Being a help desk person, I definitly on the side of removing it but I would like to add removing the Num Lock key from standard keyboards too. I've never understood why it's there. When you turn it off, there are two sets of keys that do the same thing next to each other. I thought of making a hack to go inside a keyboard that would detect the numlock light off and turn the key back on then I would rewire the button it's self to link to either the = or \ key. Probably = since it makes more sense with the keys there.
As for what to put in place of the Caps Lock, how about "Fire" for playing first person shooters.

This could backfire on MS if all the major website admins pushed to get the sites working flawlessly with Firefox then put notices up on where to download Firefox in case they have problems with IE 7.
There are a lot of nuts out there. Many of them are highly religious and superstitious. You need to get out of the computer room from time to time and you'll see. If I could take some meds to make them go away I would but more likely it would just make me not care that they are there. I'd rather know about them so I could avoid them. Believe it or not, those of us that aren't religious and superstitious are in the minority.
I have a friend that lost her black polydactyl cat when some nuts thought it was a witch cat and killed it. A talking mirror might just make people like that try to burn your house down with you in it.
I would love to have one, I would just not show it to unstable nut cases. It kind of reminds me of the technomages from Babylon 5.
The easiest way to prevent loss of data is to back it up on a card that you don't leave in the phone. Hide the card somewhere and if you need to restore it, just grab the card.
Maybe I should sell my Treo 600 to a high school kid. When the battery goes dead, it's wiped. I kind of liked that feature. My Treo 650 retains the data when the battery is disconnected. On the 600, it wouldn't be hard to rig up a quick pull pin that disconnects the battery wiping the memory.
So, I'd be better off watching the news? Well... I get tired of hearing about the whole 911, War on Terror, War in Iraq (= just another Crusade to take the holy lands and they're resources), etc. Sometimes I like sci-fi escapism. Sci-Fi isn't always about commenting on the human condition, sometimes it's about a platform for presenting new ideas, and sometimes it's just meant to entertain. It would have been possible for the new BG to be a comment on the current world situation and still maintain the defined elements that made the original BG unique. Remakes are usually a pale reflection of the original. Bad remakes seems to be the current fashion.
I have many problems with the new BG series. The show is too close to the Western Earth military, clothing styles, culture, etc. The original built a whole culture based on a connection to ancient human civilization such as Egyptians and Toltecs. Also the Galactica was a very old ship, on the order of 500 years and had been updated over the years. It was multigenerational ship. The new one is only about 50 years old and was to be mothballed at the start of the series. Visually the Galactica looks like a younger ship than the Pegasus from the outside and more like the Galactica from the original series.
One of the things I like about many sci-fi shows such as the original Galatica, Star Trek, Farscape and many others is that they create alien cultures. The new BG series had a ready made culture and they didn't use hardly any of it. Another annoying thing is that the show seems to be a tobacco commercial at times. Granted that Starbuck did on the original series too. It's insane to thing that anyone would be smoking on a space craft or a doctor smoking while with a patient.
There are things I do like about the show such as the humanoid Cylons, the more accurate physics, the interpersonal conflicts and the new Vipers. Although that last episode was too much of a jump for the show. Over all I have more of a negative view of the new show but it's like a traffic accident, you just have to look at it.
They are installing cameras everywhere. Intersections, highways, downtown areas, local neighborhoods, etc. This is only a natural progression of the attitude that seems to be all over the state these days. Oh and they are also making many new toll roads. Even roads already paid for by tax payers. The scary part is that I pass a toll way named after George Bush (Sr) twice a day.
Why not a game where you are the native Americans defending your home and tribal lands against invading hords of enemies? You could prevent your homes from being burnt to the ground, family members violated & slaughtered, keep them from stealing your children, raising them up in religious institutions to kill your culture, keep them from desecrating the graves of your ancestor and driving your people thousands of miles from their home so they could steal your land. Sounds like a good game; (borrowing a quote from The Last Starfighter), to fight a desperate battle against incredible odds.
I think a better class would be "The History of religious influence on Science". A lot of students would come out of the class disliking organized religion when they see just how much religion has held back the advancement of science.
To me she looks like she is somewhat amused at something private or even taboo. If it were sexual in nature then that would explain the small part of disgusted and fearful, maybe even the hint of anger. Artists will sometimes do what it takes to get the reaction out of their subject that they desire. This is as much a part of the art as the act of painting.
I would imagine for the first few years the displays will be only animated focus segments on images rather than the whole thing. They'll probably print the main image on paper and epaper for what they want the viewer to focus on. As far as power, if they don't use induction to broadcast power to it on the shelf then shelf life will become a big factor with products.
I wouldn't mind having an epaper display as a secondary monitor for displaying text and low refresh graphics. Maybe an epaper terminal.
crappy!? bootleg!? My copy this is!
mmmm Philly cloned steak sandwich.

This kind of reminds me the hearings about comics in the 50s.

and here I was thinking it was the fact that I'm one of the in between people. I'm not religious, don't go to clubs, and work the over night shift...
I agree. It's best to responsible but maintain playfullness and a childlike sense of wonder, to do otherwise would be to stagnate and die mentally.
I'm just waiting on the temp to snap back in the other direction.
I have a Esprit 100-TCE thin client. I just wish I knew enough about it and porting linux to replace WinCE on it with Linux.
I wonder when the RIAA will ban sneakers because they help file transfers on sneakernet?
They missed making money on the new look, they should have cut an advertizing deal with the people that own the My Little Pony trademark.
:D
Finally geek and pink empowerment!

I ran into the Norton thing a few years ago. It was annoying. Took awhile to get rid of that folder.
It would be ironic if cracking Blu-Ray's DRM became less about coping movies and more about making hi-tech bricks.
I love your suggestion!
