Doesn't that imply there's physical feel to what you are pressing? I skimmed the article but didn't see that the "Tactile" feature of this product was explained. It must be pretty important feature since it's the FIRST part of it's name "TDA". Or do they just mean "Thumb Digital Assistant".
Until they make a touchscreen that truly has tactile feedback - so with your eyes closed (or perhaps you are blind?) you can feel the edges and contours of buttons on the screen, then I won't be impressed.
Maybe that's where they are going with future versions of this device?
Not sure it's appropriate to make the connection between the author's "last man standing" metaphor (in *nix wars reference) and evolution. Because, the main point the author is attempting to make is that people's emotions and egotism is what's causing *nix to be it's own worst enemy. It's more likely the features (and incompatibilities and strange quirks) remain forever not because they are superior but because they keep getting spliced back in (genetic manupulation of an evolutionary process) by developers who "prefer" them (not because it's a good idea to keep around).
Yep, that's been my opinion for years also - both beliefs fit nicely together. God, as creator/programmer... He created our universe using an "Evolution" framework. Set things in motion, and it's still working today. And there you have Creation and Evolution together.
Isn't every program you write something created out of nothing? I know this is oversimplification, but it's an analogy that works for me.
As for Creationist vs Evolutionist... I say nuts to the left, nuts to the right. That's why I stick to the middle!

Let's take a look at the official statistics for a moment (i.e. the facts):
1998 - 0 attacks in North America
1999 - 2 attacks in North America
2000 - 0 attacks
2001 - 4 attacks
2002 - 0
2003 - 0
So, that's 6 attacks from 1998-2003, and compare this to the 1,857 attacks EVERYWHERE ELSE in the world for the same period! Geesh.

this is what's new in PHP 5...
Summary:
Zend Engine II has Object-Oriented
development features for component-based enterprise applications
uh, adoption = finding a family for a child. it's ALL about the child when you're doing an adoption. don't have a child. there's plenty of children that aren't wanted out there, abused, etc... THEY need a caring, nurturing family.
huh, nope, no I, me, or us used in all of above - it's as selfless as it gets when you turn the situation around like that...
At the last superbowl, SI photographers used flash memory. they swapped 'em out as they filled them and had someone running them back to a processing center where they dumped them and started filtering (keeping good shots, trashing the rest). they took literally MILLION+ photos at the superbowl.
So, I do see them using wireless cameras to cover a sporting event - but minus lugging the notebook around... I'd imagine base stations to ensure coverage and then beaming them back to processing tent. Course, if I was beaming my media back and missed a cover shot I'd be po'd!.. just SI better get two of these for each photographer!
I have an old notebook that the screen has come detacted from (i.e. screen works, computer works, but two halves are now detached). It's even got a LinkSys wireless PCMCIA card!
I wonder if Wallflower provides any sort of refurbishing service or kits to turn my "bruised but not broken" hardware into a WiFi picture frame? If not, might be an additional revenue stream/modified business model to think about, eh?
They should definately also subsidize in-car GPS with ability to receive these navigation warnings...
The passive part of the system seems like only half of the answer:
It gathers live data from 125 infrared sensors posted at major streets and 40 Webcams at key intersections. It combines these data with past patterns, including speed, flow, construction sites, road closings, temperature and precipitation, and feeds them into a battery of computers. The machines then tell city drivers the quickest way to get from point A to point B.
This is all clearly a hoax, or possibly even a PR stunt by Valve themselves.
There's even a funny employee bio (Chris Newcombe) that changes on the Valve site very often (here), and the employee's name is found in this "leaked source" also.

MD supports downloading transactions... there's a comment about that on MadPenguin's site.
I'm not sure if the program handles those 'send' transactions though - would have to download the free demo to find out I 'spose.
Unfortunately, I've been using Quicken so long, and have filed several years Tax returns using TurboTax (which imports directly from Quicken)... that I'm not sure MoneyDance is robust enough for me (or my degree of laziness) to be worth switching (even for $30). *shrug*
I've implemented a knowledge container for myself on a web server... so I have a place to easily create "notes" about stuff I need to know and reference.
I know I could have just used text documents in folders, or HTML pages, but using phpwiki is much more convienent - since the editor is built-in... and creating a link to an existing topic is as easy as putting brackets around it's page name and I can access my notes from any machine with a web browser and access to the net.
So, when Englebart talks of "knowledge containers" as a way to deal with the ever more complex world we live in... I immediately thought, wow, I already have one of those... "my notes" on my phpwiki site.
I throw these comments out there, in the hope that perhaps someone else seeking a "knowledge container" of their own might check out phpwiki!
"APC recommends that the user immediately remove the UPS unit from service by turning off all connected equipment, turning the UPS unit off, and then unplugging the unit from the electrical outlet" and then back away slowly...
In all seriousness, I just checked my serial number against the ranges affected and found that I have one of them. drat! now I have to bother with calling them and figuring out how they're handling an exchange or whatever.
yup, you are right, the computrainer does appear to have a "electronic load generator" attached to the rear wheel. this definately fits the requirements I mentioned. cool!
...but for off-season training to stay in shape when the weather doesn't cooperate very often, it would be a fun reason to ride indoors. Using a standard resistance indoor trainer with your existing bike isn't exactly as rewarding as riding outdoors "for real".
I don't think anybody has done it "right" yet. I've been waiting and watching... for some sort of contraption that you could place your own bike on which could vary the resistance based on feedback from game (i.e. if you are going up hill, then it should be harder to pedal, etc). And all the proper controls easily mountable/dismountable from handlebars...
If someone made a quality piece of equipment that could enhance excercising indoors on a trainer, then that would definately be something - for the off-season.
Actually, I noticed that article this morning and immediately fast-forwarded the idea 5-10+years into future. Imagine when technology makes it very easy to capture details about a subject and using an intelligent filtering agent enter it into a/. type info stream that's scrubbed and broadcast to consumers based on their tastes. maybe you want to see/hear/read about every bit of info that happens about X...
Blogging is stupid and very self-indulgent at this point, but imagine if someone were to commercialize the process and technology like this is in the hands of every person.
scary, but it's just the idea of the masses using the same sort of tech the government plans to implement as part of homeland security department...
There used to be a site that let you enter a list of groups you like, and it listed more spiraling out (inner being most like your sound) - and in one direction was music more in the mainstream but with similar sound, and the other direction spiraled out list of bands not so well known.
I think it was called Firefly. unfortunatly, the site is no longer.
However, here is a very comprehensive site that has a similar feature (but only for one particular band at a time):
Ah the famous Wookie defense. (South Park reference)

Because Infogrames owns the rights to the Atari name, and have decided to use it (instead of their own name Infogrames)...

I think Enter The Matrix was the first new release Infogrames, I mean Atari?, used the Atari company logo on.

Asking for government regulation is like asking for a hole in the head - sure, it would serve a purpose, but to what end?

According to a jargon definition site, ICBM Address... Lat/Long plus target Elevation would be a real missle address.
