How can this be modded informative?

KDE is not a part of the linux OS any more than lightstep is part of the windows os. That's just bananas.

We're not talking KDE + YaST, we're talking KDE. KDE installs on many systems, even windows. What happens when you install KDE on a LFS system or a FreeBSD system or a Sun box? I'm glad you love your packaging system, but it isn't developed by KDE.

It wasn't a 'who has more free stuff available to download/install later' comment or a 'who has better software' comment. Get a life you sycophant, feel free to join the discussion after you lose the OMG LINUX IS RAD agenda and actually read what people write.

Supercomputers have never been a huge market in terms of volume. By your reasons the supercomputer market should have collapsed long before many of us first used a computer.

Let's say you build a large supercomputer that someone buys for an obscene amount of money. Now you hit him with a yearly maintence fee to keep his shit up to par. Not to mention any other types of fees you can slap on customer (consulting, development, upgrades...). This is all depending on the contract.

Now extrapolate a dozen or so of these computers and you're really pulling in some regular cash.

Really, it's not that hard to put 2 and 2 together.

'Had heavy optomizations for quake three' is quite simple compared to 'half the preformance code'. That's pretty shocking.

I can tell you from first hand experience from handling of major news, the US media lacks a certain amount of professionalism. I'm not a 'US SUCKS' parroter, but your news media is incredibly weak.

when a major story breaks out, their seems to be a need to put a sensational headline on it (Heroes in the Sky/Our Nation Under Attack/...) and then play it up in a frantic manner. Once the real news stops, focus shifts to constant 'reaction' updates (Our Emergency Workers, American Heroes/School Children Prepare for the Next Attack/People Still Fucking Terrified of them Crazy Snipers...). I find that american news is more focused on ratings and getting the most heart-wrenching anecdote then actually reporting the days news.

Every peice of news is going to have a spin on it, but in my comparison of all 3 countries, I have to say the BBC is my favorite newscast to watch.
