I'm sorry, but do you actually think Sundance plays movies like Thor and Black Panther? Do you even know what a film festival is?

  2. That's why I ended up in CA. Our tech booms don't fade away in a few years. Tech booms naturally when jobs boom. Only CA and DC seem to have tech job markets that are always healthy, regardless of the wider job market.

Perhaps. Or perhaps - like me - one may only accept jobs without onerous requirements on hours worked. You want me to be in at 9am for a quarterly review meeting? Sure. You need me in by 9am every morning. Nope.

  4. Europe created a giant debt driven boom and bust economy, invited poor Greeks into it, and then blame the Greeks for using the boom and bust debt to drive the economy, and blame Greek government for its inability to run their own economy even though the power to control the Greek economy resides in German hands.

  5. The balance of accounts is always (designed to be) zero though, so there's no buyout needed.

  6. I you think the UK and Europe are going to get into another World War over trade disagreements, you haven't been paying attention to history for the last 50 or so years.

  7. That's absurd. The US has never been an uninvited aggressor in Europe. Ask Ukrainians which nation is an aggressor.

Because "energy storage" is a massive fucking unexplained handwave. We absolutely have nowhere near the energy storage capacity to make these "solutions" work. And recognition of the negative economic impact of increasing fossil fuel costs is another giant handwave, where the liberals suddenly embrace the Invisible Hand of the market to make everything wonderful.

Sundance is most def more prestigious than Cannes to anyone who doesn't have a hard-on for European cinema. The US is the center of the cinematic world; has been for generations. Sorry, Francos.

  14. The organization claims to be a film festival, not a cinema festival. Netflix has brought to light the lie that Cannes is about art; Cannes is actually an incestuous profit machine with no regard for art.

If a major film festival decides to ban the largest producer and distributor of film, it's pretty clear that film festival is entering its death spiral.
