"Taking your example above, needing to be Fluent in Sanskrit. If I apply to that job I could go the EEOC and say that the requirements are BS and I am qualified and should have been hired."
Hell I'd pay you the $5.10/HR out of my own pocket to see your dumb ass sitting there making $5.10/HR with two PhDs.

How dare you post this here to give all of the spammers an idea you insensitive clod! Haven't you ever heard of security through obscurity? You just as bad as that box-cutter college kid and those dangerous white hats!

Maybe it was crappy cooling. That possibility was never dismissed. Regardless, even if the fans had failed during normal usage, the CPU would not have been running at 100% and therefore most likely would not have melted the internals. The cost of running SETI@Home in this case... $1100.
I installed the SETI@Home client on my GFs laptop in order to up my work packet totals. I then started it and saw that everything was peachy and the CPU was chugging away at 100%. I then closed the case and went to bed. In the morning the keyboard was partially melted, the CDRW no longer worked, and the fans were dead. Maybe the fans were about to go anyway, and maybe the CPU load caused them to run constantly thus causing a failure.... we may never know.
I bet those people who get payed to redo the apple logos have the best job on earth. Select layer with the apple. Go down to the Function button in photoshop select pattern overlay, choose your patter and then bang your done. (Well I am over simplifying it a bit).
My guess is that you're over simplifying a ton. based on what I've read about the Jobs-factor toward things like logos, case shape, case material, pamphlets, manuals, ink, paint, injection mold styles, etc.... this new logo is probably the 10,000,000th iteration of metallic apple prototypes -- 99% of which probably look nearly identical, but somehow just didn't cut it.
Not to mention the whole Fair Lakes debacle. Fair Lakes is essentially a grid of roads all called Fair Lakes Rd. If you want to tell some one directions you basically have to say: "turn left on Fair lakes, then right onto Fair Lakes, then go past 2 Fair Lakes and make another right onto Fair Lakes." You'd be better off giving the index to your address. "Oh, I live at 666 Fair Lakes[0][4] Rd."
"however, my old roommate, a huge PJ fan,(his pet name for peter jackson), told me that PJ doesn't drag out releasing the special editions and that I wouldn't have to worry about this."
Your friend is referring to the "Meet the Feebles" / "Dead Alive" PJ, not the mega-million-movie-maker Mr. LOTR PJ.

I don't care what people say, Apple consistently revolutionizes the computer-packaging box industry. I will be proud to live inside of that beautiful piece of cardboard when the strains of financing the actual computer force me onto the street.
Of course the bitmap is of a penguin! More ammunition for the M$ FUD campaign.

My all time favorite was Pirates!

I once attended a meeting where the PHMs spent 40+ minutes arguing over whether to use the word 'exit' or 'quit' for the product GUI.
I think we wound up using 'close'.

"Special Edition new scenes = sucked.
Episode 1 = sucked.
Episode 2 = sucked.
Episode 3 = ?"
My guess is that ? == profit.

Hmmm, it's coming out in the second half of 2004? I say the kernel will be up 5 days after that. -m

In computer RPG's I almost always choose charaters who are physically weaker, but more intelligent.
Well isn't the character always limited by intelligence of the player?

They should really have reconsidered the design of their docking station then because it promoted closing the case when docked. -m

Dammit! That's what a pocket-protector is for!

This begs the question:
If you do a search for Google.com at Google.com, does that cause a tear in the space-time continuum? I'm afraid to try.

And if it was painted many flavorful colors, then Apple could claim it as their own. -m

Well, there's always F# which was not mentioned in this 'review'. This is the red-headed functional stepchild of the .NET family.
