It depends were you live. Where I live, the warranty is defined to be at least as long as you could expect it to live related to the object value. If you can expect a cheap android device to last 2-3 years, then you can safely assume your higher priced iphone to last much longer and automatically have both Apple & the seller responsible for covering the warranty.

  5. I'm mining altcoins, some autoselling to BTC. A 1070@60% power yields 32MH/s ETH, selling those at 0.11 BTC per was great too :) The 1080TI has mostly been doing LBRY and equihash, some decred and lyra2.. Best days I have recorded were yielding 25 USD on the 1080TI, not too long and the card was paid off.

I haven`t tried any asic as reselling them is not good at all, while video cards prices were only going up, now down so it was an easy way out should I have wanted to.

  6. Well, I am using (hydroelectrical) power and getting a very good ROI doing so, paying back my hardware in a few months. I would not advise to purchase more hardware at this time (but I might be wrong), but I hope that you guys used it while it was definitely worth it. I was generating LBRY and selling to BTC, with the climb it has had this has all been very efficient :)

I am by no way wasting energy, as at this time we still have record water level and can`t store anymore (thus not using it is definitely a loss of possible revenue for the electricity company which in the end gives back to the governement)

  7. Humm, the price I paid for my ti is inline with the announced price for the V64 wc edition. I had managed a pre-order at 100$ less for the strix OC editition so I really can`t complain for the price paid. Beside, if I decided to sell the BTC it generated on nicehash since my purchase, it would be more than paid back.

  8. When your gaming card is not used for playing, they are mining (at least I hope so). I have an upper bound of wattage per room I can tolerate (while working / gaming) using free cooling, so that's indeed important (also, don`t underestimate the noise). I could blast the AC, but at some point it`s not worth it anymore. Their new offering doesn't appear to appeal on any front.

  9. they don`t need to be -- I went with the 1080TI 4 months ago and it's much faster than even their new V64 watercooled edition..

I once was t-boned in an intersection, during a snowstorm, while the other driver of that white car had shut off his lights to better see through the snow. He never saw the stop sign since his lights were off, and I had no way to see that someone was incoming. My car was totalled and thrown off the road.

I hit my head pretty hard on the window. Allegedly, I kind of removed the door to get out after the accident. While I do remember some things, not much, it appear that the cop asked me what I would do once he would let go of me. I replied that I would take my car and drive to meet my girlfriend. Supporting ECC doesn't make it a server cpu. Similarly, using ECC memory doens't make a computer a server -- see the late mac pro -- so much trouble running a farm of those! I would not be running ryzen chips in my 2U enclosures -- performance / volume would not be good at all. Anyway I am no longer working with local servers.. While I am eagerly awaiting the 128 cores epycs to see how they fares, I will simply start using them should the price / performance ratio becomes better than corresponding intel server on the cloud.

Also, with the compilations issues I've seen reported on ryzen cpu, I do hope they aren't really simply cut down epycs, or are they ??

Oh yes, you can find old servers / much less powerful ones on the web, but that`s not the kind of server that gets purchased repeatedly. We could always have replacement on hand in our small market (Quebec) for intel servers, or upgrades to the newer ones, even rare raid unlock chips, but there was nothing on hand for AMDs. With a 99-1 split in the server market, that is expected I guess..

Scroll down a little and you will see than this warranty stops at 30 years for power generation and 30 years for the 'Weatherization warranty' which is defined as: Weatherization means that there will be no water leaks or other weather intrusions during the warranty period that result from our installation. This limitation is what is small compared to high quality roof which are quoted at up to 75 years here, and still much less.
