I bet you doubt wrong. Those legs are hydraulic with plenty of power. A little rope is not going to tip this thing over. Besides the operator can see and is not blind.
I think this is a great idea. It can probably go just about anywhere. The enviromental impact is much less than a track vehicle would be. The only negative might be the cost and maintenance. Those hydraulics might have to be maintained more than a track vehicle.
30 days sounds good to me, but it does need to be a fixed period. In practice, though, I just don't trust the govmnt to be honest here. As pointed out before, this may violate the DMCA. Maybe the govmnt is trying to get people to violate the law so they can then crack down.
Yes, this an old trick. Back in the day, ther was this big party where everyone was drinking. The hosts made the mistake of not having food at this party so therefore they were serving alchohol with out a liscense. So, the cops raided this place and told everyone to get in their car and leave. We'll the ones that did got arrested for DUI. So this sounds just like a trick to find out who the hackers are and crack down.
--Heck, even connect to the internet and post a message here on Slashdot, is another day that I should thank the FCC and the people that made the FCC possible.--
I didn't realize that the FCC regulated the internet. What am I thanking them for exactly again?
Looks like the DMCA is being used to shake people down with threats of jail time just for exercising free speech. Very sad indeed. This is a stupid law that will be tough to correct. Now congress is being paid off to pass more stupid laws that are turning this country into a facist state. It seems to me that McCain had it right with trying to get soft money banned.
These statements are probably obvious and redundant but I figured I would add another statement to the list. This is a question of freedom and educating the American public. The needs of the people outway the needs of the rich few.

I can't wait to see the Attourney-General's mailbox when every slashdot-reader in the country writes to give 10-days notice of their intention to disrupt vast areas of the internet in their search for people using perl-scripts without permission.

I think it will be filtered to mailbox 13 unless you are Sony Music, Warner Bros., etc.
It seems like that C64 can take more hits that I thought. It ain't down yet.

What if this thing gets passed and all of the RIAA stuff gets put up on foreign sites? Are they going to DoS those too? The EU might really get pissed at that.

Most of this article is complete BS. Why do I keep thinking that when we get more government regulation, the cost will increase and the usefullness will decrease?
If someone wants more security, why don't they use VPN or something?
--Need I remind anyone here that individuals are copyright-holders too?--
I don't think this law will apply to individuals. It will probably only apply to a corporation that has a lot of green to tie up the legal system. You better be able to have a team of lawyers on retainer or don't even contemplate hacking someone. Remember most congressmen are lawyers and are at the top of the food chain.
I think the main isssue here is not the GUI but if your hardware has drivers for Linux and if all of the software that you want to run will run on Linux.
For instance, Photoshop is not available on Linux. Some CAD and 3D software is also not available. Some of the popular games are not available. When you see those things for Linux, you will have popularity on the desktop.
Notice, I didn't mention M$ Office. There are alternatives for that on Linux. When you see Adobe, Autodesk, and others develop for Linux, business will switch due to cost. Then the consumer will switch too.
That was funny! I saw that comment on ARS Technica. I say the best way to fight them is just not to buy their crap. I used to file share, find a good song and the buy the CD. I guess that is stealing like crazy at 56K. CD's cost almost as much or more than DVD's. That is why there is piracy. CD's are just too overpriced. I can't believe how much pull they have in congress. 1984 anyone?

This is great. I'm glad slashdot posted this one.
This makes me wonder what you could with an XboX in a couple of years when it costs $50?

I wonder if you could stick on of these things in the video feed room in a Vegas casino? No one would notice it, right?

P.S.
doesn't \. have a spell check?
Maybe a deadline would solve that problem. Give the said company 10 days to fix problem after which the hole becomes public.
Actually that should be 0.1!
I wonder how easy it would be for lightning to fry these chips?
Right!

Sound dosen't deter mosquito's. So some of this seems bogus to me. DEET works though.
Here is a link that says basicly the same thing.

For the 1000 time today, the RIAA sucks for this.
My karma will probably stink for this.
Right! on all points.

Yes, it can if M$ or someone else manages to get a law passed banning it.
