Hey, I just pre-ordered my copy of Neverwinter Nights from TuxGames, which coincidentally was $5 USD cheaper (even after shipping) than any other e-tailer. I dont know about you, but most games worth playing that have come out recently have had Linux support.
There is still a long way to go (Jedi Knight 2, etc.) but no platform wins out of the starting gate, and gaming on Linux is relatively young. I will keep buying the games that support Linux (and browse my campus net for the ones that dont!).
IIRC, ATI has moved to a unified driver similar to NVidia's. There is one driver for each platform (Radeon, Rage) for each OS. This isnt as "unified" as NVidia's strategy, but still a great improvement and a demonstration that there can be further unification in the future.
This is part of the reason that they have been able to release new cards so quickly with drivers that dont suck.
> What would be cute is if they had a "Brought to you by..." message
> during the splash screen for the driver.
Ah, but the X11 license would allow you to change the source quite easily. No more stupid splash screens (although, I have grown kind of fond of the NVidia splash). Thank God for Open Source.
Actually there is much more evidence for the existence of Christian's God. The evidence lies in the historical accounts of Jesus. Not including the Bible, there are many historically validated recordings of Jesus. These recordings were written by non-believing Romans and other people completely unattached to the religion. Unlike mythologies of other cultures, there is historical evidence confirming that there was indeed a Jesus guy, who came from Nazareth, and did something that caught the attention Romans thousands of miles away, and other civilizations across the region.
What are these companies thinking. Everyone knows that it is technically impossible to have a "unbreakable" system... oh, wait. My mistake. Oracle has had one for a while now... ahem.
I tend to agree with this point somewhat. The benevolent dictatorship model has proven to be by far the most efficient model for open source programming (Linux kernel). Ideally the world would work in a similar way: one ultimate being dictates what should happen (and its good) and people do it (and the result is good).
Seriously though, how often do problems like this occur? I never have important information entrusted to the care of any single person, including myself, for reasons that this article should make apparent.
Sorry. Let me clarify. In general I think the government should stay out of my business. I want the minimal amount of government involvement in my daily affairs. However, it is my opinion that the monitoring of these and other fiber optic communication channels is a good thing.
Despite the prevalent opinion on Slashdot (and my own) the government does need the ability to monitor telecommunications. Given proper authority by warrants and what-not, the government should be given every possible tool and ability to protect the nation, within sensible limits, always.
> Yeah and while they're at it, that Mona Lisa chick could sure use a makeover.
> Maybe straighten that damned tower too.
Actually, the tower (Leaning Tower of Pisa, I assume) has been straightened out. since the tower was built on what is essentially a sand pocket, the tower has been leening further and further since its creation. Within the last few years many millions of dollars were spent to straighten and reinforce the tower to keep it from collapsing entirely. Just some background information.
BSD is dying just like slack! I have always hated slack, when I was forced to leave it I decided to hate it forever! Slack may be fine for j00 n00bs, but not this 1337 H4X0r!
This is a troll. I grew up on Slack since '95. Go slack!
As I was going to purchase my subscription to ELJ, I saw that they were no longer taking any orders. Confused, I decided to visit/. for a while... if only I could have registered more quickly... then there would still be an ELJ! Damn you slow typing! Damn you to Hell!
Well, you are completely correct except for one simple fact: humans are required for information/knowledge to exist. Without humans there is no knowledge. Now because "knowledge" is defined in terms of humanity, it shares certain human characteristics. Humans at the most basic level want to share almost all information. While not _all_ humans want to share _all_ information, similarly not _all_ information "wants" to be free.
Universal affirmatives can only be partially converted... so in conclusion sex is more fun than logic.
to see how this technology proceeds. I can see some interesting applications if efficient heat dissipation techniques like these become more commercially prevalent, although it would also be nice to see the progress be made on the proc side instead...
this is all well and good, but the article never describes where these lights are purported to be useful. If these lights are not going to be marketed to the house, Bluetooth and others will be unaffected in the home. I seriously doubt that any business with any substantial investment in wireless for their offices would use these lights if it involved a replacement of their wireless infrastructure. Yes, there is a danger to wireless communication posed by the use of these lights. But then again, whenever I have my computer with its case off too close to my TV I cant get half of the broadcast channels.
Would those drivers come with Ohta commentary? Fukui-san! You've got mail! STFU Ohta! Fukui-san! Argh!

I am sorry. The phrase is ambiguous. I didnt mean you specifically, just future posters who might flame me badly.

Do some research before you discredit me.

Almost.
I am Batman.

Argh! You stole _my_ sig! :)
more about their fabrication process. Their "unique SEX process" intriques me...
The comment he made proves nothing. It proves that he disagrees with your views. Freedom of speech is a bitch like that.

Cost of new black ink cartridge for my printer: $40
Cost of laser printer with toner on eBay: $50
Maybe they should just sell disposable printers instead.

Ever hear of Schroedinger's Cat?

Bullshit! Information does not want anything

> No one can tell you what the matrix is, but a TI-86 can solve for it in seconds.
Ah, that it can. With a little matlab (or octave) fun, you can solve any matrix even ones that aren't linearly independent.
Well, if you thought these two previous posts were scary, try searching for Sex explosion" with its over 286,000 hits.
Gives new meaning to "the earth moved" doesn't it?
