Virus scanners, for instance, access files as they scan them. This could account for the large number of files accessed in such a short period of time. Also, Windows can "index" files "for faster searching." Could this also cause an access time or flag to be set?
I believe a lot of the subatomic particles that people study in particle accelerators last a lot less than a millisecond. Are those useless as well? I think the corn starch and water thing is cool too, but I think muons, gluon and quarks are are going to have a much more important scientific function.
Until you can make eveything easy for the common user, it simply will not happen. Take sound in Linux. I hate ALSA. Setting the volume levels, using alsamixer or alsamixergui, is painful and overwrought. I do not need to see evey single volume control that may or may not be in my card. All I need to see, usually, is a master volumne control, thank you. And maybe the surrond sound settings, if I have a card that will support and I have told it to show them as I have the speaker setup.
Until even the mundane tasks can be accomplished by people like my mother, a bright woman in her own right, as well as the fancier features, people will not even look at Linux. I would wager that , of the non-geek people who have even seen the word before, they would never even think of playing with it, as it seems to hard to master. IMO, anyway.
David Caruso couldn't act his way out of a wet bag. And they drive a Hummer around. I have only ever tortured myself with 2 or 3 episodes of this anyway, so I will not be watching anyway. Isn't Jack Thompson from Miami? Super secret network television conspiracy anyone?
It is a cartilagenous fish. Common ancestor somewhere way back, but still different. This is also not localized to this fish. Tuna and other sharks exhibit this. It is called regional endothermy, or also heterothermy. We just learned about it in Vertebrate Zoology. It has been hypothesized it allows them a huge increase in swimming speed for attacking prey.
If you watched Mythbusters you would know. Episode 3: Do eel skin wallets really demagnatize cards? It takes about 1000 gauss to strip the information. And the field or the card have to be in motion, otherwise there is no rearrangement of the magnetic media and thus the data. And no the eel ksin wallets will not erase your credit cards.
Microsoft Vista for Costco Customers: the Cheaper Edition.
You would have to buy, like, 3 dozen to get the good price, though. On the upside, you could then install it on all that old crap... er, hardware lying around any respectable geeks house.
in a multitude of stories. He usually uses the reaction to generate heat to fill an hot air bladder for lift, but I believe he has used it for other purposes as well. That guy was WAAY ahead of his time with a lot of things.
I understand economincs, but I also understand a gouging when I see it. Photographers charge into the thousands for them to even show up and shoot the wedding, and then expect an astronomical markup on prints as well. Would you pay these prices for everyday services. How much would your car or your computer cost at these profit rates?
In reference to your printer comment, wasn;t there an article just the other day about rising ink prices? I don't think they will ever pay for themselves...
I work in a professional photo lab and we saw this print your own trend in our professional clients. They would go out and buy some fancy-ass Epson printer and try to print their own work, only to discover what a righteous pain in the ass it can be. From color issues to problems with the original image (going to a "professional" photographer does NOT guarantee a "professional" image) there is a minefield of places that things can go wrong.
PS. Pro's are also getting there work printed at the discount places right along side you, and still trying to charge $10 or even $20 dollars for a 4x6 print they paid $0.29 for. They are well deserved to be in the list of over paid profession. Plus they have to be about the whiniest people I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.
I have never even seen a google press release. It seems that all of the new feature come from geeks who stumble around the web site looking for the new things to post on/. All the hype seems to come from these zealots who think google is incapable of making a mistake or bad product.
This doesn't even catch it all. I had a computer I was trying to fix last week. I had to give up after 30-40 hours of work and reformat. It had some damn site (connect.online-dialer.com for anyone who would like to bomb an asshole site) that would reappear in the "trusted sites" of IE no matter what I tried. I must have removed several hundred other pieces of spyware/malware/trojans and could NOT get this fucker to go. You can find links to this particular evilness here. On occasion, even knowledge about what you are doing is not enough to conquor some of the malicious code tht is being generated.
I work for a professional photo lab and there are more than a few of our clientelle who would like to acheive top-notch quality at Goodwill prices. Just doesn't work. I would also voice another vote for "Don't use Linux." Of our hundreds of clients, not one uses Linux. I doubt most have even heard of it. There is also a large portion who go out and spend shit loads of cash on new systems and cameras with the full expectation that that will make them a "Professional Photographer," and then blame the lab for poor results. We are not allowed, alas, to tell them if you give us shit, you get shit back.
We have had one here in Portland for a number of years. Its called Sony Only. Dont know if it is a Sony company store or what, but if it has been in the same place as long as I have lived here (9 years), and it doesnt look like it will be closing anytime soon.
Has he tried using the maps made for color-blind students? I would think that the black and white maps would increase the contrast levels and possibly help him see it a little more clearly.

havew you been to a Frye's lately and seen the POS they use to access their data? Same priciple. How long has it been since you have seen an amber and black display in regular use?

It has all of the reactions we needed to know for the final and such. The layout could be a little bit better, but you can edit it to suit your specs.
Oh.. BTW... Dr. Wamser at Portland Staue is not just the best O-chem prefessor out there. He is the best prof I have ever had.

I am afraid of when the wet dreams begin.

I never said this. I was not here.

And ego stroking at it's worst, for the most part.
If I had a company and wanted, or did, sell my product in Cuba, wouldn't I be in REALLY big trouble for passing the embargo? Is it just me?
Is that why all the fucking movies coming out now are remakes of old movies or crappy 70's TV shows? Damn you, file swappers! Damn you to Hell!

Was the flavor comment REALLY necessary?
Some poeple can't even drive well in 2 dimensions. Now add a third and all hell will really break loose.
Kick Backs are always appreciated.
