I am looking for software that will let me map several (or more) locations throughout a city, attach a marker to each, and publish it to the web - as a guide.
Even better would be one that allows a mouse-over or a click on the markers to reveal the address, or take you to another page, etc.
How about boycotters come up with a knock-off of their form, but instead of promising to delete MP3s, we promise never to buy another CD from a major label? (no incriminating language on it about file-sharing)
Then we attach out ID (money-where-mouth-is) get it notorized and send them THAT?
I think that's what I'll be doing.
I wonder if they will sue me for copyright infringement if I take their pdf file and modify it for mine?
If he is paying for the license to listen to the music whenever he wants, then he still has thay license regardless of what happens to the physical carrier it was delivered on.
If he was only paying for the physical item, then he has stolen nothing because he has taken nothing physical.
Either way you slice it, your argument doesn't wash. (how's that for a mixed metaphor?)
The DMCA is being used to prosecute people who construct devices that CAN by used to circumvent copy protection. However, I think most of us agree that the real culprits are those that use it for such.
I hold no opinion on the virus issue, but regarding this, please speak for yourself. I personally regard the real culprit as the people who put the copy protection in in the first place, and then have laws passed to make its removal illegal.
I'm not exactly homeless, but have come close. I too have supposedly "refused to cooperate with treatment programs."
Treatment programs that kept me locked up in a prison-like mental ward. Treatment programs that had lazy doctors put me on many psych drugs all at once to make me "manageable." Manageable, as in too fucked up to complain that the drugs had me too fucked up. As in too fucked up to complain that I had been imprisoned against my will for the "crime" of being depressed.
These drugs fucked me up so much that they made me crave ANY kind of stimulation to let me know I was still alive - cutting my own flesh, doing any illegal drugs I could get my hands on, fucking anything that moved, running around naked in public.
The drugs changed me from a depressed but sane person into a fucking LUNATIC. And no amount of complaining helped, I was told I would have to be on the drugs for the rest of my life because I was "bipolar" - this, determined after a 5 minute interview.
I finally got into a position where I could get off the drugs on my own, and of course am now NOT running around like a fucking maniac, NOT cutting myself, NOT doing illegal drugs, and not only have no desire to do so, the very thought repulses me.
They MADE me fucking nuts and made me suicidal by pumping me full of shit just to keep me from interrupting their coffee breaks.
Some times the treatment is worse than the disease. I saw many, many chronic mental patients whose underlying problem was FAR worse than mine, and I saw the shitty treatment they received, how they got no respect, were treated as subhuman.
People "choose to refuse treatment" NOT because being homeless and hungry is FUN, it's just better than the hellhole that most free institutionalized care is.
Don't be tempted. Sony pushes stupid, often proprietary hardware and storage media, usually has a shorter warranty, and is prone to making shoddy product.
Heroin addiction has been VASTLY overstated. It's portrayed as akin to burning in hell in movies, etc.
I was hospitalized due to an accident for several weeks, and while not aware of it (head injury) was given several shots of Demerol a day for those weeks. Demerol is basically synthetic heroin.
Without even knowing I had been on it all that time, I was made to be physically addicted. Not from ONE use, but from unknown SCORES of them. So, I got to go through withdrawal without even knowing that it WAS withdrawal.
It was about a day and a half of feeling like I had the nastiest flu. Unpleasant, yes. But then I woke up, and apart from having messed up the bed (ala the infamous scene in "trainspotting") it was not a big deal.
Certainly not an ideal situation, but not something thats as impossible to go through as they make it seem.
I dunno, usually I love apple industrial design, but I think this thing is just plain UGLY.
A black box? How 1987.
Shape looks awkward too, like it wouldn't fit anywhere but on top of your desk.
I was thinking about how much I just don't give a shit about this topic... and how lame/. has been the last few days...
then I remembered the only anime I ever liked, before it was called that - Prince Planet. Love that show as a kid. I also know that it has never been released...
So, if I could get a pirated version of it, then hooray for pirates!
The niagara hydro station was about the only one that DIDNT go down, it was generating power through the whole event which is why most of Buffalo didn't lose power.

Anyone know of such a creature? Thanks.
how about the pre-recorded compact disc? (no I havent RTFA yet)
Are these record breakers just stunts, or do they have a practical application?
where's the news here? Um, no new info at all.
Its a puff piece basically saying only that "John Carmack is trying to build a spaceship"
We already knew that.
Exactly.
Proper archiving is much like maintaining backups - it's not a passive thing - it's an active, ongoing process.
I want to get a copy of this thing they want you to fill out, but no links so far.
(No, I'm not going to fill it out... I have other plans)

well, they would CHARGE one billion elephants for the cloud, but they would have only paid the cloud maker three peanuts.
great. now they are only overpriced by $5.00
wrong.

Great. I don't call my mom anywhere near as much as she'd like as it is.
Now I'll have to wait 15 minutes every time I DO call for her to "put on my face."
Wow!
According to RIAA accounting methods, I have almost 2.5 BILLION dollars worth of music on my hard drive!
$2,434,950,000.00 to be exact.
Good thing I haven't shared them, I don't think I could scrape up that kind of coin easily.
but they didn't do the right thing.

They probably see the radiation as a plus... less of a demand for stringent quality control.
With all that background radiation, who's gonna notice a few leaks?
oh. hmmm.
I looked at the article and clicked a link, saw a bulky black box. Musta clicked on the wrong thing.
It happens a lot - I've had one too many head injuries, unfortunately. I see things where they ain't and don't see things where they iz.
"Mr Atkinson said that on a good day he and his associates would send out 100 million messages."
"he had received more than 20 phone calls, five of them obscene"
oh for shame. 20 phone calls. some of them obscene! Good golly, why should the poor man have his time wasted in such a way?
huh. I express my impression of the machine, and I get modded as a troll. You mods are weak.
