If I'm not mistaken, Corel's Office suite is marketed under the WordPerfect name. I know it's strange, but I guess if yu have a know name, why not use it?
Recently a format that could give them a run for there money has come out. Instead of trying to find ways to keep as many users as possiblem they decide to start charging more, thus running off many more than they would have lost before. Maybe its some top secret strategy or something that we can't comprehend.
With Linux being ported to so many different platforms, where does this leave NetBSD. The thing that made it at least a little cool was that is could be used on more hardware that anything else, but is this really true with all the gadgets that Linux can run on?
I was just wondering, but I've got to get back to making Linux boot under my washing machine.
Over the years, Sharp never joined the Palm or Windows CE/Pocket PC bandwagons -- opting for a proprietary operating system
From reading this is sounds like Sharp usually goes with proprietory operating systems, as opposed to the free and open Windows CE/PocketPC and PalmOS? I'm pretty sure Windows CE/Pocket PC and PalmOS are proprietory.
I tried this myself just a few minutes ago. Since I don't have a robot or injet spraying thing, I just used a water hose and set it on mist. I dont think it worked to well. Sure my computers nice and cool, but it won't boot. How could this be caused by the cooling system?
I like quiken, but the only version I have is for the Mac, and I don't have an x86 PC. I guess I'll keep using Mac-on-Linux(or booting to OS X), or one day actually buy an Intel box.
I think it's much too early to push something like this in an area, where man resources are needed by the stuedents, and I don't think the technology is mature enough. Sure, it may be good enough for a paperless home or office, but schools still need books.
If they need a place to test these things why not send them the Afghanastan or Iraq? That way they have rough terrain, and they get to kill bad guys too.
With all the discussions on the FC mailoing list about the art work not fitting together, this should be a great standard for every body to follow, with buy an expenive 3D modeler or Photshop!
I'd advise against Freeciv(on the mac at least), it doesn't have a good feel on the Mac, and uses X11. I think there is or was an Aqua port, so it may be worth checking out. Also, Freeciv is mostly a multiplayer game, although there is limited single player play.

I wish I would have know you could have used a Dreamcast, CD, or iPAQ to get access to a network. They caught me when when I tried to sneak my main frame in.
If the people at OpenOffice.org hurry up and relase a stable Quartz version of OpenOffice.org for the Mac, they'll be in a perfect position to take the Mac office suite market if/when Microsoft bails out.
I'm sure the reason is due in part to how X Window is used for the graphics.
Actually Freecraft runs as a native Aqua application. Initially some of the early tries were aimed at Darwin/X11, but since the game uses SDL, it was easier to make it utilize aqua.
This also explains why Apple isn't dead yet. For checking my e-mail, browsing the web, and writing papers for english my G3 600 iMac works just fine.
Without an O'Reilly book and some gumption, I can't get Linux to install right all the time, even in a nice distro format like Yellow Dog!
:)
How sad
I wish they still made G4 cubes(and not because Jobs "blessed" it). Maybe one day Apple will make some thing similar again.
Get MacOSX and export any thing to a PDF.

It's too bad for New Orleans that they can't get Linux or FreeBSD for free somewhere.
Could we be looking at this much trouble at booting Linux in the future once Palladium comes into play, and basically all PCs are big Xboxes?
I can't find anything about The Apple II port. Surely this is wrong.

Seriously folks, do we need to give more money to the red devil
What's wrong with donating to FreeBSD?

I hope so, I don't think Apple would survive that close to the Wintel world.

So there's going to be a time that I plug Barney into my PC instead of a mouse?

Tux racer would probably be perfect for a long flight. Also check out Mac GLQuake and http://macglquake.sourceforge.net/
