It still seems like a lot of effort for very little return! I mean, come on, how many slashdot readers are likely to copy this idea ? It is almost as if the slashdot editors have pointed this loser out just so we can all laugh at him. Not a very nice thing to do.
But wouldn't it be easier for someone to buy a playstation rather than go to all this trouble to adapt a gamegear ? And surely these modifications will render your warranty null and void. Do nerds have such a high disposable income that they do not care about such things ? I doubt that CompUSA will take this thing back if you break it whilst attempting this dangerous modification.
Why oh why can't you idiot nerds be satisfied with what you have ? All this tweaking seems so pointless and stupid

But surely OpenBSD 3.1 should have won the prize for the most secure distro. According to the web page, each line of source code is actively audited by Theo De Ratdt, to ensure there is no remote exploits. Also, it is designed to be secure out of the box, no services are enabled in the default install which would give hackers a way in. Or am I way off base here ?
Call me ignorant if you like...

But what are Palm Inc going to do with the BeOS source code they bought from Be Inc ?
It needs to be made much more prominent. Indeed, every article should include a disclaimer at the beggining of the text. It should include the statement: "the following article is intended as satire". This way, there can be no doubt as to the intention of the article.
We already rate movies for sex and violence, why not rate internet content for truth and validity ?
But shouldn't the GOVERNMENT of South Africa decide who controls the.za domain rather than some unelected corporation in the USA ? Who appointed the USA supreme rulers of the Internet anyway ? It seems to me that ICANN is always getting into disputes over this sort of thing. If they cannot perform their functions in a less confrontational manner, perhaps its time we handed control back to where it used to be.
But I don't see why the article has a go at Microsoft. Its not as if Linux is any more secure after all. The only way to ensure complete security is to follow Theo De Raadt's approach of actively auditing the code, which has made OpenBSD 3.1 the most secure OS in the world.
Not that I have anything against Linux, but we can't afford to be smug about security issues.
But why would anyone want this ? I mean, if you want to watch TV, watch it. If you want to go in the hot-tub, do that, but I see no reason to combine the two activities.
It seems like this would detract from the enjoyment of a movie (you would get cold and wet) and of the jacuzzi (you could not concentrate on the experience because of the damn movie).
I know there are a lot of rich geeks out there, but surely they will not be taken in by this, will they ?
My point is, that such people exist. In large numbers. Some of them have nukes. So let's play it safe. We need satire warnings on all satirical web pages, just in case people get hold of the wrong end of the stick.
After all, humor is notoriously hard to translate, is it surprising that the Chinese took the onion seriously ?
But I think this demonstrates that satire sites should carry warnings. After all, remember that adequacy article "is your son a computer hacker?". 7000+ people were taken in by it.
Imagine if the Chinese read in a "satire" site that the US was going to nuke them, and they believed it!
I would rather be on the safe side here, even if people's free speech needs to be curtailed just a little bit.

When are we going to see a new release of BeOS ?
How do the open source programmers feed their families ? And don't suggest they sell T-Shirts.
At least you could come up with an entertaining user name. I am a big fan of 'Profane Motherfucker'
