  1. The reasons behind crunch time... on Work Environment for Game Developers Must Change · · Score: 4, Insightful

...is bad management, plain and simple.
If game development teams had better management and more realistic timelines, the programmers would not have to pull 12-hour shifts and we would be seeing higher quality titles on the market.

I agree with the court's ruling in this case. Most blogs that I read are statements of opinion, but that doesn't make them journalism. Yes, bloggers write on subjects of interest, but many do not even attempt to present well-rounded, unbiased arguments.
The title of "journalist" should be reserved for those who are really journalists.

Who hasn't violated their patent rights?

Travel around your house and collect dust. 16. New Graphic Cards are Just Toys? on Mobile Gaming At Desktop Speeds · · Score: 1

I have recently moved from an old Pentium (1) clone (500 mHz) with an ATI Rage Pro to a nice and crisp Athlon 1700+ with 512 DDR memory, and a Geforce 2 MX. My hard drive is also fast, 7200 rpms. I am a little interested in why there is any need to upgrade to the new nVidia chips. My computer can crank out ~450 fps if I am just gaming (and I can easily keep my minimum fps above 200 in UnrealTournament if I am also playing mp3s in the background). This is great, and will probably be enough for a while. The only problem is that my monitor's refresh rate's at 85 hertz. Shouldn't people like me upgrade our monitors quite a bit before we even touch our graphics cards again, or am I not understanding something?
