This is probably due to usage of the heater in the car rather than anything else.

no, probably not; the a/c saps gas mileage because it uses a belt driven compressor (read: it saps power from the engine, so you need to burn more fuel to hit a certain performance level), but the heater just pipes the engine coolant into a heat exchanger and uses a electrically driven fan to pipe hot air into your car (read: no effect on mileage).

even w/in a company, you should start networking. those folks can point you to people outside your company, they eventually leave to other companies, etc, etc. one of the best pieces of advice i got from a coworker when i first started working was to introduce yourself to someone at work everytime you've seen them more than once., i.e. you see 'em once on an elevator, just be friendly and say hi; next time you see 'em, introduce yourself. by doing this, you build up a little network VERY quickly, which can help you get ahead inside the company, and also help you find a new job when it's time to move on.

people who have a reallly hard time getting a good job typically fall into one of several categories:

    • they don't have the technical skills
    • they don't have the people skills
    • they just don't click with the folks doing the hiring
with the attitude displayed in your post, i would assume you fall into at least one of the last 2 points. believe it or not, people doing the hiring actually WANT to hire good people- their butt's on the line as well if they screw up. sure, many jobs are written w/ a specific person in mind, but many others are honest to goodness jobs open to the public. of course, with those you have a better shot as well if you have someone that can vouch for you, which again, suggests you're lacking in one of the latter two categories above if a) you don't know anyone working in the industry, or b) you can't get any of the folks you know to pass along a recommendation.

in short, you need to lose the attitude, and work on your own skills.

To perhaps put a more direct example in the light, the US has (by civilian knowledge) 21 plane B2 bomber bomber (mostly built in the last 3 years or so).

uhh, not even close. bomber #21 was delivered in 1997.

In fact the US General Accounting Office found the B2s actually have trouble doing even those missions; since they where originally designed to fly a single M.A.D. mission, they are not very sturdy. In fact every mission they fly causes extensive and expensive damage because of moisture in the air damaging the stealth covering.

the issue w/ the stealth coating has nothing to do w/ how many missions it was designed to fly- it's simply the nature of the technology at the time.

The cost for the handful of B2s was $45 billion (even if you exclude research costs and assume mass production, each plane costs over $1 billion to produce, let alone actually maintain). What worse is that the B2 is a somewhat cost efficent project as compared to others in the military industrial complex.

the reason the per plane cost for the B2 was so high was that gov't approval kept shrinking regarding orders; the fewer the planes built, the higher the per unit cost (since you were wrong about the $45b figure- that cost *does* include development, as well as procurement and military construction costs). it's a fact of life that the gov't is fickle, constantly changing requirements, making it likely you'll run over cost. this is applicable to space programs, and social programs as well. it's funny how you keep saying "in fact" when you don't appear to know about the facts... =)

The really good systems cut the house advantage to .5% or slightly better, but the odds are still with the house in the long run. The counter is depending on a run to make his or her money, along with the right betting scheme (counters tend to be progressive bettors).

that just means you're playing at the wrong tables! just using basic strategy, at a table with advantageous rules regarding doubling down, soft 17s, etc, and the right number of decks, even without card counting, the house has less than a .2% advantage.

stealth most certainly does not suck. the whole point of stealth isn't so they can't see you- it's so they can't see in time *AND* so they can't track you. it doesn't matter if they're taking polaroids of you if they can't obtain a lock and prevent you from knocking out the targets. regarding high/low band radars, you can design aircraft to be stealthy to both.
