This "cluelessly deluded" has worked all over the world. When you have, you can tell me whats what. Until then.........
You have no complaint, you have a whine. Tell me just where you have tried to work other than the states? Or better yet, save it. You havent tried, you are just repeating the same old coward's line about unfairness.
First, schools dont need more money from taxes to do a better job. Most private schools excel on less than half of the dollars per student that our Public schools do, and produce a better educated kid every time. Even homeschoolers are kicking the asses of public school students, who cant write or spell, but can whip a condom on a banana in the blink of an eye.
I drive one (of 2) of those big ass SUV's, and I'll shoot anyone who wants to deny me my right to them. No one takes money from public schools, it isnt their money. You must be one of those socialists who actually believe that our money belongs to the government, and we are lucky to have what they let us keep.
The hell with that. I'll bet you are one of those freakin' socialists who think it is their place to tell me what I need and dont need, as if it is your right.
I dont work for the government, I work for me. My money is MY money, not yours, not the governments, not the welfare momma you might have come from.
Wake up genius; People built this country, not governments. People built those sucky public schools that turn out nothing of note these days. It is PEOPLE who can either fix them, or become irrelavent as people move their kids to places where they can learn, and the dregs can stay there and practice Condoms101 on each other.
"Tell you what.... when it's as easy for me to go to another country and work as it is for foreigners to come HERE and work for peanuts.... then maybe I'll think about not complaining about it."
I'll bet you have never even tried it.
If you are any good, and can PROVE it, then working anywhere in the world is not hard at all. Do you have a name and reputation that is known to those you would want to work for? No? Why not, loser?
Do you know how to market yourself? No? Why the fuck not, loser? The "protectionist" policies of other countries are exactly what they SHOULD be here. They let in the talented and productive, and exclude those wishing to come and suck off of their economy.
I have; and I know many others who have worked overseas with no problems at all. After 6 months, you dont even have to pay US taxes in most cases. With your attitude, I would bet you cant even make a case for being an essential employee in America, much less overseas.
I guarantee you that those college educated foreign workers have withstood more competition and rigor than you are ever likely too, and they deserve the new consideration that they are recieving from American corporations. Overseas much more than over here, the cream rises to the top.
You can follow the jobs, pal. The question is can you DO those jobs well enough to be in demand?
Each and every one of us earns exactly what we are worth to the people or clients who pay us. Enough with the socialist drivel, okay?
I'm a coder too, and this isnt going to hurt a bit. I agree with you on one thing though; anyone who can do what I do better, faster or for less money, deserves the right to take my income away from me. As far as I am concerned, my only responsibility is to make sure that doesnt happen by continually improving my skills.
I am so sick and tired of the bitching that goes on about jobs leaving the states. If there are better/cheaper resources elsewhere for businesses to depend on, then THEY SHOULD LEAVE.
Maybe when enough businesses have moved their engineering overseas, then people in this country might be better motivated to fix the fucked-up public school system in this country. Never have a nations children been dumber.
Everyone of us knows a child who can tick off rap lyrics in their heads without a thought, who cant remember a lick of basic algebra or chemistry.
And the answer is NOT more money. It's less idiots sucking off the public teat posing as "administrators". Dont get me started, dammit. Kids today are little fools in training for pushing buttons on a McDonalds register. No more, no less.
Injecting common sense into this discussion is NOT going to be tolerated. Do you get me? Using facts and logic to explain your point of view, is only going to make you enemies around here, bucko.
I suggest you get with it, and start slinging hyperbole like the rest of us, or find something better to do with your time.
Believe it or not, in a university setting as well as the industry many of us are employed in, MS products are looked down upon. I know this will be hard for MS apologists to grasp.
Yup.
That is why Microsoft is flat broke, and soon to go out of business.
Does Groove run on Linux? I didnt think so. I think the guy knows his company is screwed, and is looking for a good(bringing him praise from the zealots)reason to back away.
The new Office suggests that Microsoft finally has their Groupware act together, and from what I understand, the beta is selling like wildfire on the web site. At $20 shipping, half a million copies might sellout before the week is over.
Office + Sharepoint, will kill the market for Groove before they can get one.
This is NOT a troll either, if you dont agree, do a little research. This Office version might actually be worth upgrading to.
A smart manager would be less concerned about this guys attitude, and more concerned about their systems. If the guy is good with MS stuff, (you said so yourself) then let him do THAT, and ONLY that. Make him responsible for it, and let him know that regardless of his attitude, advancement means learning the rest. In the mean time you have a competant worker.
Firings for attitude is stupid. If the guy can do the job he was hired for, leave him alone.
The point is that there are so many more people using Microsoft software than anything else that it is natural to have so many complaints. If that garbage that Netscape put out for years had approached hundreds of millions of users, geeks might have torched the Mountain View campus for all the effing bugs.
You also are dealing with a bunch of stupid zero-sum idiots who think that a dollar that Gates has, is a dollar that they dont. There is crappy code everywhere, not just at Microsoft.
Do you know what happens to countries in Europe that dont give the US what it wants? They have to spend BILLIONS defending themselves, instead of being able to rely on the US military to protect them.
What you suggest is actually happening, and Europe will gain more and more autonomy and become less and less a friend to the US.
The problem is; this has all happened before.
The socialist nature of European nations will prohibit them from redirecting revenues away from social programs in favor of defense. They will be easy prey for the next generation of despots, and just like in times past, they will cry out for help from the US.
And just like in the past, we will help nations with cash and natural resources that we can use, and let those without fall under oppresive governance.
When there is no bully threating Europe, they want the US to leave them alone. When they get crushed because they would rather spend there money insuring a steady supply of truffles than defend themselves. Then of course, more Americans will die liberating those assholes all over again.
I love it when people like you spew such facts, because although I cannot dispute what you say, I can dispute the logical conclusion of your argument, which seems to suggest that we should all just kiss our financial asses goodbye?
I dont think so.
One thing that has always set this country apart from others, is that when we needed an idea; be it war, or a new gadget that spawned an industry; we got one. I believe that will happen again. No one in America should doubt that we will return from the brink once again.
Debt itself is NOT a bad thing, there is good debt and bad dept. Bad debt is what most Americans have because they cant stand not having the biggest SUV on the block, whether they can afford it or not. Sooner or later, someone (or some hundreds of folks) will go into debt to finance a good idea, which will bring us right back into solvency.
I am doing all I can to stay in debt, buying up all the cheap real-estate I can find, and renting it out at confiscatory prices. Good economy or bad, people will always need a place to live. Buy and Hold is not a bad idea; it just depends on what you are buying and holding.
I am one of the six people who bought a Parhelia. I did so, because image quality WAS more important to me than frame rates. The operative being "WAS".
The Parhelia does put out the prettiest pictures, but I can see almost every frame of them as they flip over in some games. As a flight simmer, I need smooth animation, and the Parhelia didnt cut it on any modern sims, so I had to get a game machine and run a Radeon 9700 pro.
Matrox should sell themselves to ATI, and show them how to do screen fonts as well as they do. In the gaming world, Matrox is dead and should be.
1. Dont be nice to girls, they wont respect you and will sleep with men who are mean to you and tell you all about it, while never giving you any.
2. Sleep with everything that moves, knowing that as you make more money, the women get prettier. If you dont like the girls who like you, make more money!
4. Under no circumstances ever consider marriage unless you reach 30 and make less than 150K a year. If you are younger and/or make more, your options for trim are too good to settle for just one chick regardless of what you look like.
5. Dont buy a Mac.
6. Just because you will love Java, doesn't mean you can ever do anything productive with it. Stick with C++ and dont be afraid of garbage collection and pointers.
7. Everyone you think is cool, will be washing your car, turning down your hotel bed, and bringing you meals in 20 years, if you refuse to be like them now.
8. Those big tits you love so much right now, will be hanging around her navel in 25 years. Learn to like the flat girls.
9. Once you make decent money, you will forget all that crap about the environment, compassion and helping others, so why waste your time now?
10. Everyone does it, anyone who says they dont is lying.
CodeBehind is great, but it's not the place for SQL statements either. The place to do this is either as a referenced connection class, or as a statement in the Web.Config XML file, using the App.Settings tag element. Then all you have to do is create a key value back to this setting in your codebehind rather than the direct connection string.
Gotta agree with you, it's one of the best programming books out there. Some of it is stuff that any decent programmer should already know, but it is very nice to have it all wrapped up in a single book of best practices.
Your screed is just more of that same old socialist, class envy, bleeding heart nonsense that thinking people pay taxes to protect.
Who gives a crap whether you are POORER or not, fool? We dont make laws in this country just because some whining little snot doesnt have as much money as someone else.
Laws are supposed to be based on the Constitution, not the Communinst Manefesto. Shut the fuck up, loser.
If the Segway cost as much as a scooter or skateboard, this would not be happening. Every one of these cities mentioned are notorious for their anti-success antics, where they are against anything that cannot be afforded by everyone.
Never mind the fact that the Segway can do SOME good for SOME people, if your average maggot infested hippie cant afford it, then NOBODY should have the right to it! This has nothing to do with safety, or protecting some old lady from getting run down by an out of control Segway, this is about, "IF I CANT HAVE IT, NEITHER CAN YOU!!!!!!!!
This is no different than our current progressive tax system, and no different from those who want to control the activities of those they cant otherwise extort and blackmail into paying more and more for less and less in the name of Compassion.
Dude, If I had anymore mod points, you would surely get them. WELL DONE!. I am so sick of these whining code monkeys complaining about competition, when they ought to be taking their time improving their skills.
I dont mean their PROGRAMMING skills either. I mean their MARKETING SKILLS. I am a.NET Architect. I turn down more work in a week, than I could complete in a year. Why? Because in addition to being a competent architect, I know how to market my skills to the people ready and willing to PAY MONEY for them.
Anyone who is BETTER THAN AVERAGE these days is STUPID to be ANYONE's EMPLOYEE!!! Work for yourself, by yourself, for many companies, and get paid for your ability, and stop depending upon some employer to keep your ass working.
These whiners need to get good enough to not mind a little competition, learn to market your abilities, learn public speaking, put down the twinkies, fat boys and get out there!
But above all else, they need to stop bitching. Why work for one company when you can work for 10 companies at once? If you dont have a code library developed over the years, ready to plug into many projects at once, then get your ass of Slashdot, and get busy!
You have no complaint, you have a whine. Tell me just where you have tried to work other than the states? Or better yet, save it. You havent tried, you are just repeating the same old coward's line about unfairness.

Oh wow! I'll alert the media.
You mean freedom to be stupid? Are you still eating your Y2K disaster rations? Sheesh dude, get a grip.

Get your facts straight, dude. Bush has not asked for a dime on Iraq, that money is for Afghanistan. Iraq is going to pay for this war in cheap oil.
I'm married too, but Leykis is the man. I learned to rediscover my inner A-hole right quick.

Just another non-coder who doesnt know what he's doing looking for attention. Dont blame your hammer if you can only drive crooked nails.
