If I understand correctly, if I were sitting in my chair , but I somehow moved (much) further away from the center of a star cluster, there would be less gravitons randomly appearing in the empty vacuum of space around me. And the effect of this would be that my mass would not be affected by the stars as much because of the missing gravitons.
Are the effects of these less-sparsely appearing gravitons enough to effect my own mass' ability to produce gravitons? Will my accelleration or speed affect the gravitons between me and the closest large mass?
Haha yeah I read about that incident. The guy was most concerned that play would be Bettis' last after a great career; and not that the Steelers would lose.
BTW, take that terrible towel and wipe your eyes, because next year the Lions are coming after you!
I experienced a guy pointing a revolver at my head and pulling the trigger twice. Thankfully it was not loaded, and I was able to beat the shit out of him. Still, in the ensuing months, my mind, seemingly on it's own, would replay the events over and over. I can still remember every little detail now, 5 years later, but it's at my own discretion.
Perhaps these pills could help to stop the mind from obsessing and going over and over the events that caused the trauma. Yeah, it was good for me to resolve the feelings and thoughts on my own, but it was almost torture to have my mind so pre-occupied with the event. Concentrating on anything other than the event was near impossible. So if this pill could have brought the obsessive thoughts down to only a week as opposed to a month, all the better.
I can only imagine that the time and pain produced by traumatic events that some people go through would be simply unbearable. A woman who accidently kills her own child; a man who witnesses a catastrophe; a teenager who looses an arm - good riddance to those intrusive memories.
1. Downloading music with crappy bit rates, clicks, pops, and incomplete songs.
2. Downloading "fake" songs that are only garbled nonsense.
3. Downloading songs in zip or rar format that require a password to unzip.
4. Ominous feelings that the RIAA will slap my neighbor with a cease and desist letter because he lets me use his wireless connection.
Perhaps the record companies could take a look at #1 and release some decent quality songs with caveats. Something like reduced quality, incomplete, or with a small advert at the end of the recording that says: Purchase this song, video, and other exclusive features at www.youmustpayforyourtoppings.com. Maybe if they flood the networks with new releases with these annoyances, people will pay for legitamate full-featured, full-versioned copies.
Yeah the only removable storage media I've been seriously considering is SATA. However, the amount of systems with externally available SATA ports is pretty small. One of those new 7200RPM laptop drives with a SATA drive enclosure would probably be a light-enough/fast-enough removable-bootable media.
I recently made reservations with the Marina in Cabo for my parents who were on a 42' sailboat with the service http://skymate.com/. Their service description says it is the global, low cost alternative to expensive 'by the minute' satellite services or low coverage, unpredictable cellular providers. It worked very well and the folks were able to send me GPS coordinates (26.26 n, 113.57 w), as well as updates and the request to contact the marina. Email I believe is limited to 1000 characters. Still, I was impressed.
It's really pretty trivial because although China does use blocking techniques for it's citizens, what it mostly tries to do is sway public opinions by inserting "pro-state" quotes and messages in forums and chat discussions. China knows it can't block everything so it tries to manage content as best as possible. I think they pay their "Pro-China" government posters something like 50 cents for every 10 posts. For that kind of money, I'd be stinking poor in my pro-slashdot fund.
Although the review had okay pictures, their testing procedures in the review seemed a bit lacking. I'd like a further in depth review of the battery life - how long does the battery last when using Office apps, vs. watching a DVD, vs. keeping track of football stats on a sunday afternoon at home.
Thank you everyone! I just wanted to write of my appreciation for those readers who will unabashedly bash the slashdot editors for dupes like this. It renews my faith and gives me a good chuckle.
Also, I suppose all the comments about dupes are dupes of themselves, so instead of duping dupes, one dupe comment is sufficient, no? We could be called the biggest dupes of them all!
I love Firefox's Master Password. Although I use very secure pw's for my banking, forums, and pretty much anything else, I dislike having to type them in over and over as I go through my bookmarks. I set my gmail notifier to run logged in when I start my browser, so whenever I open my browser, I am asked for my master password which is very high on the password-meter scale. Now I can surf the web logged into all of my sites. If there was a biometric system like a finger print reader that could be associated with the Firefox master password, it would be a benefit, but I'm pretty happy with it's current configuration.
Most Fortune 500 companies use IIS webservers - running Solaris 10, or porting linux or BSD to these machines will probably continue to be the reason Sun loses market share to HP or Dell. Companies will continue to buy servers with MS OS's on them in greater quantities, don't you think?
I plan on creating a holographic image of myself sitting in front of my PC, so when the boss looks in his spycam or walks by, I will be sitting there working diligently.
The next incarnation of the Pentium M, codenamed Yonah, taped out in mid-September 2004 and is due to ship in late 2005 for volume introduction in early 2006. Yonah is a dual-core design targeted for manufacturing on a 65 nm process, and will be Intel's first dual-core processor designed from scratch.
Yonah consists of two cores based on the Banias/Dothan microarchitecture, a 2MB L2 cache shared by both cores, and an arbiter bus that controls L2 cache and FSB access. Floating point performance has been drastically improved through the addition of SSE3 instructions and improvements to SSE and SSE2 implementations. Yonah also includes Vanderpool (VT) virtualization technology and the ability to disable one core to conserve power. EM64T (Intel's name for AMD64) will not be available in Yonah.
Yonah is expected to launch at clock speeds up to 2.16 GHz with a 667 MHz FSB (166 MHz quad-pumped). A single core version will also be available, and a cut-down version of that will be marketed under the Celeron M brand.
In early 2005, rumors began circulating that Intel was considering tweaking the Yonah core for a possible release on the desktop. Confidential Intel presentations also indicate that Intel intends to release a version of Yonah, codenamed Sossaman, for blade servers. Sossaman will be marketed as Xeon LV and ULV. The only difference between Yonah and Sossaman cores will be the capability of the second to be used in 2-way systems.
Several news sources speculate that Apple will use this processor in its Mac Mini and iBook lines beginning in early to mid 2006.
What intel needs to do is build a dual-core 2.0 ghz pentium M 64 bit chip that can run in laptops, add ddr2/sata/pci-x support and Wimax. Then they could brand that Centrino-WX or something. And make it affordable. You get right on that Intel mkay?
Okay so would this be an improvement over my laptop at home (PIII800 + 380MB PC100 & 10GB HD + wireless)? I leave it on at home all the time mostly in order to occasionally pop in and start a bittorrent download or FTP. Also, what hardware would I need to get this on a wireless network?
Okay so some luser has a Windows 2000 P866 w/256mb of PC100 memory, that's repleat with spyware, has every type of "spyware remover" installed on it, still has 15 popups at boot time, is doesn't even have USB2 and their webcam doesn't work on it anyway. So why not trash that POS and go get a new $400 computer. What are they going to do, sell it? Who has the time and if they do sell it, how do they know the new user won't find every document they've ever written and steal their identity.
As much as I wish I could, I can't do this. I've tried. Especially laptop users. However, as far as I know, Citrix doesn't have a web client that works well with Firefox. Additionally, too many managers rely on Active-x based "Share my desktop" collaboration and meeting utilities. Not to mention all of the Webinars. A few geeks here get it and will run both browsers. The majority of users complain if they hit a snag browsing with Firefox and want IE back.
Get yourself a nice super long battery life laptop like the Toshiba R100. Attach laptop Solar Panel battery charger. Put it in water proof container. Set it to auto-hibernate at night and auto-wakeup in the morning. Find an open WAP. Put it somewhere it can't be seen or ripped off (like on a roof or in a car). Remotely access through anonymizer. Download to your hearts content. Oh yeah if you suspect they'll come looking attach a webcam with motion detection and be ready to hit "rm -rf/"
so are these machines (individual pc's) not hot swappable? Taking down the entire machine because a node goes down seems extreame. I would think that VIA isn't pushing out enough of these chips and M-10000's to get this thing together. $2/GB is cheap I wonder what filing system it uses?
