I'll have to have a dig around; if I open an incognito window, that doesn't work either. However, if I use a different login, then it does work!
Other info; If I right-click on the black box I see where the video should be, I do get an Adobe Flash context menu. I've tried clicking in the very centre in case the thumbnail is failing to load or something, but it still doesn't want to start.
UPDATE: Found it - I've got "Block third-party cookies and site date" checked. Un-checking that allows it to work.
Slightly off-topic, but the above video won't play in Chrome in Ubuntu (12.04 64bit) for me; I just get a black box showing.
I can get it to play in Firefox on the same Ubuntu machine... but it's annoying so I thought I share/bleat about it!:D
FYI it seems just only be a problem with Slashdot embedded videos... I've not had a problem elsewhere.
..yeah I realised soon after I posted, but the reason was that I was reading an article on the 2nd of April that was itself posted on the 2nd of April that still had a ROTed summary. And it wasn't funny in the first place!
Just adding my voice to the "this is shit" side of the argument. Okay, so by next week it'll be fine on the website because I'm logged in, but if my RSS reader still shows ROT13ed content then I'm probably not going to bother coming back. Seriously, what muppet came up with this idea and thought it was a good one?
The author of #1451 has a video of it on his blog. Oddly, it does appear to be working on my Browser (Chrome 26.0.1410.43 on Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit) but it is slower than the video and for some reason, the bee's wings don't show!
Elsewhere on the internet someone made what I felt was a valid point that if jokes about dongles and forks aren't appropriate at a tech conference, then where the hell are they appropriate?!
On a more serious note, I believe that the jokes were part of a private conversation, so if that was was said a little too loud, then it's perhaps deserving of a disapproving scowl... or even mildly curt rebuke if it really needed to be amped up to 11. But not a Twitter photo post.
I do believe it's unfortunate that Adria got fired, but at no point did she seem to understand that the way she reacted was waaaaay wrong, and also, rather passive-aggressive-bullyish.
Also, in-case you've not seen my previous post, it turns out she has a history of this which causes me to be somewhat less sympathetic to her currently unemploy[ed|able] situation.
MS are weird like that. Tab-completion of paths has been in there forever (like since NT4 or maybe before?) but required a registry tweak to enable until... XP I think?
I didn't like Mos Def's delivery of the lines; one because he didn't seem to get the timing on a lot of the jokes right, and two because he's not a convincing actor. Conversely... Zaphod I didn't mind because Zaphod is meant to be a complete tit! I like that they tried something different with the second head, but I think it failed really... Zaphod really should have two heads on his shoulders.
Agreed with the iMarvin though! Also, I liked the new Heart of Gold and the visuals for flipping through infinite improbability.
Total speculation on my part, but it sounds like the GPU and CPU are all on the same die and so I'd guess they'll put whatever security they're using in there.
Again, me speculating, but I'd guess the reason for switching to a X86 architecture has a lot to do with lowering their development costs. Anything custom they do need to develop, such as the GPU (assuming they're not using something off the shelf) they can also sell on their laptops... maybe?
I've setup port-knocking to open the port I actually use for SSH, and my SSH key is passphrase protected. Passphrase not password.
Pfft. Lightweight. Nobody's ever getting into my passnovelseries-protected pubkey. Passnovelseries not passnovel.
And I change languages and character sets every chapter.
Not bad, not bad! But I'll share a little pro-tip with you; I do all the above, PLUS I turn my monitor upside down when I'm typing in my passphrase so that even if someone stole my SSH key, they'd still have to figure out it's orientation!!

I suspect Norton Mobile Security will not perform any worse on RT or 8 as it does on iOS or Android.
Arguably, it'd perform better since there'd be no slow down!
Plus, Apple still charge EXACTLY THE SAME for memory today as they did then! ;)
Funny enough, I was saying just this here. But it turns out that Chromium (but not Chrome... at least at the time) has an option for this.

If this was Xmas I'd be saying "bah! humbug!"

Well done, you've slashdotted them!

Never the less, it's really impressive!
It's going to be a heck of a commute, from the UK to Sunnyvale.
It's okay, it's 2013 so he can telecommut... oh wait, yeah you're right!

Why not blame the people actually doing the firing?
Agreed, we should try and get them fired!
I was hoping Sendgrid would hire Mr Hank as Adria's new boss and he could fire her! :D
ONLY THEN would the Karma balance be restored!

10% = World Domination?
Yeah... 'cos if they had 100% of the market, then they'd have no one else to dominate over! :D
You clearly need a longer power cord!
oolite appears to be in the Raspian repository... dunno how well it runs though, but it should be okay.
I'd imagine that a drone could kill people on the ground if it hit them? But they'd probably be foreign, so that's okay.
Perhaps to incentivise the drone pilots to not crash, they should sit them in ejector seats? You know, inside their office!

Apparently the jaw size problem is relatively recent and caused by the use of cutlery! Don't understand how or why myself... perhaps we should all eat food with our hands until we reach maturity?

Dunno if it'll be cheap, but HP are releasing a ChromeBook with a 14" screen.
In Iran, duct tape is an advanced material you insensitive infidel! ;)
