Ashamed that they did not pander to some opressives governments propaganda campaign? Ashamed that they recoginzed the independence of one country against the wishes of another?
Since it only supports the newest two models, why wouldn't I just get a new one from Sony or elsewhere with it built in?
Besides, wi-fi spots are few and far between (there's like two or three in the central SC area), while my bluetooth capable phone works all over the place.
Of I could just be a little pissy about the fact that other companies would have one out already if Palm would license the needed OS code.
NS 4 was the reason I landed on Mozilla back in those rough pre 1.0 days. Anything * was better than having a crash on every other page. If I had to pick a favorite version of NS, it would have to be pre 4.
*(Other than IE, I never trusted activeX, seems I was right.)
All in all it's probably a better deal than we get here (US). We have "free" TV, but it is Ad laden and restricted by what the ratings will support.
Our public TV has some good stuff (and some HD too), but it gets minimal federal funding and has to beg for donations all the time. (AFAIK, the congress mandated push to HD is reaming their budgets too, they won't survive this decade)
The pay options are ok, but still ad driven and you can end up with a $100+ a month TV bill if you get any "top tier" stuff.
As for me, basic cable is bundled in my rent, so there's little choice in it.
As long as you have the right to release it for free (GPL, BSD, whatever), why does it matter if Novell can realease it for pay?
They still have to compete with your free version.
I guess the main question would be: "Would it bother you if we (novell) started making money off this thing you gave us?" If the answer is yes, then this deal is not for you.
You are probably right to a degree, but have you heard the crap that business schools are teaching these days?
I have started to be of the opinion that many of the problems in the economy and society that we complain about here on/. are the results of generations of leaders that actually believe in these stupid ideas.
I just noticed the certain level of irony created by combining that comment with my sig, that is meant to take advantage of a marketers silly pyramid scheme.
Only a marketer would think giving away ipods is a profitable business idea.
I just hope I get one before the pyramid collapses and the company folds.
There's nothing to stop HP from making replacement parts on an ongoing basis if they wanted to. As long as there is a market for the repair services, why landfill working hardware?
Linux already supports most "generic" hardware. But most systems nowadays are expected to do things that you can't do on a generic video card. A lot of things now don't have a generic equivalent.
I have found that some win 9x programs that change the right click menu cause probelms in explorer.
I did an upgrade install once, and had to get into the registry and delete all the right click extensions that were installed under 98. Worked fine after that.
Companies have tried but, Palm would not license the necessary code.
SGI may have something to say about those ideas.
Read the article.
You should look closer at the issues.
Incorrect.

It seems to be less of a pro-lazyness rant than a "how to get ahead by bucking the system" rant.

At least not without a top down Orwellian soceity where all hardware and software is controlled.
They still have to compete with your free version.

They can't help that they have no soul.
So who pays the reporters, or webmasters? Just wonderin'.

Methinks you underestimate how badly software projects of that sort often go.
Ehh about .75
P-P-Pleeese buy our stock!!!!
The most prominent Linux apps are open source anyway.

We keep getting closer to the point where who actually think just say, fuck it, and refuse to labor for the rest of the scumbags around them.
