    There is also a version of acrobat reader for linux. Though, it's pretty awful compared to the free ones.

    platform dependency on a web page sounds so awkward or bizare to me, really, who would want such a thing?
    I think that when a site strays from the w3c's standards, it can no longer be referred to as a "web site".

    Also, back in the late 1700s, someone couldn't patent a scab off of a cows back.

    Ron Paul has a fanatical support base, at least they contribute money. And they are vocal all over the internet. However, this hasn't translated to him even breaking into the double digits, much less winning ANY of the primaries.

    Microsoft said that "eliminating redundant infrastructure and duplicative operating costs will improve the financial performance of the combined entity."

    It makes sense. Microsoft could save a lot of money by replacing their windows servers with Yahoo's BSD infrastructure. It'll improve stability and security, and they won't have to pay all of those expensive windows licensing fees anymore.

    Well, in ubuntu's defense, it's at least fairly easy to remove the excess software (through apt). But yeah, if you're looking for a bare OS to only run the apps you install, then debian would be a much better choice.

    With today's technology and the existing infrastructure, it should take about 15 minutes to get this thing up and running.

    I imagine that the hold up isn't on the technology side. I imagine that most of the difficulty is on the legal end.

    Thank god apple has a thriving community that is constantly working to fix apple's design decisions. Someone should try building an OS that's entirely community supported. Imagine how productive they would be without apple working against them.
