This comment pre-supposes that anyone other than the person who setup the database (if them) actually has a clue about access.
I work setting up access Db's and analysing data with it, and I have yet to meet anyone in an office who has the slightest idea about access, other than the form they see.
Also one of the reasons why access has such a bad name (I'll admit it is one of the very few MS apps I like), is dipsticks think running a few wizards means that they can create a database grrrh!!
(currently I'm redoing a fairly complex DB properly - 3rd normalisation? - you've gotta be kidding, it didn't even get to first normalisation)
So my point is that this a red-herring all you need is one person/consultant to setup a DB backend and a web frontend with your language of choice (php/cgi)
>do webpages look prettier in mozilla (on any >system)? nope.
Matter of opinion (also have you seen what IE does to pngs)
>is there a better spreadsheet program than excel? >no way.
your joking right - I hate excel with a passion. Excel likes to mangle your data because it thinks it knows better than you - a "feature" not a bug
>in general, is windows easier to use for a huge >gigantic percentage of the population? yes.
Your opinion - I find having to use a windows machine painful
>do companies want to pay someone to fix problems >that might arise in a *nix system (again other >than osx)? never.
irrelevant - companies dont want to pay someone to fix problems that WILL occur in windows, but have to.

Apps?
I can think of one and only one app that I miss Access/Paradox.
I use
evolution (what outlook should be) openwriter gnumeric G2 (of course) galeon2 Cups (printing) Pan Gaim Gimp (gtk2)
Kylix - news to me this is a KDE app (QT yes, proprietry yes - KDE no) From what I have heard Kword is crashorama People compare the mail compnent with Kmail - it just does a lot more
1. It may amaze you but more than one person probably does like what RH is doing
2. think of this now. gnome has it's HIG where they re-ordered the buttons e.g. [OK] - [CANCEL] in a dialog became [CANCEL] - [OK]. gnome did it the MAC way, where kde did it the 'correct' windows way.
Personally when you are talking about UI, I think more peoplew would call MAC correct
but i like how they made kde look.
kwin in my opinion works so much better than metacity.
In metacity(gnome2 default wm) you cant move or resize an app if its maximized. It gets really annoying if you "shade" an app and you cant move the shaded window around. REALLY annoying. (this isnt a bug its a feature)
just curious as to what you mean, no problems withmoving between workspaces, and moving within the same workspace is nonsensical when maximised surely - if I max a windows I want it to take up all the available space
I know this has been done to death, but there is no comparison between the hell that is windows registry and gconf.
In gconf-editor, everything is nicely laid out by app and is self documenting (especially this example)

do makew mrproper before yo configure
What??? - know I shouldnt reply to trolls, but what planet are you on
less bloated than metacity, come on get real
What is it with KDE trolls - can you just not help it
Although normally my reflex is to disagree with Nicholas Petreley, what he has to say is valid.
What he is exoressing is a move from windows to Linux among developers, which may or may not be "Desktop developers"
Can you say YMMV
OK then - why doesn't Demon care about this stuff?
Maybe because they care about their customers
Nope - get phoebe2
Who the fuck cares - this makes the front page???
I dont understand tis whole idea - whats the connection.
Robbie
3 Powell and donavan
4 Susan Calvin
All different
A series I could understand
Please dont relate the post-asimov books to those of the maestro himself, IMNHO they are just not consitent
As Martins resolved spat with the rest of the Gnome team keeps getting quoted, without the subsequent reconciliation, lets put it straight.
Martin is still involved in gnome, and is a member of the gnome foundation (and stood for the board)
Unfortunately this is not the case, the poster sends this everywhere, with the same , out of context links

looking at mergeant for dbs
Wont be mozilla view - definitely galeon (at the mo)
G2 view works swell
I think this is more a case of RH's traditional conservatism

Kile? Scribus?
No - the women probably just liked storys with a plot!!
Just to clarify - the reason for the name change was very simple.
It was to avaoid name collisions with a unified desktop
From what I seen of the G2 SUSE RPMS on the support forums/lists I am on I would not hold out much hope there.
From what I have heard the Mandrake treatment sounds good
Listening to KDE users whenever anyone says anything nice about RH/Gnome
Wow - It's troll time again
1. It may amaze you but more than one person probably does like what RH is doing

3. IMNHO - I fail to see the perfection of KDE

Nice to see a really informed troll
As I am obviously an ignoramus who hasn't seen the light as yet, exactly in which ways is KDE3.0.3 better than gnome2.0.2?
About as vaild as KDE being>50% based on the OSnews poll, which I have seen repeated ad nauseum
