No its not, clock cycles are discrete, miles is continuous. It's akin to having four people each take 60 strides per minute, they *do* reach 240 strides per minute between them.

What? Are you with AtomChip? Both miles and clock cycles can be interpreted discretely or continuously. Neither is inherently either. Note that I can run 1.5 miles just as easily as I can measure 1.5 clock cycles. Synchronous logic, however, tends to function on one of the edges of a clock cycle (often rising edge) which is perhaps the source of your confusion. But it need not be, and isn't, limited to that: note the existance of DDR logic (triggered on both rising and falling edges, one of which must be considered happening at a "half" clock cycle, which isn't discrete) and even QDR logic, which operates four times per clock cycle. Analog circuits (such as PLLs) often sense and respond to many, many more than 2 or 4 points per cycle.

Just because you're more familiar with fractions of miles than fractions of clock cycles doesn't mean both don't exist. I'm not even going to bother with your confusion of adding up strides and adding up clock cycles. You're not ready.

Mambo/joomla maybe a little easier to set-up and use for newbies, but maybe a tad less flexible. I'm a fan of metadot myself because it's perl instead of PHP and I like the gizmo architecture -- but I'm a masochist that way. :) See the cms comparison tool someone posted in this thread for detailed comparisons of all of them.

Better still, use fatwallet or similar sites to buy new printers for less than the cost of a new ink cartridge and give/ebay the old one. I got a new epson r200 printer (not just the ink) for $6 after rebate ($49 out of pocket.) If you missed that deal, there's already a new deal with a net price of $15 for the whole new printer. Yeah, you have to plan ahead a bit, but note that the ink costs $55 per color and $11 per black. The new printer came with one each.

As more and more people wise up to the "loss leader" system of selling cheap printers with expensive ink, they'll lose more and more cash until they have to quit the nonsense.

But I must emphasize your 1000x underestimation of US aid to Africa. Please note that we spend Billions in Africa (with a 'B') just to fight AIDS and that's not enough!: There remains today a huge gap between the estimated annual needs of $3-4 billion for HIV/AIDS and current annual expenditures.

Bush has refused to endorse Blair's plan to double aid to Africa from rich nations to $25 billion annually now and $50 billion each year starting in 2015.

The White House has not decided how much more direct assistance to Africa it will offer at the G8 summit. The United States provides $3.2 billion in aid and much more through Bush's AIDS program, which calls for $3 billion a year to be spent combating the deadly disease, of which about 80 percent is expected to go to Africa. About half of the $5 billion Bush has promised from the Millennium Fund, which provides financial assistance to governments that commit to democratic and economic reforms, will go to Africa.

How can we live with ourselves when these poor folk suffer without these basic necessities of life? What's worse is that the overwhelming majority of those forced to do these things are African Americans! Surely reparations are in order, and we must all join together to stop this opression by "the man" as manifest in the national weather service and coast guard rescuers that would prevent these fine citizens from attaining the luxury products they so richly deserve?

Clearly rape, murder, and using the guns looted from Walmartm to take pot-shots at the coast guard helicopters and rescuers are a natural reaction to extreme circumstances and hardship. Who among us can claim that, given a week's notice to evacuate a town that sits below sea level with only weak levees to protect us, would not ignore the lies spouted by "the man" and then rush out to steal guns, consumer electronics, and liquor and then, as needed, rape women and children to relieve our pain?!
