For a company with intelligent leadership, such as Google, this is not the simplest explanation. However, you are right, if Microsoft bought YouTube, this would clearly be the reason.
Duh? Isn't it reasonable to think that the stock price will be going down? Selling at the peak is good advice. If Microsoft buys Novell, this isn't the peak, but since Microsoft won't buy Novell, selling is a highly reasonable thing to do. If you think otherwise, why don't you put your money where your mouth is and buy, say, a thousand shares. You have nothing to lose, right, since selling Novell stock is such bad advice.
In this case, the precise definition of "looks random" really, really matters. There are many ways you can define it (data doesn't compress, has no "patterns", etc...) but for most well-known encryption algorithms, there is probably a definition completely missed by the creators, which is easy to test. It should not be difficult to distinguish (with good certainty) random data from "random-looking" encrypted data when given the device on which the data was created. It's very popular, but silly, to think that distinguishing "random-looking" encrypted data from random data is hard. I bet *most* scientists (in the appropriate disciplines) could do this in a reasonable amount of time.
Then you create a 50 MB hidden volume, which is stored at the end of the partition. You put your top secret files in there, dismount it, and remount the main volume. The main volume still says "100 MB total, 75 MB free", and the free space still appears to be full of random bytes (since the hidden volume is encrypted), but they're different random bytes than they were at first.
Since the random data in the "free space" was created using a well-known algorithm (whatever truecrypt uses) it is not hard to distinguish this from encrypted data, which is definitely not random.
You are joking, but back when biking was my primary form of transportation, I would barely break a sweat after commuting 6-7 miles, and I didn't feel dirty either. And no, I didn't smell bad. I just starting biking again after a 5 year car hiatus, and I sweat a lot more. But that will change soon.
Doesn't T-mobile have such a plan? $100 for 1000 minutes, and "no hidden charges". I haven't used it, so I can't verify if they're being truthful about the no hidden charges.
- Relatively low murder rate
- Democracy in more than name only
- Mostly WASP population
- English Speaking
- Technologically forward looking
- Good infrastructure
- No thought police, DMCA or Dumbya.
Is this one of those puzzles where you try to figure out the item in the list which doesn't belong?
I wish users could pick the ask slashdot questions. Alas, starting a new site wouldn't work because it won't have the same traffic as slashdot. We lose.
I think the point is that the US govt now finds suspect any seemingly leftist cause, and he's just basically resisting tyranny. Also, he's not broke and underpriveleged, and such people tend not to receive the harshest punishments, so to him it's probably worth resisting.
If you can stand hearing "oh my god, I was horrible at math!" every time you meet someone, then a math degree (applied) is probably a better choice. You can still do programming and management stuff, as well as a whole new world of other things, and best of all, chicks really dig math majors.
DVI, for those who have the fonts, which you would if you were trying to read a DVI in your field. File size is 1/100 of any competing format. DVI can be converteed to ANY other appropriate format, and the conversion from DVI to any other format is mind-boggling fast. Go to arxiv.org and be enlightened.
Whenener I posted this opinion on this here forum, I was modded as a troll.
Haven't you noticed that when people begin their posts with "I'm going to get modded troll for this..." they usualy get +5 Insightful instead? Try it sometime.
Same thing happened to me at Mcdonalds 10 years ago.
Bitter Youth at Register: What size drink would you like? I: Medium. Bitter Youth: We don't have medium anymore. We just have small, large, and extra large. I: (bursts into laughter, because I don't think she's serious) Umm, I'll have a large.
Wait, did you miss out on that book he was going to publish? Y'know, the one called "How I Would Have Done It"?
So you expect the jury members to jump into a time machine and read the book? Man, you still haven't gotten over the O.J. verdict.

Brilliant idea. You can reserve those unused rooms in your local library during the day.

Hey guys, what's taking so long? Go ahead and mod this up to +5 Interesting. This is Bruce Perens speaking, you know.

Good point. EXCEPT.. Nobody uses Mac OS =9 anymore. Also, maybe this fact you mention says something about the awesome security of Macs :)

What about Amazon S3? Sorry, just kidding.

If a higher demand for RAM results in lower prices (big IF), then I'm all for it.
The theory is that free trade will turn them into a democracy.
This has never been the reason the U.S. promotes "free trade". You shouldn't repeat it without thinking about it.

Can you explain that one?
Wouldn't you want to do these things separately anyway?

Is this the part of the kernel that's responsible for making systems really slow during extended disk writes, while the CPU utilization is minimal?
There is no reason that it needs to cost so much to create non-editable documents.
It doesn't. pdflatex is free.
PoDoFo http://podofo.sourceforge.net/ too
