nuts actually succeeded, forcing Colt into receivership wrt manufacturing the AR-15/M-16. Also bringing some hardship to Smith and Wesson. FWIW, I usually put a few ice cubes in the coffee just so I can slam it down before work; I also smoke and understand the ramifications. So does my private health insurer.
Getting back on topic somewhat, I agree 100% with your comment about negligence and wish I could shout it from the rooftops. I was simply wondering if similar legal pressure was being brought to bear against scanner and printer companies.

how about a well-greased CueCat? At least its immediate utility was *obvious*...
but could printer and scanner mfgrs unwittingly "aid and abett" counterfeiters? Therefore becoming liable? Or is there some "big brother" pressure being applied.
Weird tinfoil hat idea: DISCLAIMER: OK I'm no finance expert
I bet RH is thinking the same thing you are after looking at the risks... which is *why* they're doing this. Sort of a "trigger point" in the "finance code" sets off a certain behavior designed for robustness. Just thinking... 'course, I could be a dumbass too.
I've recently begun work on the next-generation game engine called "WMD Hunt". Current version is 0.0.001-pre-alpha. Notable changes include leveraging multiple synergies across player groups and enabling your gaming buddies to achieve your goals via graft and military-industrial contracts. Some degree of randomness has been added to account for the "lone strikers" play meme. I'm still trying to speedup and optimise the UN code though - it's slow enough that most players won't be able to use that option. Also, the "relative agression level" needs to be more fine-grained; You could be agressive towards your own relatives, or turn your level down instead of simply having a blanket policy. As opposed to a *real* blanket, if your home was recently destroyed.
Thank you, I totally agree, and *I* use Linux. That doesn't give me unrealistic expectations though. Just IMHO the greatest security gains to be had there will be in the apps, and sane defaults for newbies.
True. Bummer it's not a perfect world. "for some reason they're immune to this barrage of RTFM and instead it is Microsoft who gets the blame." Maybe MS gets the blame because they pushed brainless ease of use for so long? And so now people are behaving brainlessly? Most often, the people I deal with expect to be able to plug everything in and it "just works". Which makes me think that we *really* need to double-check our system designs and install defaults; its obvious that the end-user won't do much. Not that I like it, but it sure seems that way. Just my.02.
Nope, I never had a SEGA, but I enjoy Asteroids clones.
I've often thought that the people aboard the ISS are above this sort of discussion (figuratively). In fact, they'll probably be lifelong friends regardless of the "ideology du jour". Which gives me a great idea: how about slashdot intervies with former [astro, cosmo] nauts? John Glenn comes to mind...
He's already seen them. No, I will not provide a link today. (too much troll/goatse type content)
Let alone more energy than was spent to produce the He3 in the first place?
Like I said in another post in this thread... I *love* those keyboards. Best of all, I get them cheap at the local Salvation Army store.
Er, that's the one I mean-- the ps2 computer, not the damn plug size.

That's not too bad for $19.95 USD. Kudos to IBM.

IMHO it won't take too long to get an SElinux version because its in the 2.6 kernel.
Actually, I've seen Leon at slashdot and groklaw almost daily sometimes. Hope you Aussies can deal with this BS better than we are in the US so far.
I feel sorry for Bubba...

proposal to add a new troll pic to the slashdot lexicon: My Darl pic, thanks to the GIMP!

Heh, my all-time favorite is alt.sysadmin.recovery. Those folks have it down to a *very* fine art form, IMHO.
Bingo. I'm on dialup (linux/mozilla) and some of the major news sites are just *painfully* slow.
