Ummm, you are lost. theres no hypocrisy in wanting to stop people from destroying files on your computer and wanting to stop the technology which will enable this to happen more easilly.
Palladium will not stop Virii/Trojans/Worms/Bugs or help with Security unless it stops all programs from functioning properly. A Virus/Worm/Trojan are programs which exploit a bug and Microsoft technologies and products are full of bugs at all times.
Youd have to be clueless or a troll to say what you just said. Locking up a Windows computer with Microsofts keys is what Palladium is about. =)
Most people prefer an answer immediately and a good memory helps. Knowing why the answer youre giving is correct is respected alot more than without background knowledge in this situation.
Researching information is great but it isnt the only desired skill an employer should seek unless the employee will be a research assistant.;)
in real life, would you rather someone look something up in a book or on the internet and be 100% correct, or try to remember back 5-10 years to something a professor once had on a test?
Id rather have someone who can do both and know when to do either. Information obtained online or from a book is not always correct!
Once an OS is user-friendly, it's not as much fun.
I am a geek and I disagree. I like how the Debian project makes GNU/Linux easier to maintain. I like how the WINE project makes alot of my old Windows games work in GNU/Linux easilly. I like the Free Software Foundation as they make it easy for me to understand how programs work.
Easy to use isnt bad. Making everything work only via a GUI is bad. You can interface a program many ways at once and maintain the useability of it for everyone.
Read the book, seen the series, joined the BBS, played the game, visited the site!
If Arthur Dent wakes up to a large yellow bulldozer at the start of the movie then I will probably fall asleep.
Been there, done that, got the postcard to prove it.
j/k - itll be an awesome movie!!!

I preferred VBS/JS to VB since the execution speed of a prototype program which is developed to test components isnt important and theres no time wasted with changing the way components interact when you use script.
you'll end up looking like a stupid, biggoted, uninformed collge-kid wannabe!
I dont need college. Also, programming is just a bad habit that I picked up when I was 10 years old. Its just nice to learn every technology that can help me stay up-to-date with my hobby.;)
Well it *can* be as fast depending on what you're doing! Not always, but it *can* be.
Did you think it was smart to add length to your post?

Good luck to them - I hope they charge for commercial use of their ideas and let it be freely implementable by non-commercial entities (ie. Debian) or something adaptable to the free software world *free software != copyright infringement*. DRM wouldnt sound so terrible if it was an open standard although charging for commercial use is a way in which you can make money from standardizing a system with patented technology.
I dont like privacy breeches and have been interested in this company since finding a directory with the name 'InterTrust' on a PC (Windows) I administer. A Google search and a few clicks later and I found that this company has good motives to promote implementing "Trusted Computing".
A patent fight sounds like fun in any case - go Microsoft *I wonder if MSFT actually knows its breaking a law and trying to overturn a valid patent - hehe*.;)
Everyone knows that email privacy is just another tool for so-called major operating system producers to bitch and fight over. No standard will ever be followed by all parties even when they make perfect sense. Its all a hack!
I use Debian - they have philosophies, standards, protocols and procedures as well as gpg/pgp (which took me about a hour to learn and start using with GPG CLI Program, MIT Keyserver and Sylpheed Mail Client).
Alot of books about programming and administrating are produced by New Riders. Their books are cheap also so I buy them instead of Oreilly books. Its good to see them get some Slashdotting. =)

However, there aren't alot of people who agree with the Stallmanism (I love that word, very fitting) viewpoint that all commercial software is evil.

You failed English too huh - whats your point?
Open learning is fun - I didnt know theyd have seminars available also when I first read about OCW - w00t!
Ive used VBCCE to test components written with Visual C++ without any need to read about Visual Basic so its a yes. *sigh*
Compiled BASIC - LMFAO!
You didnt.
Turtle Graphics is LAME - its for 8 year olds, learn Machine Code.

Until Linux comes to a level of user-friendliness much more advanced than it's at now, Linux is not going to enter the general consumer market.

Plenty of newbies run GNU already!

The GNU/HURD system sounds alot like QNX and is very interesting technology. You just dont understand. =)

Its more interesting to use a C/GTK type development system IMO. :\
Although, JAVA is pretty cool.
