    for the first time, or at all, BECAUSE of games? I know I did. I know that they taught me lots of things - especially even just programming very rudimentary games on the apple deuce in 7th and 8th grade. That gave me a huge appreciation for computers, what they can do, and what a good product looks like. My text based zork type games were very easy to write, however the pixelized boxing game (that I was creating with the wrong process) took many many lines of code and required mass critical thinking.

    And I can relate this to what was supposed to be a huge blockbuster, although I don't know if their programmers are just new, inexperienced, or just don't know what a good game is - or, they were told to dumb it down as the company wanted an incoming stream of income like they had with their graphical chat room (WoW).

    Good to know Carmack didn't disappear with his riches to some virtual island he created by writing 3 lines of code.

    On the serious side, if anyone should be at the helm in changing the way gaming is done, its Carmack. Unless he was on some crazy drugs when he thought up how to do real 3D with quake.. then we might need to all chip in and get him some new "inspiration." :)

    Gotta love politicking. "The art of postponing a decision until its no longer relevant." -that new WW2 movie about the black fighter pilots.

    Where I work, I see that people further down the chain are being trained to do this, and to not answer questions with any sort of real answer. Its quite depressing to see us advance in the wrong direction.

    that just released a huge title? The third in the trilogy that's been in work for 12 years? I'm sure if I had no morals, I would have no problem hiring someone to DDoS the site that would be distributing the software a lot of people have been looking for so they would just go out and buy it. Or, more likely, steal out of their mom's purse. Which is the more likely thing that this would cause.

    just one of many scenarios. Its fun to think of alternatives.

    Seems to me its just more attempts to polarize the masses...

    Here's what you'd want one group saying...

    "I've got to watch 20 seconds of this crap because those computer "hackers" are messing everything up!!! Rabble rabble rabble!!!"

    And the other group is saying "Ummm... Do you know what "hacker" means? This isn't about pirating, its about xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"

    It doesn't matter what you fill in the xxx's with - the people on the other side of the argument are usually the irrationals who don't usually side with understanding or logic and aren't going to listen.

    There's not much else I can say but this...

    The lack of attention to the rise in obesity since america got hooked on corn syrup is astounding to me. Sure some of us are less active, but bring in the ease of use of the internet, and the 500 channels of nothing to watch on TV, and you get an excellent equation for a fat country.

    eh... i wouldn't say obama know how. I'd say politicians know how to keep people divided over petty squabbles.

    I was talking with a friend about this yesterday, and basically, when the GOP finally tries to take too much from their own side, and that will happen, there will be a unified america and a march on washington. And since military families typically vote conservative, they won't be fighting for the government vs the people, and they probably also have more guns than the common liberal.

    agreed, but if it becomes detrimental, and we kill ourselves, then it hardly did us any good. I'd say we definitely didn't need it in that case.

    There isn't a need for it. Look at the fossil records of anything that was around for 100+ million years. You *hardly* need intelligence to survive.

    Not to mention we have no natural predators besides viruses, which allows us to reproduce very unnaturally, and starts to favor very strange traits - traits that don't benefit the species but work because we have modern conveniences such as electricity, indoor lighting, cooling, heating, etc.

    Now go watch it! :D

    I remember when the first tv's that were interpolating frames came out... Besides for sports, higher frame rates, to me, take something away from what you're viewing. Its like the "artistic" element is tarnished.

    Not only is it a "red" state, it is also the 4th largest city...

    Interesting pilot city... There was just an article about how analytical people tend to be less religious, so it is also interesting to note that Houston probably falls high on the list of "christian majority cities" so the question begs... "Was Houston chosen for two reasons, because its the 4th largest, and also has a majority of people who ... (not trying to troll) perhaps don't analyze as much as people from less religious cities? If I offended, please accept my early apology.

    I just don't think that will happen. If someone is getting their information from a brainwashing factory (ie - faux news), they have been told the same thing so many times already that its gospel. To think outside of the faux box is literally heresy. I've never run across someone who calls themselves a conservative that will listen to your point and think about it - they will simply just regurgitate what they have been told. I have had conversations with people, and they will listen, but its like I am talking to a brick wall - they refuse to think about it.
