    In short: If you give this to alcoholics, a large number of them will tolerate the side-effects and you've just dramatically increased their risk of cancer.

    Wouldn't it decrease the amount of alcoolism anyway? Not that I would suport it...

    If your representative would be responsible enough to actually produce a budget we would not have to talk about it. If the constituents actually care, they would vote vote for an actual people's party too... as it is, it is my opinion you are all doomed.

    You are totally right, I blew it with the A4 thing. Actually, I started design when color seperation was done with rubylith and ads were width in points and height in agate. Yes, I am kinda old and I done many things in the mean time, including video production, programming and redaction. My brain farted on that A4 thing, good for you all to point it out ;-)

    When in doubt, comment out and document. I also like to keep a commented (disabled by comments) generic version of a function if I have to work a heavily optimised version. For future generations, and keep sanity when code is revisited.

    That being said, the worse field for archaic measurement is graphic design, where fonts are measured in points, with 12 points per pica, 72.72 points in an inch (but exactly 72 for post-script). line height is measured in agate... you get the idea. Add to this paper measurement, letter being 8,5x11 inches in north america but 15cm x 30 cm in Europe.

    All systems of units are arbitrary.

    Some are arbitrary and logical, easy to work in your head... Some are a bunch of disparate measurement systems that makes almost no logical sense what so ever. If I have to choose, I take the logical one, thank you.

    I for one would not be upset at all if/when Facebook fails. Another thing to consider: is your data plan advantageous? I tried VOIP on android over wifi once, it was terrible... almost unusable. With ideas like this, I am amazed FB is still in business.

    Slashdot used to be about nerds, and about stuff that matters. Today, the market dictates is HAS to be a "News in general, stuff that gets eyeballs" cause they just been sold to another corporate entity. Rinse and repeat for any other corporation or takeover PR strategy.
