    GD-what? they can afford nice things for themselves and their families. they don't give a damn about anyone else.

    the goal of any "businessman" whos salary is not directly tied to how much the company sells is to lie your ass off as long as possible, make as much money as possible and try to avoid going to prison. when lying on the beach sipping margaritas it doesn't matter what happened back in the world.

    people like to build things up and then knock them down. it makes them feel like they are in control, which, in reality, almost no one is.

    people also love to make predicitons, and we love to be right, no matter what it's about. which is why the the stock market and gambling in general are so popular.

    therefore, people REALLY like to make predictions about death/the end/destruction of people/careers/projects/companies.

    ...brag about how good their software helps Earth; they don't really want anyone to know how it actually is because someone else's might be better. It's a huge pride issue.

    this is absolutely true. when i show someone my source code and they find a problem with it or criticize some part of it, it's kind of embarassing. but you just have to realize that you don't know everything and that it's not about you being perfect, it's about better code.

    i would not give a family member any special treatment when it came to employment. i'd only hire them if they were as good as the best person that interviewed for the job... even then i'm not so sure.

    i wouldn't want to have to fire someone i'll be seeing at family reunions for the rest of my life. that is, assuming you get invited.

    dont you just love how everyone in the world only concerned with themselves. I mean this is a clear example of why Earth should be more united because our petty differences wont mean anything when a big ___ rock is hurling at us.

    don't worry, the U.S. military is working on the ability to take a huge asteroid and redirect it so it hits the Middle East.

    one thing is forgot to say though -- since microsoft got big, whenever they do have competition, they tend to pull out the stops and find ways other than technical superiority to best the other party. see netscape. see them funding sco to drag linux's name through the mud. the great thing about linux however is that the one thing microsoft is great at, making money, isn't of primary interest in the linux world. microsoft can't buy out linux. they can't give out cheaper copies to saturate the market and put linux out of business. but they will try dirty tricks... lawsuits, advanced marketing FUD and possibly ninja assassins.

    microsoft has something they haven't had in a long time: competition. sure, the unixes have always been around, but they're expensive, require custom hardware, and support can only come from one place. linux has none of these detractors.

    with both sides working to improve their product, hopefully the big winner will be computer users.
