Just because a person is not a good fit for any openings you have doesn't disqualify them from working elsewhere. To assume that only somebody with inadequate screening would hire somebody that you reject clearly demonstrates that your company should be letting somebody else interview potential hires. You've got the God complex in a bad way. It would be in their best interest if they never saw you again.
Because lawyers believe that everybody is down in the ethical cesspool with them so they don't understand how to accomplish what they want unless they're dealing with other lawyers. Sending letters to teens and young adults is not what they normally do and they don't know how to reach them. It would be really helpful if they enlisted a young person who understood more about his peers to help these idiots (Universal) resolve this more amicably.
"Activist judge" is just a label that Republican members of the legislative branch use when they disagree with a ruling from the judicial branch. The possibility that SCOTUS may eventually be asked to rule on this decision will not prevent Republican legislators from responding to this decision in any way they choose to. Much will depend on how much support the legislators think they will be able to count on from the American public for their positions on this decision.
This is sort of like the Iranian government trying the Danish paper in an Iranian court for the stupid drawings they published and expecting the ruling and sentence to matter anywhere but in Iran.
You win a prize for the first bad analogy. If the Iranians owned the Danish newspaper, your analogy would be valid.
I'll stipulate your point - it doesn't make sense to rewrite existing apps just to showcase the technologies you want your customers to use. But how about writing some of the newer apps using.Net? MS Antispyware and MS Defender were good candidates as these are recent add-ons developed by MS. I'd be more likely to use these tools if I thought that MS had enough trust in them to use.Net in it's own software.
What a load! A little research (Google and RTFA) reveals a slightly different version of events. Ms. Abdala was told at the last interview that the originally discussed salary would be reduced because he decided to hire two attornies instead of one. She told them that she would have have to think about it. It must be a slow news day.
OTOH she's got some confidence and some spunk. It could've been much worse and I think the person that leaked it has more to answer for.

Yes, but security and privacy experts agree that aggregate data poses no threat. Only an uninformed person would disagree with that fact, since it is well documented. Similarly, rational people wouldn't be upset by aggregate data collection either, since most all of human decision making is based on aggregate data collection in your own brain. If the data isn't tied to your personal information (which Apple doesn't necessarily have, remember, so the data *can't* be tied to your personal information by default), it's of no harm to you. Aggregate data is just plain not a privacy concern.
Your attitude regarding this topic is lamentably narrow minded. Your arguments would be more persuasive if you stopped assuming that your point of view is the only rational POV on this topic. It's insulting and shows that you have little regard for other people's POV.
Business entities wouldn't go to the expense of collecting this information if it didn't have value. This information belongs to me so where's my compensation? If this data collection issue was fully disclosed by Apple and if it was an opt in situation vs. an opt out, I'd have no problem with it.
Many people dislike being sold anything. I don't appreciate the business world trying to convince me to buy things I don't want and don't need. When I want something, I'll buy it. I do everything that I can to prevent something from being sold to me. Do you get the distinction? Would you prefer to buy a car or would you prefer to be sold a car?
Say what you want about corporations, but at the end of the day, they can't legally initiate the use of force against you.
They can initiate the use of (legal) force against you and the legal system is how they do it. If you don't believe me, ask a few of the people who,ve been sued by the RIAA or MPAA or whoever the hell is suing mothers and kids for downloading music. This can definitely be classified as a use of force and coersion.
Although Star Ship Troopers did reasonably well at the box office, it wasn't a blockbuster by any stretch of the imagination.
If you actually read Star Ship Troopers like you say you did, you would know that the book was deadly serious about war and the rights and responsibilities of citizens/soldiers. Star Ship Troopers is the farthest thing from an anti-war book you're likely to ever read or even claim to read.
Of course, what's even worse than lying about reading the book is to have actually read it and still not understand what Mr. Heinlein was saying with this novel. You might want to give the book another try without blinders on.
Who would pay for their provider to include PBS, the Discovery Channel, the History Channel, or CSPAN (besides me)?
I think that at least CSPAN should be publicly funded. CSPAN should be broadcast for free and is too important to take off the air just because most people wouldn't pay extra for it. And can we please not resort to the obligatory slippery slope rebuttal? The arts and artistic merit are subjective and are often victim to politicization. Nevertheless, a strong case can be made for public funding of educational programming.
It's not about establishing a hierarchy or a pecking order. It's because getting hit with a paintball actually hurts. That changes the whole texture of the game and maybe even makes it more real.
I guarantee that anyone (caveat - a normal person with an average pain response), will feel pain when hit with a paintball at medium to close range. A direct hit usually leaves a large nasty bruise unless you are padded. I have seen many broken fingers. You are also usually playing outside in a much larger area with more opportunity for concealment. I have seen some nuts bury themselves in leaves in areas where snakes are common just to get the drop on an opponent.
Accordingly, you will also (same caveats as before) make much more of an effort to avoid being shot when playing paintball than when playing laser tag. Let's say that paintball really incentivizes you more than laser tag does. I have played both and speak from experience.
I can't tell if this poster is just an uneducated idiot or is posting from an opressed foreign land or if he/she is just trolling.
If you perform illegal actions (bombings, vandalism, etc.) to address this problem, then by definition you are a terrorist. Why in the hell would you advocate that?
Living in a democracy is a wonderful thing. It's wonderful enough to warrant going to war over issues that threaten democracy. Use your energy and resources to support candidates whose beliefs are closest to yours.
The actions of the MPAA, Junior Acheivers Inc. and the public officials who are responsible for this program in our public classrooms or are capabile of stopping this but don't are immoral in my opinion. Whether or not what their actions are illegal is the more important issue to our society. If it's not illegal it should be. I am personally going to make sure that the ACLU is aware of this problem. If they agree to do something about it, I am going to make a donation to them. The only way to change this is through democracy and that is why the ACLU or any organization that opposes this needs your support.
According to a program on the television last night (Megascience - Flash Frozen Future), the worst case scenario is that we are at the brink of a global ice age. Scientists have looked at core samples from arctic ice and the bottom of the ocean to determine weather patterns for the last 100 million years. The show suggested that the type of accelerated warming that the earth is experiencing now is natural and cyclical (not caused by man) and is usually the prelude to the onset of an ice-age. The disruption in weather is caused by the melting of the polar caps which alters the salt content at the poles and inhibits the ocean currents that are responsible for much of our moderate climate.
As far as the effects - how about most of northern Europe and the Soviet Union becoming uninhabitable? How about glaciers extending past the Great Lakes in North America? An ice age would be very serious whether it was caused by man or not.
Is there any reason that I should be reluctant or concerned about installing the recently released C++ toolkit on my PC running Windows XP Pro? I've so far been able to avoid installing the.NET framework even though it's sad little face keeps showing up every time I visit the Windows Update site. Come to think of it, I've been going to that site a little too frequently lately but that's another story.
If anyone is interested in downloading the toolkit, I'm having a devil of a time downloading it now. I'm not sure if the MS servers are all swamped or if I just happen to be on a slow one but I have been downloading this small file on a cable connection for the past 2+ hours and it's not even close to finished. The transfer rate is a measly 3.17 KB/Sec. Be warned.
We see a story that basically describes the theft of an idea and the ruin of a man. The conclusion that the author wants us to draw from this story is that individuals are powerless to bring new ideas to market and it is better to join a corporation to accomplish this. What bunk! The moral I am getting from this story (as if I did not know this already) is that big corporations use whatever means are at their disposal, whether ethical or unethical, to make a buck and crush anyone who is in their way.

As far as I can tell, the editor knows exactly what a coincidence is...parent doesn't have a clue.
It's a quote from "The Princess Bride". Lighten up and get your sense of humor checked. I think it's faulty.

You are thinking of Santorini (a volcanic crater now) but it used to be an outpost of the ancient civilization of Crete.
