The PSP isn't suited for such a device at all, how are you going to easily get input into it? Heck a multi-function IR remote would be better than a PSP, using the control pad, analog stick or buttons just is not a viable input method for doing just about anything other than play games or watch movies (or listen to music I guess but I prefer something I can fit in my pocket for that).
I fail to see how people keep touting the PSP as this great multi-function device and how cool it will be once an official web browser is released, yeah that is until you get sick of typing in URL's via the on screen keyboard, heck it pisses me off no end just typing in things like the name of a wireless network I can't imagine typing something like a reply to a Slashdot post on it.
Except for the lack of an IR port the DS with it's touch screen is much more suited as a multi function device. I can just see a browser being released with the browser on the top screen and the keyboard along with scroll bars on the bottom touch screen, now that would be nifty!
Do you really think PC Gamers make up the majority of people that purchase PC's? Do you see Apple trying to target PC gamers? Do you think they even care about PC gamers?
Whose business are they missing anyway even if a Google for Tiger presented only Apple results? Is Joe sixpack going to go online to buy some computer parts and search for "tiger"???
I think you will find that a lot of OSS developers use quite old hardware to develop on, I know for sure a lot of the KDE developers use similar machines to yours. I think the situation you describe is more applicable in the commercial software world.
All it involves is using the existing "hack" for the browser embedded in Wipeout Pure to load a normal website that just happens to control various devices around the home.
It doesn't use the PSP's IR port or anything like that and as it uses the Wipeout browser it is an absolutely pain to load as Wipeout has a rediculous number of button presses and a large load time to get into the game.
Nifty yes but not exactly a PSP hack at all, it's just like the "IRC client" for the PSP that was just a web page.
Oh man... I'm not having a good track record today, I knew I should have stayed in bed. Serves me right for not looking that up first and making an assumption...
What he seems to be saying is that *IF* the market wants more of the same but with better graphics etc then it might be hard to attract third party developers to the Revolution, assumedly because the Revolution is going to be so different that those games couldn't easily (if at all) be ported to the Revolution.
I'll second that, for $9.99 a month you can't really beat the value for money with what you get - PHP + MySQL plus phpmyadmin to manage your own MySQL databases.
Only problems I have had is with their webmail services, I keep meaning to setup my own in my account there but never get around to it and last I looked the two solutions they were trialling weren't very good. But I have my gmail and.mac accounts for that anyway.
FileFront had a poll and produced a result and I am supposed to take it as gospel why exactly?
I've never heard of FileFront before and I'm quite the internet junkie so how in any way what so ever do they represent Nintendo's marketshare? Nintendo's target market isn't Slashdotters and the like and I'm sorry folks but we're in the minority, just think Pokemon.
It doesn't matter, there is no way for a phisher to get a valid certificate for any bogus domains they setup however they end up doing it.
They won't be able to get a signed certificate so the check to see if it is signed by a trusted source will always fail and also possible that the check to see if the domain matches the current address could fail.
I think most people would actually buy an iPod first and then look to use iTunes, in that case similar problems arise with the other sites not supporting playback on the iPod.
I guess the exception could be Apple users but I can't see an Apple user having such a problem with having to use an iPod.
I did RTFA and by "implemented differently" I was referring it being done by users, which I am sure there are plenty of other sites that do so, actually can't users still request additions to Yahoo and then Yahoo approves them?
How is this any different to Meta tags in web pages anyway? Isn't that the point of meta tags?
I don't get it... You add bookmarks, categorize them with your own categories and then optionally share them with others, doesn't that just make this pretty much the same as Yahoo's system but just implemented differently?
How many people still use the Yahoo method to find stuff anyway? I find it much easier to just do a search usually Google for stuff I want and only bookmark specific things that I will need to refer to later.
I think their solution will be to end up using defined categories and hence become even more Yahoo like.
WTF if a Folksonomy anyway? It wasn't even listed in dictionary.com, oh a Google reveals it is just a made up word to collabratively categorize stuff, sounds like one of those big words people use to show they are smarter than you...
Security concerns? What security concerns would they be? Google Desktop Search only finds files that it has access to, if Windows is allowing access to things you don't think it should then it is Windows fault.
It is the right English but the parent poster was referring to people using a WebMail email address for commercial purposes, like would you really trust an online retailer that used Hotmail for their email?
Personal email I don't care about and for smaller companies like Bob's Plumbing but for anything on a larger scale then a free email service just doesn't cut it.
Release date isn't till Nov 9th

Having just done this myself when I bought a Powerbook overseas when I had my iPod with me and not the laptop that had my music collection I can add my two cents on how to do this fairly easily.
First you can't see the directory the music is stored in by using Finder as Apple disables it but if you open a terminal you can copy all the files across from the mount point.
Yes as you stated this contains a big mess of numerical directories with crappy filenames but all the files are still properly tagged (you do tag your mp3's right?) so iTunes still works perfectly okay if you add these to your library.
After doing that though I consolidated my library and it brought everything back into a sane state with an Artist / Album / song hierarchy automagically then I just deleted what I copied off the iPod.
Quite simple really and with no third party tools or hex editing of anything.
Me, as soon as my favourite IDE gets ported to Linux, I'll swap;-)
You are kidding right? VIM has been available on Linux for longer than I can remember, there is even a KDE GUI for it - kVim, so if you weren't kidding then you need to go ahead and swap.:o)

Uhm yeah whatever....

What exactly is your concern based upon anyway?
How is this Slashdot worthy?

But what is bigger the tiny png's or the Javascript + whatever else this requires?
Oh man... I'm not having a good track record today, I knew I should have stayed in bed. Serves me right for not looking that up first and making an assumption...
301 is a temporary redirect so the seach engines probably ignore it but a 302 is a permanent redirect so yes you should use 302's.

Dear Slashdot,
...
My employer has asked me to do a job that I don't know how to do and I need your help. Please do my job for me and research then recommend a solution.
Thankyou,
Jaseone
Maybe this is the missing step in all the various sets of steps to profit:
3: Ask slashdot
4: Profit

That's why...

Why is a normal user allowed to install programs in the first place?
But how is it executable without a "chmod +x freepr0n.exe"?

Lines of Code is the only measurement that matters with OSS isn't it?
