Agreed. I was about to throw away WRT-160n in the garbage because it was so unstable. Then someone suggested DD-WRT and boy what a difference! Now its rock solid. Linksys routers are good hardware bit crappy firmware.
I have had none of the problems you mention. Hard-disk is cheap. Never missed recording a show since 2004 when I first setup an XP MCE box. Never seen a commercial since I installed DVRMSToolbox which was also 2004
I can watch Netflix movies stutter free on my netbook, but Flash videos on Hulu peg the processor and are almost unwatchable because of it.
Not for me. On my windows7 machine, Hulu plays flawlessly in fullscreen mode including 720p stuff. But its Netflix which routinely craps out. Flash 10.1 on a relatively new Nvidia/ATI card has full hardware acceleration enabled and it works like a charm
Have you actually read the article you are citing?
Nope, because this is SLASHDOT (in 300 style!)

I second this. Readability rocks!
Awesome!

OK, just keep paying $0.99 per show on iTunes, while I record it in pristine HD for *free* using windows 7 MCE.

It took them almost 10 years before they released open-source drivers. Must be freaking smart
Who cares? Between AMD and Intel, they are toast. Even AnandTech agrees http://www.anandtech.com/show/3871/the-sandy-bridge-preview-three-wins-in-a-row/7
Oh yeah! Facebook is like totally dead. Especially since installing crappy, bloated iTunes is so easy and way better that using facebook on a browser!
You, sir are a genius!

On windows XP I used to notice screen tearing (caused by v-sync mismatch), but after upgrading to windows-7 the problem vanished

720p HD video recording is great. I wonder how this will affect Flip-HD pocket camcorders category.
