I am not claiming to have any superiour insight on the topic, but there is no proof to claim that it is all mechanical, chemical, or predictable. One of the only knowns about the mind is that it is unknown
What proof is there that human consciousness is purely mechanical processes, It seems that the largest barrier in AI isn't understanding how to code intelligence or computing power, but understanding the mind. It is the final frontier.
This is a multipart question. If robots are mass produced to carry out simple but time-consuming tasks in the future and are cheap enough to eliminate the need for a large percentage of the human workforce, do you think that there will be widespread anti-robot sentiment? When human's jobs are replaced by a cheaper alternative, they feel a great injustice. Do you think that robotic 'slaves' is really what an ever expanding population needs? Or will the creation of robots take a different direction to carry out tasks that humans cannot?
I test wireless products, as the above posts say, 64-bit WEP is trivial, and your network is not secure using it. LEAP is cisco's way of implementing EAP, which deals with Pre-Shared Keys (PSK). If you want real protection, use a PSK with a strong string... i.e. not in a dictionary.

I just finished a system programming class at UNH where we used John von Neumann's IAS (Institute of advanced studies) computer. My professor had to make a virtual machine that ran our code. I remember him mentioning that he only found some historic manual with the commands, registers, and how memory was used. He could not find any source code for the machine. Does any one know where to find some original IAS machine code?
The only relation between these two things is Money. Broadband isn't technology anymore, it is money. It is shitty that broadband isn't taking off because of money. Widespread broadband technology would speed up the exchange of ideas, and utilize a superior infrastructure. Copper wasn't made to have such high loads transmitted across it. Making broadband easier to own would do wonders for our country, but if the telecommunication giants can still milk money out of older and dated technologies, we will be stuck with what they give us. It disturbs me to think that it is legal for them to make money on the indirect prevention of a higher standard of living.
Money can help push technology further distances, but it is also technology's largest speedbump.
The plans suck, if we were like Ireland and had pay as you go minutes, more people would have them. Being locked in to a plan is the worst way to market a phone, but it makes the companys the most profit. Maybe a little off topic, but I think consumers would be a little more friendly towards cell service providers if the plans were better balanced. any thoughts?
Governments already have information on you, and they use your name to get to it. Same system, but the number is now in place of your name. Doesn't seem like a problem to me.
Pinky: "Naaaaaarrff! Oh, Brain! Aren't they beautiful!"
Brain:"Yes, Pinky. Are you pondering what I'm pondering?"
Pinky: "I think so, Brain, but don't you think Microsoft already has a software package that limits the spread of ideas?"
Brain: "No, Pinky! I mean Moon Rocks! Look at them! The moon is the symbol of everything. Every creature looks up to it at night. If some genius were able to go in to the JSC and take the moon rocks he could use the power of the moon to force the masses to conquer the astrology pages, even the palm readers and eventually the world! And I, Pinky, am that genius."
Pinky: "But, Brain, how are we going to get the moon rocks"
Brain: "Simple. There interns are underpaid and young, they could easily steal the moon rocks and bring them to me, then I will have the power of the moon and then- the world!"

This is a good question to ask.
followup:
What sort of tests do you think are appropriate to determine the intelligence of software?
