Now, I know this is a bit off topic but it just seems easier to put an old (400Mhz, slot loading) iMac in there - cheaper too. No fan, small form factor, etc. If for some reason the propriatary software doesn't support OS X, use VNC to control the PC.
As someone who works as a sales clerk in the bay area I have to say it's unfortunate that the hard sell works. I hate doing it, but it works. It's bad on all sides. I look like and feel like a creep. That perception is going to keep customers away, exactly what a business doesn't need.
In part, some blame falls on management. Some businesses (like the one I'm currently employed by) make sure their sales people sell hard through "shoppers", meetings (AKA group brainwashing sessions). and requiring these add-ons.
I'm not saying that it's not entirely possible to sell decently without doing the hard sell, it's just more efficient in the short-term.
Step 1: Figure out how to get an OSX capable motherboard & processor w/o the bulky case, power supply, HD, RAM package they all seem to come with.
Step 2: Worry about stupid crap like why I can't just buy an adapter to use one of the many ATX power supplies I've got lying around.
Step 3: No, dude! This is HARDWARE you want hardware hacking - then hack it! The specs are online, it has been done.
Once it's done that, once again, seal the basin and dump your cold water in. Now, (second clock cycle) open the plugs for both basins, and your hot water goes down the tubes (magically) before the cold water shows up and you can re-plug your basin.
And this my friends, is why we cannot get ANYONE to recognize this as a true science!::sigh::
Now why is it we're now accepting that hard drives cannot be effectively erased? The MIT study did not deal with drives that had a "zero all data"(i.e. remove all magnetic variations from the drive) format performed on them.
If you want to make your macs headless, buy a couple HD15 adapters. The Male HD15-> Female old mac monitor connector is known to work on older models ( the G4 tower style servers that wouldn't boot at all without a monitor ) so it might work for you. Cheap fix too ($2-5 except at comp USA $35!) HD15 Male->Male adapters might work too.
It will take lower costs of pre-built systems, or greater availability of DIY hardware to get me to re-expand my horizons
So, you think the machines Apple makes are better than PC's but you don't think that justifies their costing more eh? Sounds like you're on a river in Egypt.
Let me ask you this, what's to stop cops from robbing an killing you in your sleep? Nothing. Hell, you even PAID for the guns they'd use to do it! All the while, cases of this are somewhat rare.
::sigh:: some people just shouldn't have kids
Hey, the NSA has a monopoly on information anyway right?!
Right, it worked well with the two Apple mice (puck and optical) I have for the few moments they weren't hanging on the wall. My trouble with the Intellimouse is that Cocoa Gestures won't recognize any of the buttons no matter how I set the prefs. I even attempted to have the wheel button represent a modifier (control-shift) with no luck.
Unlike Mozilla this requires a modifier to turn the Gesture engine making it difficult to accidentally Quit/Go Back/Restart, etc. Unfortunately, I can't get it to recognise my Intellimouse even with all features turned off. Now, if I have to reach for the keyboard it's not much use is it? That's what I was attempting to avoid in the first place.
Last Gripe: It only has four recognised movements - up, down, left, right. It would be *much* more usefull if it could tell the difference between say left-down-right-up and a circle starting at pi/4 or between left-down and a diagonal slice up and to the right at an angle of 45+/-10 degrees.
Then again, it's *free* and it's easy to learn.::shrugs::
Yes, you can do this with Address Book in 10.2 Just drag it's Pref folder in Library to the Public folder as you did with Entourage. I'm not sure how well this setup works if two people make a change to the address book within a few seconds of each other.
Data loss MB?
Agreed. Bad design. Bad bad bad design.

Mod parent up.
Oh no no no no no no - yes.

duh.
No, if Bit Torrent can be implemented as a standard protocol for all web browsers *then* it will have real potential.
./ effect!
Potential dissipate the
Yeah, I like Apple but I'd rather find a loophole in their buisness plan and avoid paying for all that messy R&D.
Can you spell lawsuit?

I'll second that. And give up mod while I'm at it.
not really, 1%/1 is a fraction of 1%
Aye, and if you could somehow work EverCrack in there mayme I'll graduate from college...someday.

WHO TOLD YOU!?!?!?!
More waste meaning more surface area the bacteria can thrive on, which is where this becomes usefull.

Here here! Say it like it is, brutha!

Three guesses who lost a lot of money in Intel's stock? First two don't count.
