If the Navy does manage to deploy UAV with more capabilities, they would have to re-think the role of carriers, you would think I new generation of destroyer type warships capable of launching UAV would be a feasible option to project airpower using UAV.
I don't even see the point about broadband access have anything to do with this, this is about the new web devices, the article stated itself that the industry body support parts of this law.
Your free market libertarian approach isn't going to shield every segment of the society. I am not advocating that the government have to do everything but the original poster threw a general blanket of "economy-destroying" law on the productivity class. That is absurd.
Thats right, legislations should have economy on top of the list, stuff like civil right and stuff like that should take a back sit because money is the most important factor in a legislation. The unfortunate can fend for themselves
Compare to the size and the age of universe, the likely length of an alien civlization, 40 years is not a long time to search for anything, let alone being in the right time peroid to detect a alien civlization.
I am assuming you're referring to Phil Jones statement and obviously, you did not bother to actually understand the context of what he was trying to say

The population ratio would probably be roughly equivalent in the last few decades yet US and a few other "rich" countries were able to maintain their scientific lead in the past. The point here is not that we expect the US to be the leader of everything but that there seems to be a large drop off in scientific/research investment in the last decade. We also see a drop in the quality of education (i.e. why are we still arguing about evolution in 20XX) standards and that will have a long term effect.
Oh I don't know, were you in a coma for the last couple of years ? I just find it really funny that the new stratergy now is to call into question the honesty and ethics of the researchers or basically personal attacks instead of challenging the freaking DATA. Denier still know what data is defined as right ?
This is just another sissy-fit thrown by the denier groups that are willing to use any tactics to distract people from the real issue. If there was any substance to these email, they would've produced the evidence by now. A few sentences blown out of context from a few cherry picked emails are merely red-herring.
What does the existance of toys have to do with anything ? Children behavior isn't dictated by toy brand name. If you were to argue whether a toy evokes certain evolutionary trait of a child, that may make more sense.
Hardware cost has gone down and the computational power has increased significantly. More complex software can be developed. Just because something uses more disk space and memory does not mean it is inefficient.
I'd like to know if this is a purely commercial move or if there is actually technical merit to it ? I doubt this move actually will drive up sale but I think there is a case that older codes can be security problem.
Comparing the price of a base PS3 to XBox360 is quite frankly ridiculous. The extra features of the base machine offered is completely different, if you get the Xbox 360 with the addtional attachment cost included, comparing the cost would than be more realistic. I do think that the PS3 price need to come to but not necessarily down to 360's.
The current bionic implants targets very very circumstances, i.e. the nerves and retina must still be attached etc. The implant stimulates the retina and creates images that the user can see. (They can replicate this using animal experiment by stimulating the retina and observing the brain activity in certain regions. Some groups in the US have already done some human trial with limited success) The current resolution is very low and the whole setup is impractical. My opinion is that stem cell research is the way to go.
Remember that one of the game publisher decided to cash in on the term "Shock and Awe" and realize that there was a public back lash at the attempt to cash in on the Iraq war. I think people need to realize one thing. This is not a freedom of speech issue, they're a private company and if they tick off the people that generates their profits, they'll probably do what it takes to protect that revenue source.
I have friends that have gotten very good jobs after their masters and others that haven't. If you're going to play probability than masters will offer you better chance for better paid jobs. But in the end, it'll be up to you on how you present yourself and the experience and knowledge that you have. If you think the master degree for whatever field will present you with more options, than definiately go for it. Else, get a job, get some proper experience. You can always get your degree at a later date when you know what you're doing.
What is with the paranoid underlying tone of the article ? "nefarious", could be "large government entity" ? When you have people that doesn't want the government to work (i.e last 8 year), we saw positions filled by political criteria rather than individual merits. It's time that the federal government have a organized response and start basing their decision based on scientific merits. All this sounds like is an information dissemination service ? Depending on the mandate of this new organization, what is wrong with organizing and have a focused approach on a large global issue ?
Not to downplay this event but I really wonder why we don't hear much about espionage from western countries ? Are they better at it (rather than using malware or commonly avaliable tools) ? I am sure the Chinese etc have equally vulnerable systems.
Accurate or not, the arrest of this blogger does more damage than bloggers will ever do. It undermines the judicial code and transparency, I really wonder how foreign investor will feel when a country's judicial and political system acts like this.

All this really says is that our numeric system can not model the world perfectly.

Only if you consider clown college and hamburger school to be real educational institutions

Yes they would be, considering it would be their parent paying for it.
Ummmmm... P1 can be 99.9999999%, that still doesn't exclude P2 from happening.

Yeah, like Sweden is a "Socialist" state right. You never know when they'll come and take our freedom away.
