I need 2,000 calories just to sit on my arse all day. Forget the extra I need for light exercising. If I eat less than 2,000 calories per day, I will lose weight. On paper, in my head, typed into a spreadsheet and printed on gold fucking toilet paper - it all gives the same result.

I know you're joking but, being an ex-patternmaker and working for a foundry, I can tell you this:

You need to add runners and risers to the nest before pouring. The runners will feed the metal into the correct holes and the risers will store heat allowing the metal to flow without freezing too quickly. You also have to remember that the metal will freeze quicker on the outside of the tubes, leaving the middle potions free to flow. High yields aren't an option with too many runners though - it's a Fettler's nightmare too.

Yay! 4 years training, and 4 years practicing, just to explain this on Slashdot!

Next they'll say "This little chip could do so much more". All your money will be linked to it.

Next they'll refuse to let you borrow a library book without it. And you'll need to show it on the bus. When you buy alcohol. When you enter any public place.

Next, instead of showing it, you'll have to insert it into the card reader. Now your whole life is tracked. Are you happy about the local dustbin man being able to track you?

Next they'll say "this little chip could be made smaller and inserted under the skin". Still happy to say "so what"

"They wouldn't do that", she said.

"They do with dogs. Happy to be treated like a dog by our lords and masters?"

We'll all be forced to own one eventually. As soon as Tescos and the like require you to insert it when you buy anything.

I currently have it up for sale on eBay, minus the stickers. After tomorrow, the game will have passed though a minimum of five people's hands. Excellent.

Fuck 'em indeed. This is all about reduce, reuse and recycle, minus the reduce bit. Fuck 'em five times.

Out of interest, I would have kept the game forever but you just know EA will bring out 2010 in a month's time. It'll be on eBay a month later at a reasonable price.

Pirates generally only trade what's popular? Utter rubbish.

When I was a "Pirate", I had 280gb of MP3s plus a few FLACs. None were from any of the big boys. In fact, most record labels I collected had only ever produced 20 or so discs. I had ALL scene releases for my choosen genres dating back to 1990. All record labels were collected - well over a hundred. My collection was a source of admiration amongst my fellow sharers. If only I'd backed up that 80gb hard drive...

Why does everyone think we want or need mainstream cheesy pop and rock? The dance scene is massive in the UK and the rest of Europe. It draws more weekly admission money than all the "live band" concerts put together and yet it's not promoted at all. Sure, I can pull figures out my arse, but I prefer to trust my own eyes. The two large clubs in my town draw 1,500 each on a Friday and Saturday. Knowing about Pendulum or The Prodigy is only a the small tip of the cheese-berg. Not knowing about them, or any other 'group', sets you aside from all the other trainspotters.

Virgin can kiss mine as far as this goes. Who do they thnk they are kidding with "it'll only cost the same as a couple of albums a month"? I already give them 120 quid a month, where do they think another 20 is coming from? Do they really think 20 quid to entertain my kids and their cheesy pop habit is affordable?

Branson, you suck. Virgin, and their lack of decent HD, suck. You could have been so good after buying NTL but you failed and you continue to fail.
