With the advent (free vs. fee) of PSAs between every song on Live365 (same basic business model as traditional radio), I hold little hope of anyone coming up with an alternate plan that will ever move away from the thinking that's affected FM.
Live365 makes the free version so annoying, they drive you to either pay the monthly fee, or look elsewhere for entertainment. What is XM proposing that will do any better?
Unless they are shipped directly from a factory, which is unlikely, replacement units will be first shipped to a distribution hub...then out to victims...I mean owners.
And these things are heavy! Like 15 or 20 kilos. The freight costs are no joke.
Then there is the bill for the corrective marketing....then the income drop due to bad public image...then the personal injury lawsuits...
Remember, kids...when the marketing guy wants you to scalp R & D and just get the darn thing out the door...think about this incident and tell the genius to walk a pier.
black smoke...bad smell....some flames.... Shreiking secretaries running away from the source of all this combustion. You'll know them when you see them.
jokes aside...me thinks you should visit the manuf. website, and learn how to read S/N/s:) - I'm sure your new-found dedication to safety will be appreciated by all concerned.
The wireless is the satellite to the plane...inside there is one wired ethernet connection for every 1st class seat, and one for every two business/coach.
While it is true we are seeing convergence between the traditional TV and computer, and while this does portend an opportunity for open source in that regard, the net effect is a converged home, not just entertainment centers.
The new combo TV/computer will be part of the entire home system...one that includes the air conditioner (Now, in Korea, I can control my AC over the net), and the refrigerator...baby monitors...home security...etc.
...anyone drinking the water that is placed on the tables in the conference rooms should know that it will take 9 to 12 months for the effects of the spiking to wear off:)
By that time, contracts will have been signed and monies moved about according to MS's will.
While the SliMP3 is great, it's not wireless and costs more....but it is platform agnostic.
I want wireless and Mac, so the HomePod wins this one:)
Now, when can I buy one off the shelf from Fry's.
BTW, if you want to simply send audio and video, pls check this site I did a while back - iTunes, wireless and Home Theater...and yes, this segment is hothothot.
Most of the big Cheabols/corporations already have stealth factories setup and ready to go in the North.
There are many impediments to actually using any of the labor at this time. A prime example is the lack of infrastructure to move goods. Beyond manufacturing, there is also a ready source of low-cost programmers...we just can't get them on the payroll just yet.
The South Korean people are willing to open up, but with so much political sludge clogging the system, there's not much hope for any progress soon. It's a long and painful story:) Remember what happened when East and West Germany came together. For the two Korea's, the gap between the two earning structures is even wider. Someone will have to foot the bill to equalize the two living standarda, and again, the large corps have already said they will fund it. Politics is in the way, so everyone waits.
Korea is too expensive. Taiwan, maybe...China for sure. They don't even make microwaves in Korea any longer...that has all just been moved to China. Korea's labor and infrastructure costs are simply too high. My company is keeping R & D and marketing here, but everything else has gone or will go overseas.
I walked into the dimly lit room and looked around. It seemed something was trying to gain my attention, but in the darkness, everything seemed to blend into one shapeless form or another.
As my eyes adjusted to the low light, I began to make out a scribbling on the far wall...dot not....dot nut....dot nat....dot nit....dot net??? I couldn't make it out and it worried me. Dot what?
I walked over and traced the ragged letters with my finger tips, trying to imagine who did this...and why. The scrawl was halting and labored. The only thing I could be sure of was that, whomever wrote this message, they were clearly in pain.
I backed out of the room and tried in vain to clear my head...what where they trying to say? Who was behind this cry? Was it a warning to stay away or a dieing request for help?
I went on about my rounds...the day shift would be on soon, and I'd have to return to the future. I'd let them work on this one. I'd heard they had another new open source tool that was made just to analyze these. It was too early and too much for me to consider yet another message from the other side...from the past. The last one took part of my soul, and I need the few little fragments that are left...
"Edna allows you to access your MP3 collection from any networked computer. This software streams your MP3s via HTTP to any MP3 player that supports playing off a remote connection (e.g. Winamp, FreeAmp, Sonique, XMMS)."
A Python stand alone that will index music files and serve up dynamic pages...keeps stats too. Very nice:)
I meant the data gathering/telemetry business is a sideline. I'm sure Kenny is still racing...can't wait to see his smile next season, and John Force's dirty driving suit....:)
Kenny Bernstein was one of the leaders in pushing for pit lane analysis via computer...many, many years ago. I believe he's turned that into a side business since then.
It is really impressive what parameters are monitored and what kind of telemetry they employ. F-1 is the same way...tons of analysis done real time. The Japanese (Honda), again, years ago, would transmit telemetry from the car, on the race track, from one of the many tracks worldwide...all the way to their labs in Japan.
For those with a bit more esoteric interest, note that originally, physics types deemed it impossible to obtain trap speeds in the 300mph range...that was before the spinning tire effect was carefully considered.
Live365 costs per month if you don't want to hear their ads between every song....it sucks.

Found it...try looking in 'Prefs/Comments'....
"Karma Bonus (modifier assigned to posts where the user has good karma"
I'm back to down 1, from 2, but I don't see any setting to bump it back up in my prefs/messages....hummm

802.11g? maybe later....
= 5000 credit card numbers...this kind of math too hard for you people?

Think open source home...
We're close, but not in the next two years.

Consider the watts used to communicate with some of the first orbiting capsules and moon modules...try 15 watts.
It's the singer, not the song...or in this case, the antenna efficiency.
At this time, I either let iTunes roll thru a playlist, or random.... I can admin via my Airport equipped iBook but that's hardly fair :)
:)
I've tried the wireless keyboard thing, and so far nothings worked out...now, a BlueTooth or 802.11g setup might be ok

I figure if street musicians can play in subways, I can drop bytes here:
Published?
- 50+ countries
- 15+ languages
- 10+ million printings per year for the last 4 years running.
I'm a technical writerOne of these days I'll find a publisher and get out of this rat race. If you know anyone, please tell me, thanks.
I'll be looking into reverse exports for those with a nostagia itch. At 1/3, everyone can make a profit, I'm sure :)
