Just found out: If you just type "airspeed velocity", you'll get as first two results:
airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow is roughly 11 meters (10), 24 miles (9), 10 meters (2) average cruising airspeed velocity of an unladen European Swallow is 24 mph (2)
It seems to have trouble understanding units, but otherwise the information is found.
Of course all this only applies to vacuum. For example, the light of the sun needs much longer from the center of the sun to its surface, than from the surface to the earth, despite the fact that the first distance is much shorter.
I don't know where exactly gamma ray bursts are produced during a supernova, but if there's a substantial matter in between, I could imagine that they take longer than gravitational waves (gravitational waves might also be affected, but since their interaction with matter is much weaker, I'd expect them to be less affected).
Moreover it might just be that gravitational waves are produced earlier than gamma rays.
Now I'm no astrophysicist, so I cannot tell if any of those possibilities applies. However, in the supernova SN 1987A, Neutrinos arrived about three hours before visible light, and since we now know that neutrinos are massless and therefore slower than light in vacuum, and therefore, for all we know, also slower than gravitational waves, it's not unimagniable that gravitational waves would arrive first.
The good agreement between the observed value and the theoretically calculated value of the orbital path can be seen as an indirect proof of the existence of gravitational waves.
Ok, so maybe airplanes should have a pilot experience setting which is set before the pilot enters, and cannot be changed by the pilot himself, and only experienced pilots may override the computer.
At least we have 0.9% here in Germany. Which means they get the campaign money back.
That's an understatement. If you surpass the 0.5% threshold, you get back about 70 cents per vote. For the Pirate Party this totals to more than 160,000 euros. Compare that to the 600 euros they were campaigning on this time.
0.9% is a great success.
Especially given their little campaigning. Indeed, if it were not for Slashdot, I might not have recognized that they even exist. If they use those 160.000 euros for campaigning, they might get more visible next time.
None. Wolfram will be more reliable, but incomplete. Google will be more complete, but unreliable.
I'd say the best is to have both tools available. So if you are satisfied with Wolfram's results, then great. Otherwise you can just turn to Google and then yourself verify the information you got. Of course there's always Wikipedia to get in the mix, and finally you shouldn't forget about the old-fashioned library. Each one has its own advantages and drawbacks.
Also add license, producer and price. You'll learn that Mac is GPLed, the producer of Windows earned $141 and Windows costs nothing. The price of Mac also sounds quite low.
I also didn't know that Java data types have a result, that Java's has an integer type which is always 3, that Java's float is used to create a left-float element (usually an image), and that Java's double only can contain negative numbers. Also I didn't know that operators are a data type in Java, and their result is always FALSE.
I was disappointed that I was asked to sign both times I used my UK Visa Debit card in a shop in Germany at the weekend. I don't know if this was ignorance (e.g. the shop staff thinking my card wouldn't work) or incompatibility.
Neither. In Germany it's standard practice that you have to sign if you pay with a card.
I use my personal domain for my "good" email address and also to host personal stuff like photo albums, avatars, bookmarks and such. Call me old fashioned, but I like to keep my private stuff away from corporations, so I try to avoid photobucket, flickr etc.

I conclude you dream yourself the master of the corporations.:-)

Well, at least you got 0 results. With "where is New York" I got -1 result!
Even worse: I asked "What is Slashdot?" and the first result was "Digg is Slashdot" ...
But *we* are obviously not that other form of life.
Actually it's a pseudo-particle which arises from quantizing cowardness.

To be sure, ask an astrophysicist.
Yes it was.
From the linked page:
Since it crashed, it must have been running Windows. :-)

And then they'll be very surprised that we do not look like Sesame street characters :-)
Actually, the extraterrestrials could be hostile. So instead of asking them for porn, send them the goatse picture to scare them away from earth. :-)

But searching for C++ compiler fails (it always changes the query to C compiler).

Interesting things I learned from http://www.google.com/squared/search?q=free+GUI+library
* Glade is fiction
* Windows is shareware
* OpenGL is official GNU software
Also design patterns works quite well for the initial columns. :-)
BTW, click "Add next 10 items" to find out that singletons are sexy

Well, there is another web browser named Mozilla. It was quite popular before Firefox replaced it. ...
Of course it never was developed by "website"
Ask about Google itself and add the column "users". :-)
You'll learn that gmail has only 6 users.

and even if I deposit it right back, I still get overdraft charges...
Which of course means the bank will not warn you.
I had no idea example.com was reserved. +e insightful.
You're being irrational.
But he is so in a decidedly positive way.
