I am assuming that he means that some sites have a redirect and then if you hit the back button, it goes back to the redirect page, and then back to the page you are on. We have that problem with our content filtering provider at work. If they deem some site inappropriate, they pop up a blocker page. If you hit back, it tries to load the offensive page again, and you end up back at the blocker page. You just have to use the drop down menu on the back button.
I have never had a page that could disable the back button, so I assume this is what he means. Of course, we all know what happens when we assume...
I thought the series was far and away better than the old Dune movie. It brought new depth to the story. Of course, it didn't have Patrick Stewert in it, but it was still better.
The law these days allows people to avoid the consequences for their actions far too easily.
I agree with you. I think that the way that debt is handled is pathetic.
But if you live your life on the dole, never contributing anything to society, then the government will pay for everything for you.
That is also true. The welfare system needs a very serious overhaul.
But we need to be careful to consider those who may get into debt through genuine hardship. We don't want to make it so they they have to endure further hardship to be able to get out of debt.
The biggest problem is that today debt is considered a valid way of life. It is ok to be 10,000 in the hole with credit card debt and shift it from card to card, get a consolidation loan and then max your cards out again. The credit card companies should have the right to have them arrested and put to work in a call centre or stuffing envelopes or something.
Why would they want to do that? If they started cracking down on debt, it might eventually shift that ideal that debt is ok. They make their money by allowing people to go into debt. They charge you overinflated interest rates to cover the ones who file bankrupcy or don't pay. They make the same amount of money regardless. (Of course if everyone started paying their bills, I doubt the intrest rates would go down. They would just put the extra in their pockets.)
No, it didn't make sense. Sure it may work as a deterent, but it didn't help anyone get out of debt. I believe that the poster was referring to this. In the debtors prison, there was no way to make any money. If you got thrown in prison for owing me 5 pounds, then there was no way to make that 5 pounds to pay me back. Meanwhile, your wife couldn't work because of the social structure of the times, so your son(s) had to try to make enough money to support the family and to buy daddy out of prison.
It was a stupid idea. What the poster was referring to is that not being able to get a job because of lousy credit is the same type thing. How are you going to be able to get out of debt if no one will hire you and pay you?
I don't really suggest you try this while in a meeting!
Why not? It could get rid of the hiccups. I am sure the rest of the people in the meeting could relate. And if it didn't work, and you hiccuped with a mouth full of water, causing you to inhale a portion of it, and then invoulantarily cough and spew that water all over the conference table, well, that would just provide some comic relief that was probably sorely needed anyway.
I would consider the arguments that you used to come just as much from SCIENCE as from Religion. Sure, the religous leaders of the time accepted these scientific "truths", and then saw it as blasphemy if anyone challenged them, but scientists came up with those theories in the first place. And I doubt many creationists will argue that that was a time of religious corruption. Religion also spawned the Crusades, wich was just as much a political reason for going to war as it was a desire to cram one's beliefs down anothers throat.
Science and Religion in their true forms are not opposites, but are the same. Both are the search for Truth. And there is only one Truth. Eventually, the differences will be reconciled and we will see that they are identical. Probably not in this life, though.
History is full of examples like the ones that you used. Scientists have a nasty habit of proclaming something as truth only to find out later that it was not the truth after all and must be revised into a new "Truth"
Religion, on the other hand, specifically biblical christianity, has never changed. And we are constantly making scientific discoveries that only solidify the biblical statements penned centuries ago.
As for the ports being kludgy and slow, why on earth do you need your keyboard or mouse to be fast? It's not like you're going to overflow the port or something.
And why on earth would any of us ever need more than 640kb of memory!? Its not like we will use it or anything.
I assume that this is one of the reasons that our profession is flooded with computer scientists whou couldn't have made the grade if it hadn't been handed to them. This does nothing but hurt engineers.
That's exactly what I was thinking. Germany needs to get with the times, American youths have been making these for years. They aren't even that popular anymore.
Actually, that is what the article describes. Matt invested in a key machine, but you could easily do it with a metal file and a little patience. Matt claims that even doing it this way, it shouldn't take you very long to get a Master.
As the article that Matt wote explains, there are two major catigories of Master Key systems. One is Total Position Progression (TPP) and the other is Rotating Constant (RC). With a TPP system, none of the pins for your room key will be cut at the same place as the Master Key. In a RC system, one or more arbitrary pins will be cut in the same place for the room key and the Master Key. You must have had a RC system there. You could do the same type thing with a TPP system, but you would be looking for the pin heights that were not used on any of your room keys. Matt talks about this and a few other ways to derive the Master Key. But his method is simple and works in either system equally well, with a few exceptions. I linked to the article that he wrote above.
If anyone wants to read the actual article that Matt Blaze Wrote. It can be found here.
Really interesting stuff, however, as others have said, it really is only common sense. That is probably why no one has written a paper about it before.
First of all, I totaly disagree with everything that you said, but I don't want to get into this argument.
Have you ever stopped to think about what our history would look like if the South had been allowed to leave the union, or if they had won the war? One point in particular is WWII, there is no way that the United States / Confederacy could have helped to bring Hitler down the way we did as a United Nation.
Sure this is speculation, but most likely Hitler would have won that little war, and the face of the world would be very different today.
Good point. I imagine that your grip on the handle of your "Smart" Handgun might be slightly different in a shooting range and when a burgler/murderer/rapist/spanish inquisition is breaking down your door. That would suck if your gun woudn't fire when you happened to squeeze it harder because of an adreniline rush.
Might help with road rage though, can't fire a gun when you are mad. hmm...
I saw a documentary on Manfred von Richthofen (the Red Baron) the other day. He was killed with a.303 bullet from (according to this documentary) a ground based Anti-Aircraft Machine gun. The documentary mentioned the effect of the hydrostatic shock on the Baron's system.
Basically, the hydrostatic shock distroys the tissue that is within a few millimeters of the bullet's passage. The documentary claimed that this is what expidited the Baron's death. The wound itself would have killed him in an hour or so, but with that shockwave, he was dead in minutes.
Since when does it mean "Created?".
4. Rinse 5. Repeat
I think that there are several good movies out there that are pretty accurate. Here's one for example. Or maybe this one.

They already have. Don't forget the Segway!

Or why in reading the past few posts, I have yawned about 3 times........okay, 4.

Right?
Thats pretty funny.

Actually, the two words and all formatting only takes about 500 bytes. The 19.5KB is data user tracking, DMCA signatures, and EULA monitoring devices.
This guy is a few fish short of a hamster if you ask me.

Stage 1 -- Denial. How sad. Hmm, it might be possible to write a program to converse with a female. That would be a fun date...

Be glad that the South was reclaimed.
CD's were what your parents had to listen to music on. Buying was an antiquated way of obtaining music, kind of like bartering was. Ancient stuff.
