"I couldn't wait to see more of him and that last bit with him and the Yellow Power Ring was awesome."
While it was certainly cool, I didn't see a connection for him using it based in the movie plot. Hal makes the guardians and Sinestro see that Will is good enough and they don't need fear to beat fear. Sinestro even shows up to rescue Hal at the end...there is no plot connection between that and him putting on the yellow ring. Why did he do it? There was no sign of any temptation. No voice in his head egging him on, nothing. He just does it....I don't get it. There is nothing there showing me any reason he would turn at that point in the movie
There are mods that allow for quick building and protection of blocks as well as a lot of other useful stuff. You might check out bukkit as a place to start. It is a modding framework w/ a bunch of really useful plugins already made.
You wonder why Batman always caught those super-villains? They loved bragging about their exploits. If the Riddler had simply absconded w/ some cash from a bank and not left a calling-card, Batman would have had a far harder time figuring out...
Lulzsec obviously has a modicum of skill but all their bragging is going to do is get them caught.
I can testify that planned obsolescence of cameras is already happening. I have a working digital camera from about 1998/1999 era. I still have original cd w/ the drivers and software. It was designed for use w/ windows 98 via a USB cable. It also worked fine with windows 2000/xp. When I built my most current machine w/ windows 7 pro on it, I could not get the camera to work with windows 7. After finding documentation both by Microsoft and Kodak that stated in no uncertain terms that this camera amongst many others would not be supported, I wrote to kodak asking for help (I had nothing to lose), I got a form letter basically saying they were more interested in their newer models. I ended up having to purchase a 3rd party card reader to read the old card that it uses in order to pull pictures off of it.
I foresee some very scary circumstances coming out of this patent from the US dictatorship err *cough* government. I realize there would be ways to stop infrared feeds from getting into a camera that has this technology enabled but the masses won't bother or care.
Definitions:
Civil War - 2 factions vying for control of the same government(or football dominance if you live in Oregon and are a college football fan;-p) through military means (See Ivory Coast of late).
Mutiny - Crew rebels against officers and/or Captain on a ship or other crewed vehicle. (See Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl)
Barratry - Officers and/or crew rebel against the authority they purport to serve...usually a government (See Hunt for Red October)
Note that the so-called US Civil War meets none of these definitions. It is more properly termed a war of secession as one side (The Southern Confederacy) wanted out of the United States to form a separate country...not to overthrow it.
Moving on to Anonymous. They claim to have no one in overall control thus none of the 3 terms above should theoretically apply. Dissension in the ranks or secession might describe the situation.
Doesn't matter what he's doing. The US constitution says the government has no right to invade the privacy of a free citizen w/o a warrant which has to have probable cause and judicial approval. These warrantless trackers are blatantly unconstitutional.
Starbase?
Captain's Log, Stardate 2054.6. Visited orbiting refueling station on the way to a planned stop at Mars. The attendant did a horrible job on the windshield. Can't see a damn thing...I need better service station attendants. Mr. Spock, windshield status?....
You think that's bad, try to find real biographical data on a pro wrestler for fun. Most of what you get is a blow by blow of their wrestling careers as if everything was real. Matches, feuds, story-lines, etc...You have to filter a lot out to get the sparse actual biographical data.
Ditto here. I have a friend who went through pretty much the same thing you describe. He gave up just like you and no longer feels it is worth his time and effort to keep fighting the trolls who are camping certain articles.
"GPL is like promoting free speech until someone saids something YOU don't like..."
You all have no idea how much I see this sort of behavior from liberal democrats. ...
Now getting back on topic...GPL v3 is not pretty. I prefer v2. Parent is correct. If you want to make your software free(as in speech), let people use it as they wish. You will never get people to take a chance on OSS/FOSS if they have to always be looking over their shoulder worrying about a lawsuit.
There's no real value to the [select * political_party where political_party='p0wned by corporations' or elected >=1960].. That hasn't stopped people voting for them.
So essentially you're saying there is no value to any political party whatsoever as 100% of them fit your query. Voting is our right and our duty therefore we must vote for someone. Whom would you possibly vote for using your theory that *all* political parties have no value?
I had to throw something new in here since all the good stuff was taken. That said...
Superfriends made from the late 60s to the late 80s off and on (I could be a tad off on the years) showed us a mighty supercomputer in the Hall of Justice with a wall size flat looking screen that could video conference with World Leaders, local mayors and the Wonder Twins but when asked to help them solve a problem (voice activated by the way), it would produce answers on paper!? It had lots of glowy twinkly lights to show it was working too. Granted, this show was for younger kids...
We can also drift back to yesteryear; back to a time when computers could talk to us through voice synthesizers even over a piddly-ant analog modem and they had names...like Joshua. Back to the 1980s when War Games was the movie and the fake scene was that a top secret base administrator would allow a teenager to hack around on a system when a nuclear war was about to be initiated. That's kid's arse would be in the brig and under lock, key and armed guard. None of this "Let him try" crap.
There's also that movie that parodies Microsoft and has 3 kids who started a little open source startup and their top developer gets seduced by the big bad microsoft like company before realizing at the end that he was being used. It's way too late and I can't remember the name but oh boy was that movie full of techno-crap. It was fun to see them bash "Microsoft" though.
I wrote a very small, very simple batch script almost 10 years ago that will run on windows xp and 7 (probably on Vista as well but never bothered testing it as I never bothered using Vista) that will lock the screen of a computer. I simply used the windows built-in task manager to configure it to run after the system was idle for 5 minutes. I found this a very efficient way to protect anything a user might leave open when they step away from their terminal. If 5 minutes is too long for you, you can give task manager a shorter time frame too.
Very simple, very direct and requires no special hardware that can foul up things.
Seizure of property is, in theory, protected by the 4th Amendment. The US government has been violating it constantly for decades.
4th Amendment to US Constitution: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
I'll say it again. Someone has to do all this security setup. That person will always have enough power to get away w/ whatever they want. This means that having someone trustworthy is still paramount. No matter how much security exists, someone has to implement it and that someone therefore will have access and knowledge of how to hide from it and thus must be trustworthy.
Ah but someone has to have that root access in order to grant your theoretical team access. This still implies someone at the top w/ full access.
The best solution is still to find an admin you can trust. Requiring multiple sign offs on admin tasks is a gigantic waste of time and resources for overworked and underpaid IT departments.
Bab5 - Wait til 2nd season. Seasons 2,3 and 4 are fantastic...some of the best sci-fi I've ever seen.
Stargate SG1 - Adds a lot more space travel in later seasons. Fantastic overall show. Try to get past 1st season here also.
DS9 - Sequel series to TNG but much darker and edgier especially later seasons. Also many episodes span a story arc where in TNG 1-2 at most spanned an arc. 1st season rule applies here too...
Typical progressive liberal mindset. Can't take a lick of responsibility for your own actions. Always blaming someone else.
With great freedom comes great responsibility (yes I changed the quote but it applies).

Some time try standing up for the rights of someone other than yourself.

Did they happen to mention anything about cake being available after the press release? Maybe they have the wrong sentient AI computer? ;-p
You obviously don't know very many then. I know plenty who are kind, generous and intelligent people.
