Well, given that the ways to make energy are exactly zero (conservation of energy), I'd say that the alternatives to windows clearly outnumber them. :-)

One alternative to windows: Electric light, and air conditioning sucking fresh air through pipes. Of course I don't think this alternative will get rather popular (and it's not very environment friendly either). But it's an alternative.

Note that this is also fusion power (though far less potent than the sun, but what in our solar system isn't?)

There's no fusion going on in the Earth. Indeed, most of the Earth's heat is still left over from the formation of Earth, with some additional heat being produced by radioactive decays.

Actually, at the surface of the sun, no fusion takes place. The fusion happens in the center of the sun, which is much hotter than the surface. Though still less hot than needed for a fusion reactor on earth where we can't get the enourmous pressure the sun maintains through its own gravitation.

No, not all life. There are some life forms in the deap sea which are powered by vulcanic power. Indeed some researchers think that life could have originated there.

    8. The secret experiment with the transporter beam didn't work exactly as planned. Instead of beaming away their waste, they beamed away their food. Well, actually that's good luck, because the aliens at the place they beamed the stuff to (of course they didn't know about those aliens due to the alien's perfect stealth technology) will now be much more friendly than if they had recieved the waste.

Of course you can program every single method in flash. But the flash app does not adapt to the environment.

What if someone with viewing problems has special settings to display web pages differently (f.ex. with extra big font and increased contrast)? The flash animation will simply ignore his settings. Of yourse, you can make a flash animation with extra big fonts and increased contrast. But the fact is that your flash app will not adapt. It will be those big fonts and high contrast only if you had the idea that anyone might need this (and are bothered enough to make the extra effort to program it in). And even then I guess you have to tell the flash app explicitly that you want that special setting, instead of automatically taking the browser defaults.

And besides, in my experience Flash is almost exclusively used for advertisements anyway.

Well, HD-DVD coming doesn't mean BluRay may not come, too, at a later time. I guess the dream of the content marketers is:
    * First, sell the content on DVD (this is what currently is done).
    * Then, sell the same content again on HD-DVD.
    * Then, sell the same content again on BluRay.

That's three times the revenue, instead of two times when going directly to BluRay.
