Nice job, you just gave them a case to argue. Now they will order the websites to provide a garbled sound file speaking the letters in a voice so annoying that no speech reconition software will dare parse.
By the way i'm left handed and i'm STILL waiting for my keypad to jump to the right side. (even though I think left handers have a superior setup for gaming, mouse offset with the keypad)
When starcraft came out, why would people still consider playing war2?
THE SHIPS!
Having sea battles was one of the biggest hopes I had for war3 when it first came out. The least they could have done was give the giant turtles a cameo appearance. Alas me lads, no boats be sailing with this shipment.
I lost interest in warcraft my brother had the beta but I just wasn't interested. I'd look at the screen load up, and reminise about the days of sea battle... when it loaded i'd just hit exit and go sit it my room.
Wifey and I to hawaii for our honeymoon. The McDonalds there had a breakfast spam meal. We were curious, but decided against it.
Spam has some very beneficial uses, in fact I have the montey python mp3 linked on my desktop incase a telemarketer calls. When they ask for the man of the house I ask them to hold and place the phone by my speaker. I've only done it twice but the last time I would pick the phone up and ask "Did he pick up yet? no, gosh i'll find him for you" and set it down, almost had him listen to the whole thing, dont know how long the first person stayed. I should record the conversation on the answering machine. Another great tactic if you dont have the clip handy is just start screaming into the air SPAM! while they are making their pitch, dont yell into their ears its more fun to listen to them crack up during their speech.
And by the way, good job honeywell! you'll rights to the spam trademark when this is over.
Not that there is something terribly wrong with toshiba I just dont have them at the top of the IQ list in my book, afterall they run Broadvision on their website (shudder). Some of their older laptops look like a tyco toy, but they work fine.
What happens if you get busted for sharing music? Are you now legally responsible for your neighbors actions or are you free and clear because no one knows (not even you) who did the alleged file sharing. Logs? we dont need no stinking logs.
supporting a neighborhood network can have alot of benefits if you plan it out. Consider kazaa on one single shared server that everone can remote desktop into to download, then everyone has instant access to what the others have downloaded. Now when someone finds a cool game everyone else can get interested in and you have an instant wlan party. Suddenly its more convinient to download tv shows then recording them.
The beuty of the internet is you can connect to japan as fast as your neighbor, the problem with the internet is you connect to your neighbor just as fast as japan. Wifi can change alot if you allow it.
Aherm, "If you're located in an area that only qualifies for IDSL or T1 services, setting up NetShare in your neighborhood would allow all surrounding locations to contribute to the cost of a T1 circuit while sharing in high quality broadband access!"
This does not mean an exclusive offer for those with T1/iDSL, just that its actually reasonable for them to get service now. Looks like you can share aDSL just fine.
Ok my the new patent system works like this, you have to apply for the patent before you actually invent it, if the invention exists at all at the time you first place you patent you are denied (this would include if you already have a product on the market and you are just now patenting it). Second your patent is put in holding where anyone else can see it and if someone else produces a working model within the time frame the patent is void.
If the point of patents is to encourage research as opposed to monopolistic tactics then this will do it.

... I dunno I figured if I said it twice maybe I could belive it.
I was thinking about workarounds for the RIAA, there are alot of decent bands out there. What if they just did cover songs of current popular msuic anonymously and released them on the P2P. My copyright is a little fuzzy but I belive they can do live performances and they are definutly not allowed to profit from it. But what if someone records their garage playings, masters the tracks and releases them. Who gets the C&D now? Granted musicians spend hundreds of hours to produce a track but it can't be nearly as hard when you have a baseline of what you want it to sound like.
Isn't 50 years kind of a long time to wait before even *considering* the copyright null? Sounds like a lot of work to shave off the last 20-30 years of a copyright.
If 7-11 did start to log your slurpy consumption, who cares?
The only possible reason I can see concern is if they were sharing the information with other companys that have a direct effect upon you like insurance. Go buy a 24 pack of budweiser at the gas station and see your car insurance spike up because they assume you will end up with a DUI. Scary picture? Well if you paid for the beer with your ATM/debit card then they already have all the information they need! And its alot more accurate then the RFID on the T-shirt your girlfriend bought you for christmas. What is stopping this from happening is their policy not to share information. If you dont trust their policy then THATS what your argument should be.
But if you are trying to withold technology advancement because you dont trust people with it... First stop using all banking facilities and second, get the hell of slashdot, they use cookies.
Have all computers powered up and in fully working order. Turn off the screensavers and make sure the monitor doesn't turn off, and that the network icon is active so they can see that it is connected. You want a nice fat green start menu just begging to be pressed. Now for the entire course anyone who touches their computer gets an immediate F.
Any programmer who can actually acheive their needs even using existing GPL code will still take at best 6 months to make it. And then your married to that designer for the lifetime of that product. Who incidently costs $80,000 a year, so... Best case scenario your software cost $40,000 but is useless without your service contract at $80,000 a year.
Thats assuming your project doesn't become a deathmarch like 4 out of 5 other projects like this.
p.s. Why hire an $80,000 programmer when you can hire 3 $20,000 ones and take twice as long!
Evidently, firms are now re-evaluating their software purchases, and finding that they're not working out the way the sales guys told them they would.
re-evaluation doesn't mean refund. It means lets spend more money and hope it works this time! (or maybe the existing vendor has an upgrade solution! we can use our relationship to get a great discount!)
The revolution has to come from the businesses who buy the software. And the sound of that revolution would be "I know what I want, I want a,b and c". Venders would be in utter shock, many will fail because they are not used to actually making what is demanded only what they think/know it should be.
This is great for skinning i'd like to see people finish it up with some software that will mesh the images together in a batch proccess. Then you can get as detail as you'd like (1 pixel width per shot anyone?)
But what I really would like is some info on how to make meshes. I've heard about people using lamp projectors with grids on them, shine that one the persons face and then the software can follow the gridpoints making a mesh.
Then use a similar technique to follow body movements (flashlights at all the joints/tips on a body in a dark room)
Exciting times..
With a mesh and skinning proccess simplified and cheap enough for anone interested.
Anyone play the board game risk? The basic strategy is to conquer the world and with 4 players most of the time is spent deciding who is the largest threat to the whole and everyone attacks that one player.
The game would never end if it wasn't for the high stakes injected into the game to give players a boost strong enough to knock other players over.

I'm worried about this category

Did you ever get your xbox/ps2?
California has a nickel "redemtion value" although i'm not sure if you can actually redeem it?
The state of sun babes and scandals.
Good news everyone I have if figured out.

Bastard /. linking to websites that can't hanlde the load.
Throw in a couple of "well they may be small but they can't handle a website very well"
Dont worry, it will come to you.
www.kazaalite.nl
download it, just try to, I dare you.

Anyone have any ideas on where I can get a scanner, or how much they are, or if there are standards for them?
Screw privacy i'm worried about having to have 10 different scanners to keep track of my fridge inventory!
Why would this not work?
In the above scenario you would have to add a second camera at a 90 degree angle from the first one.
But the result is you have full x,y,z cordinates for each section, right?
