  1. Re:Global Patent Jurisdiction on EU Moves Towards Single European Patent Standard · · Score: 1

Wait a minute, does that not mean that by setting up data havens in smaller countries, we could get as much reverse engineered code, music and other copyrighted materials dwon as possible, and then create a local equivalent of the GPL(BSD or your own favourite open software model) and stick all under that, so that should patenting change - its already licensed..
Tell me where ... I'll glady move and set up my own server... hehe...
Also maybe some very decent intrusion detection - so we can destroy MPAA and RIAA computers before than can ours.. After all -we are only defending our property(the server is our property).

How tired are you of always reading US copyright law, and US copyright campaigns, and not having the slightest clue what the equivalents in the UK are?

Obviously it seemd good from the outside- are there any real truckers on slashdot who would like to comment?
Anyway - I think we could soon see top of the range inner city cars with wifi (if they arent available already). It makes a lot of sense - like a wifi based map system and a GPS or something..

IF they are that regular, they are surely tied into scripts. In which case, the scripts could forewarn the fuse script that they will be communicating the big file, so it can suspend its monitoring of that specific connection, while still monitoring other nodes on the netwokr that are not realted to that activity.

You know, it is just that which makes a problem. If all the programmers who are salaried didnt work unpaid overtime, them it wouldnt be expected. But the truth is many programmers (including myself) are gutless and socially inept, and have very little, if any actual say in deadline dates. If I was not to work overtime, I dont finish the project, and to be honest- I would not hear the end of that.
To make it worse, they use royalties (I work for a game company) like a carrot on a stick, to get young enthusiastic and naive uni-leavers to work stupid hours (one member of our team was getting pats on the back for doing a 96 hour week) without remuneration. The reality is the royalties were crap - and hardly bought anyone a mars bar. In my view, that is just taking the proverbial...
Unfortunately, this year sees a new draft of uni-leavers, just as eager to be ripped off as those who left before.
I have already decided I am going to leave the games industry- as there are better paid programming jobs... But I also want to ensure I have a good CV first - buy not stitching them up near the end of a long-running project.

Of course a tax would be levied on a body to regulate the car safety - but we already have the MOT for that and motor tax. So it is just ford and GM who would loose out...
Think about the MOT on custom vehicals - most of the designs for which are published on owners web sites - and actively encourage people to make copies with a little of their own style. I admit - I do not know what the US equivalent of MOT is.

I agree - in that I always think that the time a band should make real money is by making real live appearances.
Now - for a talented band to hire a recording studio, and release recordings of there work(and no perfect digital recording is ever good as a real live performance), thereby promoting themselves - so when they do go live they get many listeners. That and also through things like the stret-artist license. I already have paid artists on the street, or paid to see live performances.
I have already used the internet to bid voluntary sums for artists I really like.
To be honest- being an artist myself - I always MP3 my own work, and share it online. Its not my day job, and I do not intend to make money out of it. I just enjoy creating my music, and the reactions sometimes of other listening to it. Although I may consider placing it on a site where people can make the SAL donations...

It might be difficult to get initial funding - but I am sure there are some manufacturing processes which would be considerably easier in Zero-G. The big boundary is getting there and back, but if enough businesses are trying to do this - then the technology WILL be advanced- the systems of transit will become safer, cheaper and quicker.
