They are copying the ipod model and want to crush it. The problem is more than ever people are getting tired of the whole one manufacturer/style bit. They want variety. All microsoft is doing is making sure the zune doesn't have a chance. If people want a player locked into one store, they will get an ipod. Microsoft should release the zune to be compatible with all stores and even set up a team just to crack itunes drm so they can continually make the zune itunes compatible. Then the zune would have a chance. Hell they could strike deals with the media companies to be allowed to strip fairplay from a file and lock it with their own drm all in one process.
uTube isn't the name of the company, it's a short hand version of their name universal tube & blah blah. It's completely crap for them to claim they have the rights to youTube, when youTube is the name of the site and company, not just the domain name.
I think the closed source parking garage was a perfect example why the government shouldn't let a private company control government assets or processes.
So the moral of this story is freedom of speech exists, but only if your so poor no one can take anything away from you. This is most disturbing. I also find 11 million crap, because odds are a life time of referring wouldn't even have netted her a million.
Couldn't an independant organization just register the name and direct it to spamhaus's servers? Wouldn't that make it impossible to revoke the domain name?
It is currently september 29th, tomorrow is the 30th. I would hope slashdot can prevent idiots trying to jump the gun. Slashdot should be able to read a calendar and understand that the month of october starts on the 1st of october, not the 29th of september.
That's true, but they are charging people to search a catalog of papers they don't own. This is in essense napster(had napster charged). They are caching a large number of works they don't own and are letting paying customers pay to search through them and use them. My guess is that they have some kind of bullshit disclaimer that says when you submit a paper they are allowed to retain it for their own use. Of course that's meaningless if the person submitting the paper didn't write it(say the teacher) or if a student does plagerize(then they don't own what they submitted). Someone is going to sue this company, and when the company is asked to show proof that the original copyright owners of every work allowed them the rights to use them, they won't be able to.
Now that blue screens don't come up in xp anymore, apple is picking up the slack by letting you customize it's error screens to be blue. So all the blue screen refrences can still be valid. Thanks apple for writing a crappy os.
Of course the battery life is going to be lower if the processor can't be underclocked and that effect should be expected.
But unless Vista is overclocking the hardware, Apple clearly screwed up. They have written their software to cripple the speed of the mac book to prevent heat issues because the design of the mac book cannot handle the heat of the processor. Which means, if you have to run your processor at say 50% of it's true speed to prevent overheating, Apple is mislabeling the processors as 50% faaster than they can safely be run at. If apple users weren't so in love with apple, we could have a class action on our hands.
The thing I don't get is, he can easily give them a computer that never had music on it. There is no way to prove the computer he gives them was even on or not on his internet connection or in or not in his house when the downloading/uploading occured. The person who deleted files was an idiot, it's simple have two computers, one for downloading and one for surfing. In the event of subpoena let a friend hold onto the downloading computer and turn over the clean one. Basically the only way the RIAA will be able to catch anyone, is if they can raid houses before notifying people in advance that they have identified their connection as a one used to download music.
A blind person can easily surf the web with the aid of a non blind person. I'd say just give us the user agent of whatever browser blind people are using and we can redirect them to a purely text page that says this page is not designed for blind people.
acid test = retard doesn't know how to code a page correctly so were trying to see if a browser will display code based on the programmers intentions. It's stupid, and any browser that renders it correctly is flawed.
No teen created gps, and anything you can do with gps is pretty self explanatory. This teen has created nothing. This is a service, that if was in any way popular would easily be taken over by a real company. Plus, with software any cellphone could easily already do this and more.

Businesses should be using WSUS, so why do they need a tool to block it?

Disable it, problem solved.
I think I had a lamp 15 years ago that would turn on, dim, and turn off by touching any metal on it.

Whats the point in open sourcing something newscorp would no doubt buy from you real fast to limit the negative publicity.

The powerpad has been out for the NES for a long time. http://www.gamersgraveyard.com/repository/nes/peri pherals/powerpad.html
Apple users should all move to san francisco where they can enjoy smelling their own farts.

That of course is all that matters! Plus trying to link the 2005 doctor who to the old doctor who is complete trash. They are not the same show. LLSG!

Where are the technology and computer science students?
There is not a chance in hell I would use an online app for something that runs fine on my local pc. Why add an unneeded security risk?

Why does this article IE7, when the RC1 version has been out for a while.

If they understood file sharing they would have offered an .avi file, not a crappy .mov file.
