Once a planet warms up enough with green house gases, we can get some plant life on the planet to assist in the creation of oxygen through this same cycle and eventually make a planet liveable. Though it's not something we'll see in our lifetimes, studies such as these benefit the species as a whole in the long run (i.e. big picture of time).
But... I dont understand... Rush Limbaugh tells us that there is no such thing as the greenhouse effect...
Cool. Now all the Linux gamers can enjoy a game which was released for Windows way back in 2000. Maybe with some advances, they can play current games by 2005.
The Scoop: This long-rumored project is well past its prime. However, Threshold Entertainment still has the movie rights to Duke Nukem. They've even got an official website for the seemingly stalled flick, but nothing has been posted on it in ages. The studio had hooked up with Dimension Films and was planning, as of late 2001, to turn the property into a PG-13 film set in outer space.
So its slowed down, was due out long ago, and has changed directions. Once it is released, it will be long overdue, over budget, and probably very bad.
The movie could very well be in the same situation.
I thought the Mortal Kombat movie was an excellent action/martial arts film. Come on, it even had Ray Park. Now, were you to say MK2, I would have to vomit; a definite "Dont see".
Resident Evil wasnt too bad. I dragged a bit, but it was kind of good in a bad horror film sort of way. Definitely on par with something like Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, HellRaiser, or Halloween.
Final Fantasy. Hiring Ben Afleck was their first mistake...
I made one final tweak that you might find interesting -- or maybe not, if you are a hard-core gamester. The beta default is full-screen mode. I wanted a window. Serious players like to shut down X completely, then run xinit and start the game. That way, no cycles are wasted on other GUI apps. This technique seems to speed up the number of frames per second, while windowing the game slows it down, at least at higher resolutions. I saw between 24 and 31 fps running NWN from xinit at 800 x 600 resolution. In a window under Red Hat 8.0's Bluetooth GNOME with a resolution of 1024 x 768, the fps ranged from 14 and 20, which I found a little slow. Staying with the window but running at 800 by 600, the fps was steady at 24, which is fast enough for me to play a game of this type.
I dont know about you, but I generally like to see frame rates that are consistenly OVER 30 fps, not just on the high end of the average.
You may want to bitch at the person writing the article. I only know what I read: Im not one of those pathetic people trying to be a "Linux Gamer" or a "Mac Gamer", and I dont pound in nails with a flat rock, either.
So, the article posting is basically opining that, if programs were completely secure, there would be not security breaches. Very nice thinking, but the sky is blue in the world I live in.
ok, I was exagerating a bit when I said you can do everything, but there is a lot. Also, now you can work on the server in a terminal session with its ability to have one admin session.
And yes, I do realize this is the lazy mans way out, but at least the problem is starting to be addressed. They have made a LOT of progress if you look at where they started from. Lets face it, LanMan just plain SUCKED. Im glad that now, with Active Directory and Windows 2000 (and beyond) we can finally start to jettison the LanMan and NetBIOS stuff. It will probably take a bit more time to finally rid us of all of that, because they cant totally ditch backward compatibility. But someday, our children will no longer have to toil under the shadow of NetBIOS!!!
I doubt it: they probably dont see a reason to lie about their product just to make a bunch of angry-at-the-world, pimply faced, college student linux users happy.
If you want to know whats new, there is an abundance of information on all things Microsoft.
And you CAN do just about anything you want remotely (without a gui), but it does take planning to impliment. Everything you need is with the downloadable Resource Kit Tools.
Most Slashdotters (and managers as well) dont realize there is more to maintaining MS networks than point and click.
Here are a few more abuses: Reasons to Avoid Microsoft [lugod.org]. (More than 200 in one year!) In case your boss is uncertain, this abuse list will help educate him.
Pretty interesting web site. I guess the basic premise is that every problem that MS fixes is listed as a "Bad Thing (tm)" on that site.
Quite an original take on the anti-MS agenda- havent seen that one done before, like on, say, Slashdot, on like, well, every day.
Im only interested if it shows graphic depictions of tentacle rape.
Um, mods, you may want to understand what you are moderating. A 'Troll' is an inflamatory statement, mearly stated to provoke others to "Flame". Modding some "Flame" is either a response to an obvious "Troll", or else a hostile posting.
Personally, I would have expected this to be moderated "Funny", seeing how I post it on every anime/manga article I see. However, feel free to moderate it "Redundant" for such behavior. However, "Troll" is entirely inappropriate.
I saw a copy of the leaked press release. Jobs is going to announce that Universal is going to extend services to their key demographic.
Specifically, he will be signing George Michael, Boy George, Yanni, Ricky Martin, and the Backstreet Boys, to name just a few artists. Apple's intention will now be to provide the fullest range of products catering to 'alternative' ways of doing things.
An interesting parallel would be comparing how Las Vegas handled security. There were some people they busted for fraud who, instead of prosecuting, they hired as security consultants. As a result, Vegas security can spot scams by camera, and they train people to know what to look for, etc.
If you just go throwing people with specialized knowledge away, then that knowledge goes away with them.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, specialFX company ILM is now capable of doing realtime CGI, allowing actors and directors to see rough CGI immediately after a scene is filmed.
Well if you have figured out a way they can watch a monitor and do their scene at the same time, let them know.
It could usher in a whole new era- I want to watch myself actually doing work, while Im doing it. But if Im watching it, then Im not doing it... This could possibly create a paradox and make the universe disappear!!!
Its all lies! Everyone knows Apple Computers invented the GUI!!! M$ ripped off their idea!!! And they invented the Operating System!!!! And Microprocessors- Intel ripped off Apple too!!!! And everyone knows that lamps ripped off their look from iMacs!! And Apple invented pastel colors, too!!
Oh. Well, the main character looked like Ben Affleck. But whatever- they are both terribly overrated.
The main character's voiced by Alec Baldwin. Whom, I heard from the guys who worked on the movie, was a real dick during the voicing process.
Im sure he is probably the nicest wife-beater they ever met.

The good news, is we have water! The bad news... its radioactive.
Please bear in mind, dude, that you are posting this on slashdot...
Strangely enough, none of the antivirus sites have a listing for a kiddie-porn downloading virus...

You mean running NeverWinter Nights at 20fps isnt good enough for you?

Im not homophobic at all.

In this case, anyway.

Maybe they should focus on making it accessible to regular people, and THEN focus on a sub-demographic.

I hear that now, with the new WINE, I can actually get a whopping 20 fps on Quake! Its that fast!
Maybe the people in your company should have had the brains to buy the enterprise version, which doesnt need to be activated.
I will now resume laughing at you.
