This is GREAT NEWS!!!
Now I can be sure that the current movies I download to watch are nice, decent telesyncs done by industry insiders, and not crappy korean dubbed cam jobs shot crooked with someone's head in the way!:)
Not that I'm a fan of GMOs in any case, but at least with food plants an argument can be made that there is a REASON to take the risk - increasing the ability to feed people.
In this case, however, there is ZERO NEED for this modification. If there is ANY risk to the environment, that should always be balanced against the benefits. What are the benefits here? Some people with money to burn get a new toy, and some rich people who want more money get richer.
Why take the risk for essentially no reason whatsoever? For a damned TOY?
I can't stand it anymore. I just can't fucking stand it.
I'm glad I don't have any kids. I can't imagine what life is going to be like for people 100 years from now. Plugged in, billed monthly, stupid and enslaved.
speak for yourself. I'm an atheist, and I care more about history and what we can learn from it than the "dignity" of a chunk of rotting organic matter.
and who gives a fuck about the various religions. they have a hell of a lot of work to do in not offending people with different ideas than theirs before they'll start deserving reciprocal consideration in that respect.
about the only reasonable use I can think of this hack is for stuff like model rocketry, where you want a reusable but really cheap camera in case it gets destroyed in use.
as others said, it was called the bone phone. The bonophone, on the other hand, is a method of using a tree to cause a crashing sound inside your skull.
I just noticed this myself. I was tested for sleep apnea a couple weeks ago, and instead of being monitored in a sleep center, or wearing some elaborate set of electrodes, I got to sleep in my own bed using a device that attaches to two fingers and velcros to a fabric wrapped around your forearm.
This device uses a completely newly discovered form of biometic sensing, only known about for a couple years, and an israeli company put this thing out and got FDA approval in Feb. 2002. From medical discovery to actual product almost overnight.
It has a flash memory card that they remove at the doctor's office, plug into their PC, and it generates nifty reports.
I found myself wishing I could pull the card myself and take a look at the data. I'd like to see a hacker do something with one of these!
sure there's a reason to steal shopping carts... to use as your bottle recycling train when you're forced into entrepreneurship after being laid off from your supermarket cashier job.
I just had a rare opportunity to fuck with the head of the MPAA.
I was sitting in my bathtub and the phone rang. It was a movie survey... they asked about close to 20 different films now out or soon to be released, to gauge my interest, and my friends', etc.
For every movie they asked about my likelyhood of seeing in a theater, I told them "I've already seen it - I downloaded it off the internet." Even for (especially for) the ones that haven't even hit theaters yet.
It was kind of funny after all of this when the guy got to the internet question and asked if I had net access.:P
how does the very first post to the thread get moderated as redundant?

Should we allow plutonium powered Gameboys?
So, are the profs doing this to support the students, or what?
:(
I can't RTFA.
As an avid toy and game historical researcher, all I can say is... damn, I want this thing. :(
It's very simple. When technology renders a business model obsolete, the obvious answer is to make using that technology a crime!
Why the fuck are the moderators marking down posts like this as trolls?
What are you a bunch of fucking dittoheads? This is a legitimate comment!
the only two I ever got were billygoat and pencildick.
I had some personal contact with L. E.
ethical is about the last word I would use to describe him.
yes.

I thought Criswell was the friend of Ed Wood that made predictions?
"I, the Amazing Criswell, predict that by the year 2050, Earth will receive power beamed by robots from THE MOON!!!"

actually, I got to look at the reports it generated, and they were pretty easy to interpret. Especially if you had net access to do more research.

with RFID, people won't be ABLE to "forget" to scan an item.

are the RFID tags gonna cost taxpayers $6k each?
Are the people at the Author's Guild complete idiots, or what?
I just ordered 2 books last night that I never would have known about without this feature.
They are going to SELL MORE BOOKS because of this feature. What about this don't they understand?
and it was a great little machine, too. Loved it.
Military Madness. 'nuff said.
I also bought a Vectrex. Also a great little machine.
Still have both, too. Somewhere.
