But a Supreme Court case is not the same as something that was passed by both houses of Congress and that is by far not this biggest story to come out of the US in the last year. I guess you could argue that the oil for food scam was a bit bigger story than banning muslim's from wearing headscarves even though it recieved much less coverage in the news.
I would sure like to see what the number of US citizens who live oversees and use their right to absentee voting is. In the military absentee voting is almost a forgone conclusion because military leaders make it a priority to extend servicemen and women every opportunity to cast a ballet and from personal experience not voting in a Presidential election will cause you more than just a little bit of grief from your bothers in arms.
He's attacking the person because he knows that the fines were legit based on policies that were already in place at the FCC prior to Powell getting his position. If he wants to argue about the policies then that would be a valid arguement but personally attacking Powell simply for enforcing them when that's what he's paid to do is out of line IMHO.
How about some non-US sources that have proof that the drug export business is larger than it was before the war and proof that women are still not allowed to work and girls are not allowed to go to school. I'd also like to see some satellite photos of ongoing terrorist training camps.
Yawn. They don't have the balls. Anyway... Europe is so busy banning little girls from wearing headscarves and desacrating Jewish headstones that they don't have time to deal with "real" issues.
Nice to know that "looking good to the rest of the world" isn't a priority for one of the candidates. I'm not sure, but I would guess that the majority of absentee voters are military and he already has about 75% of their vote (and chances are they get routed back through the DoD system here in the US so they wouldn't be affected by this anyway.)
I'm not sure where to even start responding. I'm pretty sure that during Kerry's tenure the Senate was controlled by Democrats more than half of the time.
So you're saying that if your party doesn't have a majority then you just stop working until they take control? I guess if Republicans maintain control of the house and Senate then you won't expect Kerry to do anything at all then either (which actually sounds like a great idea.)
I think most people refer to the number of times it rains when talking about how rainy a place is. The last big rain we had produced up to 5 inches of rain in one day which was more than we had in the previous 2+ months combined. I would say a place that had 20 times as many days with rainfall is more rainy even if it produced less precipitation.
The problem with these get out and vote campaigns are that they imply just showing up makes you a better citizen. I'd argue that uneducated/uninformed voters deciding who leads this country is as big a threat to the world as Osama Bin Laden.
As the percentage of the population that votes increases the less my informed vote actually counts. I'm so sick of hearing people say get out and vote, like the results will be automatically better just by having more voters casting ballets. 600 million uninformed monkeys can go to the polls but I'd argue that your much better off having only the population that cares enough to be informed about the issues making the decisions.
To me making an uninformed vote is infinately worse than not voting at all.
Some people actually listen to sporting events, local news, commentary, etc... Actually... that's all I use my radio for anymore, if I'm going to listen to music I'll play my own thank you.
all success is predicated on people behaving a certain way, a way which 10,000 years of human experience shows is antithetical to human nature.
Are you saying that our current political system is less predicated on people behaving a certain way? Last I checked ALL politicians are people and as such are subject to human nature. If your argument is that power currently is not concentrated enough then I suggest you take a look at our Supreme Court. Five people have the power to affectively take every right you have away from you by just "interpreting" the laws differently and if you don't like it then too bad, you'll just have to wait until they die. Your point about ad dollars is also just wrong. Viewers, readers, and listeners have much more power than advertisers ever will because companies advertise to reach the audience. No audience = No advertising money. Your statement implies that the audience has no power.
Let me explain. The correlation coefficient between the increase in minimum wage and the decreasing value of the dollar is almost -1 which shows a pretty strong correlation between the two, or put simply, over the past half century the value of the dollar has declined at almost the exact same rate as the rise in minimum wage.
In 1950 the minimum wage was 19 percent what it was in 1997 cite and in 1997 the value of a dollar was about 15.1 percent of what it was in 1950cite. I would say that if you laid a graph showing the rise in minimum wage over a graph showing the rate of inflation you would see correlation.

"Regardless of whether the Iraqis are happier, angrier, sadder, or just completely disinterested is irrelevant."
How enlightened of you.

from one country and to another
So you're supporting Bush along with the 75% of active military members?
Yawn. They don't have the balls. Anyway... Europe is so busy banning little girls from wearing headscarves and desacrating Jewish headstones that they don't have time to deal with "real" issues.
You think the world was wrong to remove the Taliban from power in Afghanistan?

I'd say it says more about developers who don't test their software using this method than it does about Microsoft.
Searches all of my local and mapped network drives just fine.

I love tabs too but nothing compares to dual screen goodness. How people function with a single monitor is just beyond me.
Errr, this is nonsensical. Per capita I'd wager that more Canadians live in urban areas than in the US.
You're probably right... the percentage of Canadians living in the US is probably smaller than the percentage of Canadians living in Urban areas.

The second source didn't show up. here it is.

The point is that Moore had no intention of suing anyone. His statement was merely a threat to silence those who disagree with them.
